Hot dog was a hot dog and not a great quality, albeit a nicely grilled bun. The buffalo tenders were frozen chicken patty, not a tender at all with franks red doused on them and sat in a puddle of it. Table top condiments felt and tasted watered down. Update on my review, I've been here 4xs now and I have to say I love their burgers. The burgers are juicy with a nice crust and I always get it with grilled onions,grill mushrooms, bacon (.99), pickles, and fresh diced jalapenos. Since this is a new biz, I'd like to give them some support. My wife and I tried Blazes the other day while looking for a quick place to pick up a burger in Westbrook. Although I can't say we were floored by the food, we will absolutely be coming back. The burger was perfectly sized (not too gargantuan that it's overly messy and not too small that we were still hungry) and tasted great! We also ordered fries and onion rings, and they don't skimp on the portions there either. The greater Portland area is a foodie's paradise that offers plenty of solid burgers, and although Blazes might not crack a "best of list" for Maine, it should absolutely be considered for anyone looking for fast, tasty, and overall CHEAP place to grab a bite. read more

Unfortunately, the regular tots were way over salted and they didnt give us any condiments, napkins or plastic forks which made my wife's bunless burger a challenge to eat. Our second visit to the establishment and all I have to say, what took us so long to get here. Sunday afternoon early dinner, we ordered two cheeseburgers and fries. Hubby added grilled mushrooms. I was more traditional with LTPO. The wonderful cashier (I didn't get her name ) but she was fantastic, delivered our food. It looks like a work of art. The cheese was melting on top of the beef burger and the bun was toasted to perfection. I picked up the burger and NEVER put it down. The lettuce was crisp, tomato ripe and sweet pickle chips that added a nuance of flavor in my mouth. It was hands down one of the best I've ever had. The fries were crisp and flavorful. You don't need salt or ketchup to these babies. The staff was friendly and engaging as I chatted away. I'm so glad this place is thriving in Westbrook. Steve ---hamburger, larger tater tots with salt and vinegar and large onion rings. Me cheeseburger, fried onions and large fries. Minimal cost for extras. No nickel and diming to death. Short wait for food. Cook served and very fresh and hot. Burgers done just like Steve likes medium Well done and dry---he loved. A+. Not my fav. type but still really solid burger. The best burgers you will ever eat. You order it the way you want and that's the way you're going to get it. The fries themselves are a meal in itself. First time eating there. Wasn't very busy as it was after 7pm. We both ordered (at the same time) a cheese burger & onion rings. His food came out in a timely manner, mine came out over 10-15 min later. As we were getting the food to go, his was cold by the time I got mine. Burgers were dry, lettuce dark green around edges & looked old, and a very thin small slice of tomato. Didn't have the ice cream so can't speak to that. The people were friendly. read more

I've really grappled with this review because Blaze's is objectively delicious. The problem is the wait and the young adult (teenage?) help. We've been to Blaze's about 5 times and they can get slow when they are busy. The teenager working the counter does not necessarily give you all the options for your burger (what kind of cheese, how you would like it cooked, etc.) so ordering online is the way to go unless you know what to ask for. After waiting 40+ minutes for our burgers one time, we decided to order ahead the next time. On our most recent outing, we ordered online, so we could eat in the restaurant (the tots get a bit soggy in the to-go containers.) We arrived on time, paid for our sodas, and the same teen cashier said he would head out back and grab our food, noting that we were wanting to eat there. They were a bit busy so he took a few orders and no food was forthcoming. Assuming they were backed up in the kitchen we waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, after 30 minutes he brought out food for people who had ordered long after us. We asked where our food was and his reply was "I was wondering why you were still sitting here. Didn't you get it to go? Your food is probably sitting out back." Sure enough, our food (which was packaged to go rather than what we had requested.) He plunks it down on the table, says "sorry", and walks away. Our food had been sitting for 30 minutes, was now cold, not how we had ordered it, and we got nothing more than a flat half-apology. We left. To their credit (and why this isn't a 1-star review) the owner (?) called us and had refunded the food. We have had some good burgers there for sure but we will never be back. read more

What an exceptional place for a burger. The cheeseburger was delicious, juicy and cooked exactly as I asked. We got tater tots and they were nice and crunchy and made a perfect pairing with the burger. They have a lot of items on the menu and they looked great on other plates. I've lived in Westbrook for a few years now and don't eat out much but have been hearing rumors about this place. I loves me a good burger so gave it a try today. Let's start with the service. Placed my order over the phone and the person was very friendly and also very quick to serve and friendly at pick up. It's a nice little place with a little bar as well. Clean, and has a nice little patio out front facing the park. Now enough with that $#!+ and let's get to the food. I ordered the big blaze and poutine. It was like they were milking the teats of the food god herself. This gigantic burger (with everything and damn boys I mean EVERYTHING) was cooked perfectly. Tender not undercooked. Juicy not greasy. And seasoned perfectly like a 20 some year old PT dancer. This is what burger dreams are made of... if you have those... that's kind of odd... Being a northern guy with lots of French Canadian family I always expect the same with poutine down here, frozen fries, shredded mozzarella instead of cheese curd and bland gravy. NOPE! This was the real fricken deal! They even put the cheese curd on while it was nice and hot so it could start melting but kept the gravy on the side so it wouldn't get soggy. Nothing worse than a limp spud! The gravy was flavorful and hot, and while I may need to increase my Lipitor for a few days, this was DEFINITELY worth getting...just like my portable defibrillator. My buddy also got the fried pickles and the all beefed up grilled cheese. I'll let you know what he thinks when he wakes up from his food coma and wipes that damn grin off his face. Ok. I lied.
