I stop by Martinsburg, WV on my way to a work meeting. I got in around 845 pm so there weren't many options available. I noticed that Blaze was open until 10 pm so I decided to stop in here. I'm assuming that since I got there around 9 pm and that they had already cleaned up and packed up most of their items, that it contributed to not a great experience. I was excited to create my own pizza here as they had a vegan cheese option (blessed for a lactose free option!). I added the original red sauce, meatballs, pepperoni, mushrooms and spinach. I've had spinach on pizza before but for some reason it seemed really off on this one. Also, the mushrooms were slightly off with the taste. Probably cause they were canned but I've definitely had canned mushrooms before that didnt have such a "canned" flavor. After the pizza came out, I wasn't given any options for the finishing touches as the staff was creating their own pizzas to take home and kept reminding each other that they were done working for the night as they were cooking their pizzas in the oven. As i mentioned before, I think showing up around 9 probably contributed to the bad experience. I think i'd probably give them another try if i had the opportunity. read more

They. LOCKED. THE. DOOR. We ordered and paid online via their user-unfriendly website. Arrived on time to pick up the order and saw from my car only 2 tables of customers and no other activity, so I wondered if they were closed or if I had the wrong location. I watched another patron go to the door and be unable to open it. What looked like a customer went to speak with that person through the door but didn't let her in. I then went to the door only to find it LOCKED! Both doors! Locked! This was 3 hours before their closing time. Two employees watched me from the prep area as I shook the door trying to open it to get in. A table crammed full of about 6 people in black shirts watched me as they ate their pizza. I walked to the windows indicating (to all of them watching me) the time and mouthing that I was picking up a pizza. They all watched me and then looked away. A customer from the only other occupied table came to push open the locked door for me. A customer! He said the last person couldn't get in either. A girl returned to his table after saying goodbye to her friends at what I now realize is a table of employees in uniform relaxing, eating there, watching me outside trying to get in. I asked why the door was locked and the girl said "The employees are trying to eat. They need time to eat. They just need some time to eat. They have got to eat!" She was exasperated and spoke as if this was a regular practice of locking out customers who arrive to pick up the food they already paid for online or those coming in to order. The 2-3 people behind the line refused to acknowledge or apologize for having locked the door. A man only said when I pressed him about it that he had no idea about the door and that it must have locked by accident. He couldn't look me in the eyes. Still, nobody went to unlock the mysteriously-locked door for me. My cooked pizzas were sitting there on wax paper and I waited for the woman to box up the two pizzas and to figure out the beverages that I ordered online. They voluntarily said nothing about the door or having watched me trying to enter the restaurant through a locked door. When the table full of employees was finished eating their group meal and started to clean up their table, one girl walked to the door and easily unlocked it. That took her literally one second and she knew exactly how to do it. No effort at all. The door was intentionally locked to keep customers out while the employees took a group dinner break. To sit there or stand behind the line and watch a woman trying to get in while it was pouring rain on her was beyond outrageous. It was completely unacceptable. I had already paid online for the pizza! Did I say it was pouring rain outside? I did mention this was 3 hours before their closing time, right? I think I mentioned it was a group of about 6 uniformed employees watching me from their dining table and 2 behind the line, did I not? I really have never experienced anything as bad and kind of embarrassing at any other pizzeria or restaurant. Or at any other business for that matter. I forgot to mention the pain in my shoulder from pulling quickly on a large door that was shockingly locked. For NOT ONE of those people to have come to the door and to have just sat there or to have stood behind the line watching me repeatedly tug at the door assured me how intentional the act of locking me out really was. I won't comment on the pizza, because no matter how good or bad it may have been, I will never return to Blaze pizza. With supervision/management/policies like theirs, this location will not survive. The menu board was easy to read and we never felt rushed to make our selection. I opted for the White Top Signature Pizza. It consisted of a creamy white garlic sauce, mozzarella, bacon, oregano, and was topped with fresh arugula. The crust is pretty thin so you won't have an issue eating a whole pizza by yourself (YESSS!). You can also build your own pizza, but I think the Signature Pizzas are honestly the way to go. Each one is a unique and creative combination of delicious flavors. I also noticed various salad options as well as some yummy desserts like S'Mores cookies! An interesting thing worth noting - Blaze uses lots of eco-friendly, environmentally sustainable, and compostable products from their cups to their cardboard pizza boxes. I am thrilled to have just been passing your high sign on 81 on my drive from Asheville to Jersey. It was such a welcome sight in the nothingness and sea of fast food options off the interstate. I am beyond grateful to see that the restaurant was open and very well staffed! The owner is doing something right! They had a beautiful option Festive and Fresh advertised that just spoke to me . I felt so understood on my travel journey and taken care of the healthy option, warm meal and the very well kind staff! I welcome spot on the journey! I loved this place! Set up like a chipotle and you can modify anything on your pizza. I had the white cheese pizza with bacon Garlic knots And the s'mores desert The pizza was amazing cooked perfectly with just enough "fired" burnt taste on the crust (minor) The garlic knots were good as well and they came out first which I liked. The time on the pizza was 10 minutes or less. The desert was good just tasted like a moon pie. What impressed me the most was the customer service. This was my first time and the cashier asked that and then explained how everything worked. Each stage your pizza had the employee made sure you liked the Result of what they did . 3 stars because my husband's pizza was what he ordered and he enjoyed the crust. I had heard they carried Vegan Cheese so when ordering I asked if they had dairy free and the server had no idea what I was talking about until I said Vegan Cheese. I ordered the Veg Out and the Seasonal Vegetable was corn. I thought that was pretty weird on pizza so opted for red peppers. First impressions was cleanliness is not a priority. In the midst of a pandemic this is a key factor for us. I used a LOT of hand sanitizer while there. 3 customers and lots of staff standing around who could have been wiping down and sweeping. My husband ordered a Shock Top and a fly came out of the tap and the server then said they were out of Shock Top! I ordered the basic crust and it was too thin and I like thin crust. My onions and green peppers were still crunchy, not enough oven time. Some of the mushrooms tasted 'off' as described elsewhere. They were out of the spicy sauce. The staff were very friendly just unorganized. Overall a bland experience and not somewhere I will drive from out of town to visit. read more

Ordered for curbside pick up. Got a special for 1 large pizza, breadsticks and 2 sodas for $22. Good deal imo. Online said it would take 20-25 minutes. I waited so long I thought they forgot about me so I had to call in 2 times to make sure they didn't forget about my order. They were super busy and it took almost 1 hour to get my food. Pizza, breadsticks and sodas were lukewarm. I considered just returning food and asking for refund but I really did want to try the pizza so I kept it. Pizza was really good considering it was not hot and obviously been sitting around for long time before I got it. Same with the breadsticks. Didnt even drink the sodas as they were too warm to enjoy and we had no ice. Over all the food was good and I wont hold too much against them as it was Saturday night and they were really busy. Gave Blaze a try since it was new. I like the concept of the build your own pizza, but was disappointed with the overall experience. I used the bathroom when we got there and found it to be in pretty tough shape (dirty) for being such a new restaurant. The kid that took our order was friendly and helpful, and we moved quickly to the topping area of the line. That process was relatively smooth too. We then took our drink cups and exited the line while our pie was baked. The drink station was self serve. There were a number of folks crowded around including a poor girl who was pouring the lemonade into the vat. She was barely tall enough/strong enough to do it. What was even more disappointing is the hoard of folks "standing" around behind the counter doing nothing. The seating area was not kept. There were many tables with trash still on them from previous customers. Also, there were three folks goofing around on the other side of the store building pizza boxes. They were being loud and obnoxious. On their phones and just generally playing around. A few minutes later the end of the line guy shouted our names and we got our pizzas. They were hot out of the oven and the quality of the food was pretty good. As we left another employee (I could tell by his t-shirt) parked his vehicle right in front of the entrance with his windows all down blasting music and smoking a cigarette. He was parked in such a way that we couldn't hardly get out of our parking space and other cars were waiting to pass. If you want a coal fired oven pizza save ten bucks and get a better pie and a better experience just across the street at Angelo's. You won't be disappointed. We may try this place again. Okay, so they get two stars because I've been there before and the pizza was good. Maybe an 7 on a scale from 1-10. Today I went and the place was a wreck. We waited and we're not greeted and they made us wait. The one guy said, "Hey, there are people there." His reply was that we would have to wait. The two stars are not for the establishment or food. It's for the customer service that I received both times I ended up inside this restaurant. The first time I came into Blaze Pizza was my first ever experience with the brand. Myself and a friend of mine who has a gluten allergy decided to hit up Blaze specifically due to the fact that she could eat there because they have a gluten free option as a main menu item. We show up a hour and half before closing on a Friday evening and everyone is standing around due to dinner rush already being over. I order my basic cheese pizza with no problems. My friend asked for the gluten free dough and out loud we hear in the back "Ugh, I already cleaned and closed down my gluten free press." Then the girl attending the bar asked if they needed to change gloves because of actual allergy or is it just dietary and my friend said "I'm so sorry, but yes if you could because I have an actual allergy." Then we hear this lady in the back out loud making snarky comments the whole time. Once the awkwardness was over, we ate our food. The lady that was making comments disappeared and then randomly kept coming up to us asking if we liked our food as if she was forced and the tone came across very condescending. We threw the rest in the trash and left. Later on that month my said friend did a pick up online order and I went in and picked it up. Traffic was crazy and I got there 15 mins after the pickup timeframe. I walked over and didn't see my order - apparently someone accidently got ours and came back and said it wasn't theirs so I was there to say "Oh that's mine!" And the guy working the pickups looked at me and yelled " Dude it's been waiting here!" In a very aggressive tone. Our pizzas were cold, which you would think they would have hot boxes for online pickups and not just leaving our pizzas out on the table for anyone to grab them. Overall they need to work on customer service. If anything if you're having a bad day make sure you make your comments behind closed doors where customers can't hear you. read more
