This "medical" facility has been an extremely frustrating experience. While it may be fine if you…read moresimply need medication for something minor like a cold, do not expect continuity of care. It is nearly impossible to see the same doctor twice because providers seem to constantly rotate in and out. If you happen to be seen by a great provider, don't get attached -- chances are you will never see them again. The administrative staff has also been very disappointing. Many interactions feel rude and dismissive, as if patients are inconveniencing them rather than seeking medical care. Compassion and professionalism seem to be lacking. On top of that, my co-pay has been charged at the rate of a specialty visit, even though this is not a specialty practice. After repeated issues and ongoing frustration, we have finally decided to move our healthcare to another provider.

EDIT 29 Nov 2016: Apparently, this is no longer Satmed Medical Clinic. It is Ascend Family and Wellness Care. Our records were switched to the new place, and we never knew until I called there. Thankfully, the staff was great, very informative and patient. Also, Dr Melissa Kempf no longer works here. I will update more if we stay with the clinic.

He's had horrible staff during times and good in fact awesome at others. I don't know if the medical care system has changed. I don't know. But months out from appointments means one of two things or both. Either you have too many patients or not enough staff. No matter. And this is kind of common here in San Antonio I've found. Tried to find a doctor taking new patients. 5 months out. THAT is not health care. I can't 'plan' every event with my health 5 months in advance. People get sick and need to see a doctor fairly soon. 'Go to the ER' is the answer. Then the ER gets clogged up to people that really need it. So I just become part of the problem. But for me, for as long as I've been a patient, I don't' care how many patients you have...it's about loyalty and trust me, I've stuck through some bad times there as he's gone through some horrible staff. And I see it. I didn't say anything but I saw the damage being done. I just can't do it. I don't feel like I can accept that for MYSELF. Love the man. He saved my life long ago. There was absolutely no reason to speak to me like I was a child. I was simply trying to make an appointment and take care of my health, but the way she responded and talked down to me made the entire process stressful and upsetting. When letting them know that there are urgent matters that could result in medical complications they said "Well you're the one calling to reschedule". This office is happy to leave THREE MONTHS expired birth control embedded in your body and when you ask if that's even safe, they'll tell you to GOOGLE IT!!! Imagine calling a doctor's office with a medical concern, and they tell you to google it!!! I would rather pay whatever an emergency room wants from me than deal with any of these negligent, incompetent, insensitive, rude as all get out personnel EVER AGAIN. I was willing to wait my initial three months from January to the beginning of April because it was what it was, but to cancel on me day of and then not at least TRY and help or even answer my questions as to whether something is safe or not is abhorrent. Just find another OBGYN, if they can't even answer a medical question about whether an expired medication is safe or not, they clearly cannot provide a safe or reasonable level of care.

Incredibly disrespectful, did not listen to her patients, spent next to no time in the exam room, and IS NOT LGBT+ friendly.
