Find another CPA. I've been using Blake for ~8-10 years now because he used to be great--responsive, detail-oriented, and helpful. The last couple of years, though, that's completely changed. He's making huge mistakes on my taxes (costing me tens of thousands) and is completely non-responsive. It takes weeks to get a response, and it always comes with an excuse. He's also become very apathetic in his responses. I'm now having to pay someone else to correct his mistakes and give me the guidance I need on some taco decisions moving forward. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. First off, let me say that I have a small business and over the years have tried (4) different accountants but was never able to find anyone competent enough - they were iether not knowledgeable about tax laws, charged exhorbitant rates, or unresponsive for months. Let me tell you about Blake. Honest. Knowledgeable. Fast. Fair pricing. Straight shooting. Fun. This guy is a tax ninja. He took 3 years worth of tax returns and prepared them within a week - and they weren't easy. Not only that, he filed everything longways - meaning filling out extra forms to take advantage of every write-off and tax break possible. Intro telephone conversation Oct 2018 - his follow-up email said: "This is my e-mail address. Listed below are the rest of my contact details. Feel free to reach out to me anytime. It would be my pleasure to be of service to you." Amicable way to start out. First 2018 tax meeting end-Feb 2019 - showed up one hour late (had the wrong time in his calendar) while I waited in his parking lot with my two young kids. My wife had to come to his office to pick them up as it was well into their afternoon nap by that time. I still met with him that afternoon to hand over my first batch of papers. He promised to have his tax organizer to me within a few days, which he said he would populate with the information I provided to him (I generally compile information for my accountants). It took two weeks of repeated emails to get tax planner in hand, even after stating via multiple emails that I'd self-populate the fields. In this instance he said his reply emails were not coming through to me. Then, I started calling, texting and emailing end March to hand over more paperwork - no replies. After a week of this (now into the end of first week of April), he replied that my number was going to junk, and he had corrected the problem. Not sure why the emails and texts weren't working again, as they previously had been. Kept saying he would have a estimated number (I was going to owe monies for the year) for me within a few days after that conversation was finally had. This did not occur until the 14th of April. I went into the office to ensure that I picked up the paperwork for the extension, it was clear that he hadn't entered some 1099 information on my return and made an obvious mis-calculation on my kids returns (he cited no tax due although they've been paying taxes for the past three years). We would have underpaid by a huge sum (multiple $10s of thousands, not a small error by any means). I dropped off two K-1s that day as well, the night of the 14th April visit. They later said they spent an hour looking for it, so unclear what really happened. However, they did not have the K-1s available so I made another trip to the office to drop them off mid-May. I told him I was leaving town the day I dropped off the K-1s (copy #2) and would really love to have the returns finalized by that evening if possible. He promised me twice he would get the returns to me that night. He didn't do so until after I reached out again to him 4-5 days later asking about the returns. He said there were a lot of moving pieces and that he looked them over again - fair enough, but why promise me and then not communicate that you wanted more time to look it over? I was finally able to pick them up 1.5 weeks after promised (yes, partially due to my busy schedule). For me, not worth the headaches. His staff did state to me that he does the tax returns for "fun" and his income stream is from his other business (es). The communication difficulties were simply a drain on my time and ultimately my psyche as I work hard to prep my taxes ahead of time so it should be number entry and review for most accountants. I am not dumping stacks of loose paper and running off. It truly felt to me like he thought he was "doing me a favor" by the end of the completion of the file. ** The IRS added about $2K on to my refund due to an error in calculation, per the enclosed card with my refunded amount. This finally prompted me to post this review. ** Lastly, I personally did not find his end pricing to be reasonable at all, to make a personal rebuttal on what others have stated. Obviously, this is an opinion, but I wasted a lot more of my time than I ever expected to just chasing down answers from him. I've worked with other CPAs in the past who are no where as hard to communicate with. My experience with Blake Davidson was pretty terrible and I regret finding him on Yelp with his great reviews. - 3/18/2015 I submitted all of the information he requested in order to create a tax form needed to file my business's tax return. I asked at that time if he could give me a timeline on when things may be completed and he told me he couldn't. - 3/25/2015 I sent an email asking about the status of my forms and to make sure he didn't need anything - no response. -3/31/2015, I called Blake to see if he could give me an idea on when he would have my forms - he told me he would have something for me by the end of the week (4/3/2015). - 4/6/2015, after receiving nothing from him, I sent him an email - no response. - 4/7/2015, I sent him another email - nothing. - 4/14/2015, my business partner finally got in touch with him and he texted her not to worry that "no man is left behind" and he'll get our forms to us on time. - 4/15/2015 (the tax deadline) he calls me at 8:30PM to tell me this long sob story about how his servers have been down and blah blah and how he's so sorry and has filed my extension. He promised to have my forms to me the first of the following week (4/21/2015). - Today (4/21/2015), after leaving him a voicemail, he tells me that he's going on vacation and will get to my return "first thing" when he gets back on 4/27/2015. I thought he was joking but he wasn't. Today, when I was deleting his access from my Quickbooks account, I realized he NEVER accepted the invitation for access which means ALLLL of this time he never looked at our information - ridiculous. I'm a very reasonable person and not naive to think that tax time for any CPA is a busy time. The fact of the matter is, Blake failed to deliver multiple times and left us in the dark. Had we known up front that he was incapable of getting our forms to us in time, we would have went another direction. My advice to anyone looking for a CPA, look elsewhere. read more

Some of you out there may know him for his DJing... but I know him as the ONLY accountant to use in this city for your personal & business accounting needs. Blake has always done a *terrific job* for my personal and corporate tax needs. He is hands down the best accountant/CPA for all your needs. He's really good at reminding me about saving for my "retirement"... so he has many options for you to choose if ya need that. Keep him in mind for Taxes, IRS matters, Financial Planning, and Investments (with an emphasis on retirement planning and investing). Here's an update on my review. Not only did Blake file my returns and extensions late, resulting in fines, he also forgot to include my health insurance form which I clearly sent to him in March. I recently left corporate America and made the plunge into self employment, and my wife and I are expecting our first child. For starters he was late to our initial meeting in his own office. He wasn't even there. Didn't show up for 20 minutes. Ok, we all have those days and he seemed to know his stuff. The more serious issue was that it took him six months to finish my taxes, after I gave him all of my original tax documents. Every time I emailed him about what the hold up was, he made an excuse. I'll buy excuses once or twice but this was way beyond that. I couldn't have someone else to do it because he had all of my tax info. Eventually I asked for them back so that I could find someone else to do it. This was days before the deadline in 2020 (which was extended due to covid, or my taxes would have been filed months late). So after flaking out and making excuses for months, he did my taxes at the last possible minute. Then he sent me a bill for a thousand dollars. read more

I am a a new start-up business own and am very happy with my experience with Blake. How I found him was through yelp, then I read the reviews and was pleased to see he's done great work for other people. I walked in the office unannounced with a crazy mess of paper work, and a story. I explained to him that this was my first business and that I would like some help to prepare my return. Blake took it upon himself to teach and nurture me as a student which I really needed. He gave me a worksheet and add up all of the totals, and some advice, and sent me on my way. It took me about 4 hours of backtracking through my expenses to fill out everything and and emailed him my results. I finished with 2 days before the deadline. Blake called me the next day that he will filing an extension and that it is completely normal. And figured it would be fine. Two weeks later I returned with a w-2 for 2014 from my last employer and added it my totals. Everything was finished yesterday and the results were way better than I expected. Not only did I break even for the business, but I received a return! I feel very happy using Blake as my cpa, and tax preparer. I will definitely be using I'm for the future.
