I've been coming to Westlake Nail Spa every two weeks for many years. I LOVE these ladies (and gent). Each and every one of them does their best to provide great service and try to make you happy. If a mistake is made, they always make it right. The atmosphere is airy, clean, and comfortable, with a huge selection of color and service options. At this point, I always see Dong and Kelly for my nails. They are talented, professional, friendly and sweet, and are always willing to try something new with me. Shyla at reception is also outstanding when it comes to customer service and keeping thing running smoothly. Nail services are hard work and very intimate--the cost to me is entirely justifiable for what they do, and these techs deserve so much respect for their skill. My partner and I needed a Gel Mani and Pedi done for our Cancun trip which leaves today, Called last minute and they didn't answer and I thought they were closed for Juneteenth but they called back after a minute or so! I was able to get same day appointment for 4pm (Called at 1pm). I was so happy! We waited about 15minutes but we got in there early so We don't mind. They were pretty busy! They were nice and friendly, everyone was professional. The place was relaxing, music playing and people chit chatting. It was great! We will definitely come back more often. Oh also I had one person doing both my Mani and pedi. My Bf had two people, he liked the person doing his pedi but not so much the person doing the mani. He just thought she was wasn't as patient and careful. She had polish on his inner fingers and around other areas of his hands but other than that it was great. I got a gel nail manicure and he did an incredible job with my cuticles although I think one of them may have bled a tiny bit which wasn't great but it wasn't noticeable. I've been a consistent client at Westlake for a year and some change and was really disappointed in my last visit. I received a new gel x set last month on 2/16 and the service was completely rushed. My cuticles were not cut. Two of my nails cracked within one week and some nails chipped. I called the same day it cracked 2/22 to notify I needed it fix. My only chance was to go was 2 days later from my call but was sick and couldn't go until the end of the week 2/27. When I went to get it fixed, my cuticles were finally cut and the nail tech decided to re-polish all my nails. I was really hoping that I wouldn't be charged but yes they did charge me for $10. When I questioned it the nail tech said because my nails looked dull and I returned almost 10 days from the initial service . My experience getting gel x nails for the past year , no nails have cracked or chipped , and lasted up to 5 weeks. So obviously something went wrong when the nail tech rushed through my service. Technically they were going to charge me more for the fix but since I'm a repeating customer they charged me $10 . The nail tech was visibly annoyed that I questioned the charge and said I didn't have to pay and essentially my nails looking dull and breaking was my fault . Nails are already expensive and a luxury, if I am paying $80 + for nails, I expect good service. And now after another week and a half, the same nail she fixed, broke. I really enjoyed getting my gel x nails and pedicure here but blaming customers for a poor service the nail tech did , does not sit right with me. Probably the most expensive most basic single gel color pedicure I've ever had. It didn't feel much like a "spa" pedicure unless you count the spa chair. During check in, I was told the gel removal was included. But during check out I was charged an extra 5. The gel polish was drilled off. No soaking. All in all it cost $85 plus tip. Wasn't worth it. Won't be back. 2 stars because the nail tech took her time with me. Even though she was stubborn about a few requests. read more

It was my first and last time here. I said do not push or cut my cuticles but the stylist says it'll make the dip lift sooner. I said that's ok. After dipping my nails 4 rounds she started to shave off some of the paint color (is this normal? My first time doing dip nail color)...THEN SHE PROCEEDED TO SHAVE MY CUTICLES AND CUT ME! My regular pedicure, it was fine. $37 and then had to pay $3 for the pedicure set which they told me to bring back next time or I will get another charge. came here previously several years ago before COVID and this is my first time back. They remodeled the place since then. With the renovation the place looks a lot more modern, bright, and welcoming. I'm glad to see that they survived the pandemic and still in business. Shilah is the front desk/check in person. Her mom owns the place. Shilah is super professional is very helpful when it comes to finding an appointment that fits my schedule. I got pink to white ombré dip nails for my manicure. It was the perfect color for my Disneyland/Wedding trip to SoCal. Kelly did my manicure and she was very patient with me. Will did my gel pedicure which was a solid pink. He also did a great job and was super gentle with my feet. I plan to come back here more often. All the workers here are very nice. A couple days later I realized there were some nails that had bubbles in it. I called them and they told me they could fix it free of charge. I really hate giving nail salons bad reviews because the employees all try to be friendly and are very hardworking despite long days, picky clientele, covid risks, and language barriers. I deeply empathize since I work in patient care, but I left the salon feeling very unhappy with my experience. The hubby bought me Classpass Credits to use towards whatever I please. It's good towards work out classes, massages, facials, haircuts, and nails. Since it's my day off and our 1 year wedding anniversary in Hawaii is coming up, I opted to get my nails done. Westlake Nail Spa was one of the few spots in my area that took my credits. Booking was easy and straight forward. I grew up in Daly City & outer Mission most of my life. I know all the nail shops and even though it was really clean compared to the shops on Mission, the quality was the same, but for more $$$. I got a deluxe pedi thinking they were gonna focus on my feet. It was a regular pedicure, but with saran wrap and lotion around my calves. I was a little disappointed, nothing was around my heels or actual foot. As for my gel mani, the nail tech. Kelly, nipped my skin and just giggled and said sorry. I know, shit happens, and thank God I was getting a dark color anyway, but she didn't even bother to wipe out the blood and apply pressure to make it stop. I've read many reviews about getting knicked too. I tend to keep my nails short, but for special occasions & vacations when I can finally wear them long, I grow them out before getting a mani since I have stubby fingers. For someone who's had idk, perhaps 100 manicures in her life, I've never had the issue with keeping my nails long. The tech insisted to cut them so it'll be easier for her to file and shape. I went in with nails extending slightly over my finger in a rectangular shape and left with them stubby and squared. I'm trying so hard not to be upset and since I used classpass credits, the price was discounted anyway. I've learned my lesson to never come back here again. If you're gonna pay this much, just head into Burlingame and San Mateo for better service & quality. If you're fine with in & out basic mani/pedi, just drive up John daly, go down mission, and you got much cheaper nail salons around Geneva. If you're scared of getting bip & don't wanna drop bread, I recommend driving to San Bruno & try the shops along El Camino UPDATE: I woke up to some of my cuticles feeling painful and raw, especially since gel had been cured over the cut on my thumb. I've been accidentally cut once or twice ever and it has never resulted in this. read more

Last winter, one of the staff at the Kohl's Sephora store in Colma recommended Dong for manicures. I have had many dip powder manicures with Dong, who is sweet and really nice. I really like her work and have found dip to work best on my nails. The pictures show a few of the colors I've chosen and Dong's work. The vibe in the salon is chill, unlike a lot of salons I've visited where it can be noisy and the service can feel rushed. My dip manis take an hour and 15 minutes, which I don't mind because it's my time to be still in my body and mind. Parking is ok. There is a parking structure above the salon. I usually park across the street, where you can find a spot more often than not. The space itself is nice. I like pedicures there because it's quiet and staff will work on your pedicure only, leaving my hands free to read or scroll through social media. They give you the nail file & buffer after your service is complete AND require you to bring it back on your next service. If you don't bring the file and buffer back, they charge you $3 because they use a new file and buffer. I have like 3 or 5 sets at home because I have forgotten them and have been charged $3 for each time I forgot to bring it with me. The file set is different for a manicure than a pedicure. Starting at the end of July 2023, they announced a 3% charge when using a credit or debit card. read more

I just had regular manicure here at 1 pm with Sue. She reassure me my nails are fine, I was ready to go. I went home , had a lunch and noticed my nails one hour later. I had to take my mother to ER same day, came back to the salon at 7 pm to reschedule her appointment for following day, showed the receptionist this work, she just smiled , suggested to gel one next time. I can not do gel or powder , my nails are sensitive. Regular manicure should not last one hour ! I was doing it all my life. First time here. My parents own nail salons in Menlo Park/Palo Alto so I'm very picky. I'm usually in top of my nails but took a few months break because I just moved back to Cali and was doing a ton of moving on my own so it messed up my nails anyway. Life's been tough so I finally decided to treat myself to a self care day and come here for a mani pedi but unfortunately I left not feeling very cared for at all. The lady doing my manicure (Jan) was talking about me not knowing I could understand. She was saying how unkept my hands were and she's never seen so much skin. What's the need to say that out loud to other staff? Why do you think I'm there? As they say, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all, especially about a client who pays you. Whenever I go to a nail salon, no one can tell I'm Vietnamese and I always keep an ear out to hear if they say anything about the clients. It's wrong and rude. Needless to say I was very disappointed and honestly, sad, because I wanted and needed a self care day and she ruined it. Additionally, she didn't even do a good job. I have to pull off the hang nails she left and she didn't clean under the nails at all. After, she just went to go sit in her phone so it's not like she was busy. I shared my feedback with the receptionist and told her I will not be tipping Jan. The receptionist was kind enough to give me $10 off for future so I will come back to try but I will refuse to see Jan. They use lots of potions and lotions but the actual pedicure, -- cutting cuticles, cleaning up the bottoms of the feet and shaping of nails is subpar. Yoo, I had so much fun checking this place out. First time getting my pedicure, and probably won't be my last. I didn't know what to expect, but for sure was a wild journey. Ladies, props to y'all for doing this so often, for sure a destress and a place to chill. I got very lucky and was paired with Coco, who spoke Cantonese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese. Being able to speak in my parents native tongue for sure made it a home like experience. Soaked my feet in rose pedal water, trimmed toenails and cuticles, picked out what color for my toenails, scraped and filed the top of my toenails, special ointment drizzled on top of leg, leg and feet massage, and painted my toenails Halloween Color. Ridiculous experience... Check in for a full new set of acrylic & talk with front manager. The wait is 30min as all techs working on other clients (no problem). So,I wait in my car...then I get called in...lady looks at my nails and says...Ohhh..can't do because I have real nails under acrylic. She wants to cut off, because will be quicker. WTF!!!! NO, your not cutting my real nails off!!! You can file/ sand like most shops OR you can soak them off.! She then starts talking on her native tongue to manager and saying will be too much wk. I have NEVER HAD AN EXPERIENCE like this. Beyond irritated...and they wasted more than half an hour. I've always had a great experience at Westlake nail spa. The nail shop is super clean, and the staff there are wonderful. I've had the pleasure to get my nails done by Moon (dip powder manicure w/design) and Sue (spa pedicure. Both ladies are very gentle and take their time perfecting your nails! Rich took off my dip powder nails today. He was also taking care of the front desk so he was pretty busy but let me tell you, this guy works hard! And he makes it look easy The ambience is very calm even with the nail shop being packed. I can see why their returning clients come back to relax there. Overall this is a top notch nail spot. I was happy to see they had more modern designs and colors at Westlake. I don't live in the area. But I am in the area often. I plan to come back for sure!!! They were moderately busy with enough staff for each customer. Basic pedicure includes a scrub and massage but my cuticles were BARELY trimmed and my feet were BARELY scrubbed. The products used were good and massage was nice, but upon taking my socks off when I got home, I noticed the gel was scraped off. Seems that the polished wasn't cured properly with the led lights. $5 fee for gel removal should've been my red flag, cause what a cash grab scam. read more

It wasn't a big deal. A couple nail techs were having a rough day. It was uncomfortable for those of us there for services. I was not given the full Deluxe pedicure I was there for...and what I paid for. The water in the foot bath was cold and when I asked for hotter water, the tech seemed put out. No foot scrubbing. No exfoliating of my legs. No gel booties on my feet. I get this often, I know what it's supposed to include. Very disappointed this time. She even told me "no" when I chose my color!! read more

It has been awhile but I came in need of a basic pedicure as the salon is close by. Emma was the nail tech that did my pedicure and she was exceptional. Great service and she is very good at what she does. The only issue I had was the 3% service charge to use a credit card. I understand they do not want to pay the service charge; therefore, they pass the charge onto the customer. Came in for gel pedicure and powder manicure. The man who did my powder manicure did not do a good job. I had to tell him to take it off because I wasn't going to leave the salon with my nails looking like that. He suggested to do gel nails instead and my nails are so thick and bubbly. He did not even clean my cuticles, I came in with natural nails no gel or paint on them and he used a machine to saw down my nails which I had no idea what for. Terrible manicure experience.
