My down payment was to go through the bank, not the dealership due to it being put on a payment plan. Courtesy called the bank in front of me and were told, BY THE BANK, Courtesy does not collect my down payment. They refunded my money and everything was fine (hence why my original review was deleted). But now MONTHS LATER, I get a letter in the mail saying I owe Courtesy specifically $380. On a down payment they aren't even supposed to collect to begin with. They are the most disorganized, incompetent dealership that can't even keep track of who pays what and when. Avoid at all costs, it's not worth the headache.

They have these flashy promotions on tv with beautiful women, the old geezer that blows smoke up your butt like it's the 70's on the weekends, telling you that they guarantee they will get you approved or they will give you $1000. "We got you approved you will need 4500 down." This is why I have no credit, I was young got repossessed a couple times, got older and refused to borrow money for a decade, no credit cards, no note. Blew a head gasket knew my credit situation but the car sales man swore he could get us approved somewhere. Yea give me 4500..... Let's say they got me approved, I get some highly waxed loan that is probably more like a divorce you can't run away from, pay on it for a few years while it squeezes you like a lemon in repairs while you pay off the colonoscopy the car salesman sold you. Be wise kids, don't make the mistakes I have, shop around and don't let them force anything on you. If you have no credit save the migraine.

It's hard to evaluate a car business based on a purchase or a walk away. In the end, you're…read moreevaluating the salesperson. But, the business employs the salesperson, so the responsibility does lie with the business. Let me start out by saying that I live in Lexington. It's easier for me to buy from a business in Lexington. It's easier for me to get my car serviced in Lexington. So, I always try to work with Lexington businesses first because that's in my best interest. Enter the salesperson John at Don Franklin Nissan. John rode along for the test drive. Guy seemed likeable enough. I decide I am interested in the vehicle, but I wanted to compare prices elsewhere. John at Don Franklin Nissan says he has to have MSRP for the vehicle, nothing less, nothing more. If that's what you gotta have, that's what you gotta have. I call John at Don Franklin Nissan a couple days later. I let him know that they have a vehicle with the same options at a competitor for thousands less, and I was wondering if he could match it. Again, it's easier for me to buy in Lexington. He goes on to tell me that the competitor is factoring in all kinds of rebates and such that I would not be eligible for. I'm thinking ok, maybe John at Don Franklin Nissan is right, but I might as well go and check. The competitor came in at a price between $3,000 and $4,000 less (between 10 and 15%) than what John at Don Franklin Nissan said he had to have. I'm ok with that, but clearly in my own financial interest I'm going to go with the competitor. I gave John at Don Franklin Nissan an opportunity to earn my business, he did not, and there you go. About a week after my purchase John at Don Franklin Nissan calls me and asks me to come in, bring the wife, and test drive the vehicle again. I start to explain that I had purchased a vehicle elsewhere and John at Don Franklin Nissan immediately hangs up the phone on me. I was not rude with him. I was not critical of his business. Heck, I didn't have time to be. As soon as I mentioned the competitor, he cuts me off by ending the call. That's not professional. That's not good business. Now, let's think about how John at Don Franklin Nissan could have handled this. How about: "Sorry I couldn't earn your business this time, but I hope you will consider us in the future." "I'm happy you got the car you wanted at the price you wanted, and if you give me a shot next time you're in the market for a vehicle, we will try harder to earn your business." "I wish we could have gotten you in this car, but if you know of anyone else who is in the market for a car, please consider sending them our way." Notice that none of these responses, which just came to me in the moment that I am writing this, involved hanging up on someone mid-sentence. It was insulting, unprofessional, and unnecessary. And it makes me not want to do business with any Don Franklin dealership. John at Don Franklin Nissan could, quite frankly, use some Chick-fil-A customer service training. I'm not even in the sales business, but I do understand that the business is all about relationships. John at Don Franklin Nissan severed mine.

I called, talked to Scott, and he was very helpful. Dropped off the car, got a diagnosis and quote on repair. Very reasonable! Some businesses could have gouged us since we were from out of town. They didn't. Part that was replaced has a warranty, (yay!) and they explained what to do if it breaks again. Lovely people!

He also resolved my braking issue which had my truck pulsating every time I would hit the brake. He went above and beyond and spent extra time troubleshooting my issues. I'll definitely go back to Johns place for any of my vehicle issues.

Thankful that no one was hurt, my thoughts went on to how I'd get the van repaired. The thing about fools...they don't do simple, basic things like have car insurance. And, they lie about running red lights. Shouldn't you be thrown in the can for driving w/o insurance? At least get your license revoked for five years or better? I digress, I know, but something needs to be done here. The lawless live w/o consequences. We need a change. Anyway, enter Connie. He's got a body shop in Versailles. First thing about Connie you might want to know is he ain't a lady. He's a dude. Second thing, and probably more importantly, is he gets down to business right away and quotes you a price quickly. Reasonable? Idk, I'm getting old and everything seems high to me. But I think he is pretty competitive. He did a great job on the front of our van. It looks better than it did before the accident, and you can't ask for any better than that. Hopefully I'll never need body work in the future, but if I do, I'll be working with Connie again. Two thumbs up. Way up.
