Friday night at Granite Creek Marketplace I bought the vegan peanut brittle. So yummy. It didn't last long so I'm ready for more.

I'm sure you've all seen this lovely family business' videos floating around in your social media…read moretimelines, and as if their delicious looking candies weren't enough to entice you they also offer a candy demo certain days during allotted times. I was lucky enough to be the only person at their 11am candy cane demo Saturday morning (oh college football season), and their co-owner Jerry was there right by the window prepping that beer colored blob that he was about to split into colors and add flavoring and citric acid into the blob that would be aerated into a white blob. It's inspiring to watch a skilled candy smith (I made that word up) forge molten sugar into intricate stripe patterned candy. Soon enough tourists who were walking thru wound up sticking around to watch as well, and it became a wholesome candy party! It was more enchanting to watch in real life than on my phone haha, and everyone who worked at the store were very congenial and telegenic. Jerry was extremely knowledgeable and answered all my silly questions. Aside from the fun experience of seeing your candy being prepared, the candy itself was unbelievable. That day Jerry was making sour blueberry candy canes and pillows. I was able to try a nice warm sample pillow after his daughter Abby used that contraption to shape the ropes into pillows. I even got a warm rope to make a heart shaped candy (if you pay $6.50 online on their website). After trying a little piece, I was converted. I'll never buy a not homemade hard candy again. The difference is night and day how fresh the candy was and also when you bit into it was literally light as a pillow and didn't feel like you were gonna break your teeth. It made me wonder why was I eating those stale candy canes from CVS. While waiting for my heart to cool, I shopped around and grabbed some peanut brittle, mango tajin pillows, and a box filled with homemade chocolates. I nibbled on each item when I got home and was floored by the painstaking craftsmanship it took to make these morsels. I couldn't pick a favorite. I was also impressed that the hard candy selections I made when cold was also light to bite into. I think that speaks to the simple traditional style of candy people can stand to embrace and enjoy. It's not too bad of a drive so I'm definitely coming back for Christmas candy canes. Please make a trip to a rare spot that has stood the test of time.

Upon entry, I was warmly greeted by two lovely ladies, Diane and Julie. I was handed a couple free samples of chocolates like they always do. Thank you so much for the wonderful welcome, amazing service, and free samples! I was the only customer at the time. Perfect for me to take lots of photos which I did. By the time I was leaving, there was a long line of customers waiting to be served. Good thing I got here when I did. Interior was very clean and organized with black and white checkered flooring and decor. It's not a very large shop, but quite comfortable to peruse around. Love the variety of pre-packaged chocolates. They even sell greeting cards... conveniently for customers to buy in case they are short on time. Thanks See's for your thoughtfulness! I ended up getting 3 boxes of Little Pops (Assorted, Butterscotch, Cafe Latte) and over 1 lb of my favorite chocolates (just to name a few... pecan buds, rum nougats, scotchmallows, and more). They are so delectably good! They currently have Happy Habit Rewards 2026. Spend $40 or more per month and get a sticker for that month. Depending on 3, 5, or 7 months that you qualify, you may get $20, $35, or $50 promo gift card, respectively. Redeem promo gift card by 10/31/2026. I spent over $60 so I got one sticker for the month of August. I need to buy the See's Candies gift cards from Costco for some savings... pay $40 and get $50 worth of sweets. Happy to have See's at the Colonies. I'll be returning when I need some chocolate fixing. Thanks See's for staying true to quality chocolates and great service!

They have a wide variety of candies, including British and some chamoy/tajin offerings. I found some interesting versions of already beloved candy. What caused me to rate them a three is the massive bulk candy wall which was $16.95/lb. I chose a few options to sample with the intention of returning if the options were fresh. I got four types - green paint ball, buttered popcorn jelly belly, cherry strips, and blue raspberry strips. THEY ARE ALL STALE, some so stale they're inedible. This tells me that the store doesn't refresh the bins or clean them much. For that reason alone, I'd find my candy elsewhere.

If you are Dutch, or even a wannabe, you will be delighted. The last time I came here was at least a decade ago, but one bakery item stuck in my head all these years. I wondered if I could still find it. It was a thick cookie filled with delicious almond paste. After receiving a very friendly greeting, I wasted no time in asking about said cookie, and by golly, they had it. A different brand, different shape, but the same delicacy. Go straight to the refrigerator section to pick up a package of Almond Fingers. Irresistable. Finding this was way too easy, so I figured I needed to browse some more. The store clerk escorted me around, telling me about their products and answering all my many questions. She pointed out another favorite Dutch cookie, a crisp cookie great for dunking, shaped like a windmill. This is loaded with a wonderful blend of "Christmas" (my words, not hers) spices, and not too sweet. In case you are wondering, a small package landed in my shopping bag, too. And once home, it passed my taste test with 10/10 stars. In spite of being small, the store also carries a delightful inventory of canned and packaged goods and even some cute, Dutch knick knacks, like blue and white ceramic spoon holders and salt & pepper sets. You will find their candy section full of many options, including several brands of Dutch chocolates and real Dutch licorice. I love adventures like this! I only wonder why there is no such thing as a Dutch themed café in this area. We are missing out.
