Typical dive bar. No frills, basic beers and drinks, and cash only. They have a jukebox, pool table and vending machine with chips and some other snacks. I've been to Sugarhouse and Gold Cash Gold many times and never realized that this bar existed before and is tucked away and nestled right between the two more upscale bougie bars. We just stumbled across it as we were exploring bars during the St. Patty's Day Parade. I probably wouldn't spend all night here but definitely worth stopping in during a Corktown or St. Patty's Day Pub Crawl. Cheap beer, laid back vibe, typical corner/dive bar feel.

Like many people, I went here with a group of friends while we were waiting for a table at Slow's. It's definitely got a divey feel to it. I don't think they have much in the way of beer selection. I ended up having a can of PBR because it was really really cheap and I wasn't planning on staying long. I don't know in which decade this place opened, but I feel like it hasn't been remodeled since. Check out the pictures and you'll see what I mean. Pay close attention to the picture I uploaded of the men's restroom. I enjoyed the proximity of the urinal to the sink. I imagine one could wash their hands as they urinated, thus saving time. This bar isn't exactly a destination, but a handy place to enjoy a couple cheap drinks while waiting for a table at Slow's. I don't really see any other reason to come here. Cash only!

I think this place adds to the character of Corktown and the city overall. It's nothing fancy just strong drinks, a good juke box, pool table and relaxed atmosphere. Everything in the city doesn't need to be craft cocktails at $15 a drink. You need a few places like this where you can get LIT for about $20. This place reminds you that at its core Detroit is a blue collar town that likes to unwind with a few drinks and good friends after a long day. I am definitely a fan.

My initials is the name of this lounge! How can I NOT like it? What a Coincidence? If I owned a lounge, it would look similar to this. Sort of a dive bar but still has it's charm. Down to earth, friendly bartender, friendly people and totally unpretentious. I hope L.J.'s Lounge can piggy-back off the success of Slows barbecue just a few doors down. Me & my friend Brian downed several beers and Bacardi 151s after an awesome diner at Slows barbecue just 10 seconds away on foot. L.J.'s Lounge, you ROCK!

Still stands the test of time even with the heavy hitting Slows and Sugar House nearby.

My friend and I were determined to have veggie botanas and a couple cocktails after work. That was a no go. The first server was great. Marcus was attentive and is usually my server when I visit and sit at the bar. No such luck this evening. He was our server until his shift ended. It was his birthday and he should be allowed the evening to celebrate. Then we cashed out and were handed over to the other server, Kristi. We, two women of color, spent almost fifteen to twenty minutes trying to get her attention to take our orders. This should have been a sign that we were not valued, but we soldiered on. As time continued to tick, we found it easier to cut into Marcus's off time to get him to remind our new server that we were still waiting to place orders. She had not even glanced at us. When we finally did get our food, the botana was full of avocado, but not much else. The beans and cheese were very skimpy. And usually, one botana is enough for me to eat for two days. I had dreams of eating my leftovers for lunch at work. Not today. Oddly enough, she seemed well aware of the table full of white gentlemen seated well after us. This was new to us as we've been coming there for years and even rode out the lounge's COVID-era closure. No matter. Our business was not as valuable as others in her section though it was not a particularly busy night on a Wednesday. I ordered a drink and when the server brought it back, she sat it in front of my friend. When she looked again and realized she'd given it to the wrong person, she simply stated your drink is over there and walked away. The appropriate thing to do is to put down the other drinks for the gentlemen that came after us and give me my beverage. I was proudly a server in college. No way would I have done such. Won't happen because, again, I'm all done here. The nail in the coffin was my friend paid with a $50 bill for one small item. She did not receive the proper amount of change and had to drive back to the venue to get her money. No thanks. I think that Detroiters of color need to be respected as much as the new folks who have recently discovered the area. I'll keep my dollars in my handbag if you can't manage to see me.

Parking was free on the night I visited, but I'm fairly sure that there's normally a charge. There is a coat check, which is nice. I was alone so I sat at the bar which seats about 20 in really close quarters. There are also several tables. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and salmon croquettes with potatoes and onions. The dish was served with a sort of remoulade. The croquettes were thin and slightly overcooked with crispy edges, but had good seasoning. I enjoyed the potatoes with onion. The happy hour menu is very affordable with various food items and drinks. The regular menu items are also inexpensive. A dj was spinning, which was a great. The music was appropriate for the crowd. I bopped for sure. The staff was courteous, but I did wait quite a while for my meal and my bill. One of the owners checked on me often which made me feel welcome and my patronage appropriated. I would recommend giving it a try. I will definitely return.
