I was so glad that this place was open during the day on tigers opening day. Being older I probably would have never stepped in to this place in the evening thinking that I may not fit in. The bar is beautiful and the venue itself is fantastic. You see the mix of all of the old theater and the new dance hall. Woman at the front desk, she was black, had long curls and heavy set saws her friend who was this short guy, let him cut in line and told him the cover is 47.50 for two people and then told me and my friend it was $40 each and when I told her that she told someone else it was different she started raising her voice and getting mad at me. Then the short guy got mad at me too. I wish I had gotten her name but the environment was very stressful and hostile. I honestly wouldn't recommend anyone to come here because of the staff mostly, it'll take a toll on your night. Seriously hit or miss here! This club is all over the place from top 40 to electronic to dance to latin which is cool.. drinks are VERY OVERPRICED wow I couldn't believe it over the summer! I got to meet the owner. He was very accommodating to the Swank Deco Fashion Show that was held there last week. and the employees were SUPER helpfull. they even assisted me and the other models when they were tackling the whole event up stairs too!!!. Waitress Made sure I got a well needed drink since I had to help with a few no show make up artist and hair stylist!!! The Bar tended to me along with the crowd while we had some models who had some 10 second outfit changes to do. Bottom Line. Unfortunately, this space wastes all potential. It has an interesting layout with a DJ booth on the dance floor, so there is space to avoid the large crowds. It's an old theater, so it has character, and it can draw events such as the Jay-Z concert afterparty. However, it receives zero stars for one important reason - they took photos of credit cards and IDs (front and back) to secure a tab, and used what looked like a personal phone to do that - it's an identity theft starter kit for any employee who works there or anyone who has access to that phone. This means that if you go, you need to cancel your credit card immediately after leaving, because anyone could be you. Canceling your credit card should not be a standard part of a night out, so I can't recommend that anyone go here. If you do, for your own sake, please bring cash. read more

This review is only based on one experience... but oh what an experience that was. The cons: definitely the price!! Expensive cover, and $4 "mandatory" coat check. The pros: entertainment galore and amiable bouncers (for once!), chill crowd (I had no idea this was an 18+ bar club) We went here with a group of ~20 people last weekend and decided to do the $275 bottle service. Split among 20 people, it wasn't bad and it was nice to be able to sit on the couches to the side whenever we wanted. They were even really cool about us letting other friends mosey in and out of the roped off couches, whether or not they had wristbands. The waitresses serving us were surprisingly nice too. It just blew my mind that everyone from the big teddy bear bouncer at the door to the "bouncer" standing by the roped off couches, to the bottle service waitresses were nice. NONE of the bouncers were douchebags. They weren't annoying or rude, but just wanted everyone to have a good time. Even when a guy in our group got completely out of control, they didn't kick him out but just let us keep him near the couches. This was also my first time in a dubstep bar. Ever. I have been to techno "house music" clubs in Germany, and hated it. When I heard this was a techno club I was anticipating an early night for me, but I loved it. It was actually GOOD dubstep remixes to popular songs, not just random noise with one obnoxious bass beat. A friend of mine said a DJ from technofest was DJing (Matt Clark?), and he was good. The venue is amazing too. It looked small at first, but it's really not too bad and it never got uncomfortably crowded. The entertainment was awesome too - girls spinning light up hula hoops and swallowing fire! A guy I talked to said they don't do this every weekend, so I guess we got lucky. For those that want something short of a strip club, there was a brief stint of a near-naked woman dancing as well... wearing nipple tassles of course... gotta keep it legal. Came here for the CLR Movement after party. Stayed less then hour and left. -It was about an hour after Movement ended, this place was already packed from the back to the front. Obviously they over sold the venue. -Even with a ticket, there was a massive line. While people on guestlist's were getting in ahead of us. Absolutely no organization. -Impossible to even get to the bar, and even more impossible to keep your drink in your hand because your arms will take up precious real estate for them to pack more people into the venue. Chris Liebing's show and set was sick.. too bad I was not in the mood to enjoy it. I would love to come back again on a more mellow night. BEWARE!!!this place is a scam, where is Rob Wolchek(fox 2 hall of shame) when you need him. My daughters sorority had a private event there. They paid just for the venue like $30k, no food or drinks. Drinks cost $10 for beer and $15 for drink or shot! One bartender would take the guests ID's(if he thought they might be fake, not all were) and then charge them $50 each to get back and then serve them. Other bartender didn't card anyone because he wanted to make tips. So both are doing illegal business one is scamming you to buy it back for $50 then serving you. Then the bouncer would put girls outside on the street for something like not having a wristband on. They called it a "Timeout" on the steeet by themselves in Detroit and if they wanted to get back in and not wait like a halfhour they could pay the bouncer $$ to get back in. What a racket on paying all this money not getting anything included and then trying to scam the girls out of more money for an expensive drink, charging illegally to get ID back or back in club. Ladies -- watch out, there are quite a few creepers who stand along the side of the dance floor waiting for some chick inebriated enough so they can hump their leg. Leg humpage aside, great music, good dance floor and layout. The bouncers are lame and they'll make you wait out in the cold for a long time before they let you in despite having nearly NO ONE in the club. The waitresses are walking around in underwear, which is a plus if that's your thing. The drinks are weak and expensive (pre-gaming is HIGHLY recommended). It's close to a people mover stop, so if you wanted to park in Greektown it would be easy to get to Bleu that way. read more

This place has really gone downhill. I hadn't been here in years. The last time I was here, I went for a friend's birthday party and it was pretty decent. Good drinks, service, and it was fun and busy. My most recent visit, however, was awful. First and foremost, the place was completely dead. I'm not one to complain about expensive cover if the place is outstanding with a wonderful atmosphere. We wound up paying high cover for a place that was completely dead, dirty looking, and underwhelming. The drinks were also WAY overpriced. I don't mind paying a high price for a quality cocktail (in fact I almost expect it), but I literally watched them use a cheap pre-made long island mix for my husband, and charged premium prices for it. They didn't even have the basic ingredients available to make my martini. I've never experienced that before. In addition, the bartenders were incredibly rude and seemed drunk. How unprofessional. The Bleu Room Experince is a good place for any techno lover. I am usually not a fan of clubs that are 18+ but Bleu is an exception. One you walk past the massive steel like doors your pretty much right behind the Dj booth. The club has 2 levls: the dancefloor is on the first level with seating on the side and then on the second level its more seating. The dancefloor is average sized and on a busy night its usually neck to neck in here. I hate going to clubs where the only thing people do is grind. This is definitely not one of those places. If you want a NYC club experience in downtown Detroit, then Bleu is yo' bag. You can see some pretty sweet techno/house/trance/electronica acts here like Deep Dish, AvB, ATB, and Max Graham here, so tix are gonna costya. Oh yeah. The drinks are gonna costya too. Bleu has a great dance floor - lots of room to bust a move if you so feel the need. The bartenders walk around in very scantily clad clothes, and that's a little scary, but i mean whaddayaexpect? Hmm parking can suck since it's on Woodward, but if you're going to Bleu, you're probably travelling with your entourage, so pony up the money to take a cab or a limo instead. Aurelia is the WORST entitled shit of a human I have ever encountered. Her piss poor attitude towards her staff is insanity to me. How any person can stand her is beyond me. She tried to yell at me in front of a customer over a drink I already served him. Told me to "shut my fuckin mouth" and I didn't know "who the fuck I was talking to". She had ME escorted out because of her ignorance, tried to refuse paying me when I worked from 8:30 until technically 3am (daylight savings) and left me standing outside without my personal belongings, including my coat and purse with my keys and my OWN money inside of it for over a half hour before she made someone bring it out to me. While I waited, she proceeded to tell security to get me away from the building, while I waited on public sidewalk for my own things. While her HUSBANDS other staff is great, I would never step foot inside that building knowing she is there. Complete piece of .... Ruining her "income", and literally an asshole when her herself would be nothing without her husband. You'll only see the same bartenders there that can hold their tongues. Because as a grown woman, I will not take that disrespect. No one deserves that, especially from someone as entitled and rude as her. I have to say that I had a good time here. Word of advice Don't get there right at 10 because it's a little dead. Me and my husband ended up staying until around 1am and the place didn't get packed, which for one I am thankful because I like room to dance around. My musical taste may not be what other agree with, but it started out good with some mainstream sounding EDM, then trap, then just rap...from the last decade, not including the last 5 years.... The staff is really nice, right down to the coat check girl! My gripe was that the bartender charged me for shots of vodka $7 a piece and redbull separate as a full can ($6)! My 3 drinks consisting of 3 vodkas and 2 redbulls cost me $33?! That's outrageous. My husband's long island was only $9 you do the math. I would suggest telling the bartender next time not to charge me separate for the redbull...or get another drink. Those are like Miami prices without the Miami club experience. At least in Miami you pay for the large space, acrobatic dancers who are super hot, and decor that rivals Las Vegas clubs. Overall the vibe is a well decorated establishment, but small. Glad this place even has go go dancers for some form of entertainment. A goodsize as long as it doesn't get overcorwded easily. I could tell that this place has much more men than women, but a bachelorette party did run through here. I'd come back when I need to get my dancing bug out. Hopefully I'll catch a night when it isn't riddled with rap and hip hop and more of a variety. read more

A group of friends and I decided to go here for NYE (somewhere way way way out of my comfort zone) - I spent $50 dollars for a ticket and arrived at 10:30 to get into the door. The line would not move, long story short my friend talked the bouncer into letting us in at 11:59. My main concern is if you're having a New Years bash, why are you selling tickets and putting your club at over capacity? There were numerous people who left the line before midnight because they knew they wouldn't get it. You increased prices on tickets not once, but THREE times. Bottom line, I had more fun outside then inside. The bartender started taking my friends order and walked away because she was being too loud. (It's a club, she was just talking loud so the bartender would hear????) Instead of confetti, paper napkins were coming down from the ceiling. It was like a awful jersey shore scene. With that being said I stayed for 10 minutes, maybe less. I would have sent an email demanding my money back, but after looking at these social media posts and the responses on low ratings, there's no way I'm going to get my money back so why even try? I'm the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding and I took her here for the Saturday night male revue show for her bachelorette party! It was incredibly interactive and the Hunk Mansion dancers are definitely talented and very friendly. There were several bachelorette parties there at once, and each bride got her moment in the "hot seat" during which a dancer gave her some very scandalous attention/dancing for a fairly long time (about three songs). There were also a couple choreographed dance numbers, and the other dancers circulated the room and danced up on members of the bridal parties in the audience. The drinks were also good! If you want to have some good, scandalous fun with your bachelorette/ladies, I highly recommend the experience! Be prepared for lots of interaction. read more

My experience at Club Bleu was the worst club experience I've ever had in my life. I will never go back there as long as I live! The DJ played awful music and nobody was vibing. He wouldn't take requests unless we paid him which is absolutely ridiculous. The bouncer had us write down our song request on a napkin and instead of giving it to the DJ he put a drink on it. Rude!! What's even worse-- the bouncers violently dragged out multiple girls for no literally reason. It was despicable! On top of all of this, the drinks were unnecessarily expensive. If there is one thing I love, it is electronic music. Having been a consultant and traveling all over the country and abroad I've been to a lot of clubs. Bleu may not be the greatest club in the world, but it is still one of my favorites. I've been many times over the past years, and I can say that just about every time has been a blast. If you're into the "club scene" then this place is a really solid choice, no question. But if you're really into the music, then Bleu goes up a few notches from there. First, the bad. It is slightly pricey, but that should be expected if you're going out to a place like this. I've definitely been to places that aren't as good and cost more though, so I don't count this as a particularly strong negative. Sometimes the lines can be a little ridiculous too. But to be honest, usually the warm-up DJs are pretty solid, so come early and take advantage of some $3 wells while you still have room to sit back on a couch and relax. No problem with the line then. Now the good. Bleu consistently pulls in big names, both up-and-coming artists from around Detroit as well as big national and global acts like Gabriel & Dresden, Way Out West, Armin Van Buuren, and Detroit's own Kenneth Thomas and Kaskade. The sound system is also amazingly good. Being someone who deals with audio a lot I can tell that some serious thought and money went into the acoustic design of Bleu's sound system, and the club is definitely way better because of it. Part of this is because of the layout of the club itself, which used to be an old theater. The lighting system is also quite nice as well. Not one of the best I've seen, but it can do some pretty cool things. Plenty of access to drinks as well, and compared to some clubs the service is really good as well. For example, one time I was standing back along the wall soaking it all in and my friend accidentally knocked my beer off the railing where it was sitting. Not really the greatest place to set my beer, so I figured I'd be out a few bucks to go get a new one. One of the waitresses happened to see this and had me follow her up to the bar where she got me a fresh beer, free of charge. Not bad, huh? Another little known fact about this place is that below the club in the basement of this old building is a lounge called UnderBleu. A lot of people that come here don't even know it exists, let alone how to get to it. Just look for the stairs down on the left side of the club as you enter. There's no sign or anything really. As such, it's pretty relaxed down there, with a separate bar and DJ who usually mixes something a little less high-energy than what's happening upstairs. Overall Bleu is one of my favorite clubs around. Sure it's not perfect, but weigh the good against the bad and you'll find that this is a fantastic choice for any night out. read more

I was on a VIP list plus my three friends and somehow they made a mistake and forgot to put plus three. She made my friends pay even though the person who put me on the list was confirming that it was supposed to be me plus 3. So having clubbed in Miami, Barcelona and NYC, I have to say that in terms of the sound system and layout, Bleu is pretty much the closest you'll get to a true 'club experience' in southeast Michigan. That said, I have had a lot of issues in terms of how they handle their customers. People pay good money for cover and still wait ridiculously long outside in the freezing cold to get in, and I think some simple reorganizing of the coat room situation and cashier would solve that. For me, I would only put myself through that again for a killer DJ. otherwise, totally not worth it. read more

One word to describe Bleu is cool. Cool atmosphere, cool dance floor, cool people, cool. I've only been a couple of times but I wasn't disappointed either time. I don't like to arrive at midnight so when my crew and I arrive it's usually around quarter to eleven. Arriving at this time assures me of 2 things. One I don't have to wait in a long line to get in and two, I'll have a chance for a table and/or seat. Bleu has never been uncomfortably crowded when I went. More so just enough people to keep the party going. The VIP section here is okay. I wouldn't say it's the best I've experienced. The wait service was a tad slow for me. Other than that I would recommend Bleu but only if you like techno and house. I'm not the biggest fan but for the sake of the atmosphere that Bleu provides I'll deal with it. read more

WOW!! had such a fabulous time here on Saturday night. There was a local dj spinning - who played a variety of old hip hop and fresh techo. The place was very empty to my surprise. luckily i had come with 45 of my closest friends. the dance floor is huge!! with private tables lining it on the sides - bottle service is very reasonable! there is a front and back bar, which makes getting drinks very easy! lighting in the club is perfect, rotating colors. i have to say the night was the best because of the staff at the club - starting with the bouncers outside, to the checkers, bathroom attendants, and bar tenders everyone was super hospitable!! can't wait to go back ! add your name to the saturday night guest list thru their website! read more
