So my kids went on the coaster and I watched and took photos. Then recently, I was forced to visit Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster for a work trip. It was either ride the dang coaster, or irritate the people who set up the trip, so I went. Holy cats! Alpine coasters are super fun! You kind of feel like you're going to fly off the tracks during the ride, but you won't. It seems safe enough, and the ride goes by so fast (it's definitely less than 10 minutes). Before you know it, you're done and wish you could go again. (I didn't, but I'm sure kids would.) You can control the speed, which is nice. At one point, I was feeling wild and crazy, and let it fly and zipped around the track at full speed. I visited with a small group on a weekday, and there was zero wait to start riding. You don't even have to get out of your car to see this as it is visible from the street. We found that the best time to ride is at night when the crowds have diminished and it is cooler. It is also a good time to chat up the attendants and get the "hook up" on some of the rides. Now, this won't work for everyone, but it is my specialty.. My daughter and I had a blast at this park. The key to having a good time here is to take someone who is adventurous and loves thrill rides. Although he entire family was on hand, the men were too chicken to go on any of the rides. I wanted to do the slingshot but my daughter backed out at the last minute, (after watching for a while). We went on the skyscraper and it was a blast. My daughter screamed the entire time and I thought that I would absolutely explode with laughter. It was the best. Finally, I rounded out the experience with a 70 ft. bungee jump. Yes I did! The worst part was the walk up which seemed to take forever. Once you get to the top, there is a sign that says you are not allowed to walk down, you MUST jump. I go to the edge of the platform and grab the cushioned tube and then I just fall. It is only a free fall for a second, then you bounce a couple of times because it is very controlled and you are gently lowered to the platform below. It was exhilarating and scary at the same time. Most importantly this is a safe jump. Before you start your climb, you are weighed and fitted with the appropriate harness so there is no guessing. The initial jump was around $70 but subsequent jumps are drastically reduced. The best part of the experience is getting the video so that you can relive the memories. Priceless!

Apparently they were having some plumbing problem which prevented them from opening on the day we were in Pigeon Forge. I am apparently having a failure of imagination as to why a plumbing leak keeps people from being able to come into a hobby shop and spend money but that's probably my issue. It was a super bummer because I brought my cars and controllers just for the occasion. Hope we can come back again soon.

Choose from 3 different 18-hole courses (pig, chicken, cow), or do all three. Each hole is entertaining and fun, lots of fun photo ops! Tip: if you're thinking of doing more than one course, pay the nominal fee ($3?) and your ticket is good at two different locations (also Davey Crockett's Mini Golf in Gatlinburg) -- your ticket is valid for a few months (ask for details!).

We've done Disney, we've done Universal, and Dollywood holds its own with both of them in ways that…read moresurprised us. The scale is different but the experience is just as memorable and in some ways more personal. The coaster lineup is legitimately impressive. Big Bear Mountain is the longest in the park and a great ride for the whole family. Lightning Rod is one of the fastest wooden coasters in the world. Wild Eagle gives you incredible views of the Smoky Mountains from the top. Dragonflier in Wildwood Grove is perfect if you have younger kids who want in on the fun. The new NightFlight Expedition that opened in 2026 is a unique indoor hybrid coaster and river raft ride that works in any weather, a great addition. Beyond the rides the park has real soul to it. Live Appalachian music playing throughout, craftspeople demonstrating woodworking and glassblowing, the Dolly Parton Experience museum, seasonal festivals and theater performances at the Back Porch Theater. You could skip the rides entirely and still have a full day. The cleanliness here is consistently remarked on and it's earned. Every corner of the park is well maintained and the staff are the friendliest we've encountered at any theme park anywhere. Go on a weekday if you can, weekends get packed. Buy tickets in advance. Wear comfortable shoes. Worth every mile of the drive from the Carolinas.

This place swindles. Do not buy gift cards from Tori…read more I visited Gatlins on October 6, 2023. The place was running a promotion for selling gift cards. I bought 4 gift cards to give to my family members as stocking stuffers for Christmas. Tori, the manager who assisted me with the sale, said that the gift cards would be honored for one year. Sadly, my family was not able to make our annual trip this year. I called to ask for a refund. When I purchased the gift Cards Tori told me specifically that I would be refunded if the gift cards were unable to be used. Tori wrote her name and number on the gift card, just in case the family was not able to travel to Gatlinburg When I called today to ask for the refund we agreed upon Tori and the other Manager said they were not able to issue a refund. I asked if they would issue the refund if I mailed the gift certificates back. She said they would not. I will be reporting this transaction to my credit card company. Do not buy gift cards from this establishment. If it was possible to give a lower rating I would.
