As I've mentioned in other reviews, I've been in Austin two years now. Prior to that I would visit twice a year with my boyfriend who is from here. During our visits we'd gone here a few times. Yet, not since we relocated. That changed today as we were walking home from Star Bar we decided to stop off to share a beer. It was still very early (got there right after they opened) and only a handful of people there. Quite different than most nights when it's packed to the gills. There's a reason for that-there is an amazing covered rooftop that overlooks Sixth. What a view! Often there are bands playing on the rooftop and that's a great bonus. Service is excellent! Even at their busiest, staff still manage to make you feel like you're the only customer they have. That's a good thing! I love the vibe-mixed crowd with folks of various ages. Good drinks. Decent prices. It's easy to see why locals as well as tourists frequent this rad spot. read more

Went on a Thursday night. It was one of the few places on 6th that didn't harass you to come in which I appreciated! Singer/guitar musician guy was fabulous. Drinks fairly priced. Bathrooms clean! Tip for guys here which came from my hubby: the men's bathroom does NOT have a stall, only urinals. I'll let y'all figure that out for yourselves Just a heads up! Fun place. read more

The night I went to Blind Pig was just what I needed to experience 6th street! The rooftop deck with amazing views of the Austin skyline is perfection. The deck has a huge TV upstairs and arcade games. Even though it was a Monday night, it was lively! They had a band playing and their energy was captivating. Decent bar with a good pub atmosphere downstairs. (Except for the large screen TV's). Upstairs is a larger patio area and one or the other usually has some kind of musical entertainment. On the downside they sell the beer in plastic cups which doesn't bode well for how it is on a rowdy night. The part cozy pub, part sports bar didn't really do it for me but it's well worth a look if you are on 6th street. read more

We walked by this bar a few nights in a row and didn't go in because of the young crowd - and we're not young! But - we were in town when the Lions were playing and trying to find somewhere to watch an afternoon game. They were one of the few places that had them on upstairs, so up we went. I loved the open air environment, it was a beautiful day and the weather was perfect to hang out and watch a game and have a drink. I wanted a draft beef but they don't have taps upstairs, so I had to go downstairs to order a beer from the bar then take it back up. The bartender recommended an amber which hit the spot and it wasn't expensive. We didn't eat so I can't comment on the food. The bathrooms are also downstairs in a weird dark area, not the cleanest, but they're catering to 20/30's, so maybe the bar doesn't care. read more

Most folks know about The Blind Pig Pub as this has been a landmark on the infamous 6th Street in Austin, Texas for over 15 years. I came here a few weeks back with some work peeps while waiting for out table to be ready across the street. We came in on a Monday night so there was not a crowd, and we were easily able to get our drinks and hear ourselves while listening to the live musician. We stayed downstairs but didn't venture to the upstairs patio as it was sweltering out. The bartender was courteous, prompt and mean (in a good way) with a shaker. We stayed and enjoyed our beverages for about 40 minutes. This was definitely a great spot for pre-dinner drinks. Quick drink service, big college crowd. Lots of dudes, not so many ladies both times i went over the weekend. The roof was covered, so thats nice. Big TV upstairs as well as some arcade style games. What a cool place! We came here and went upstairs to get drinks, They serve High Noons which was a big plus for them on my end! They have a great view on the second floor and a live band was playing when we arrived. We were able to be served right away and got our drinks immediately! The bartender was great and k ew a lot! This is an awesome Austin bar! By far the best live music setting of all the bars we visited. It's huge! We visited the beautiful upstairs bar twice during our June visit. Big stage. Big bar. Very large seating area. No wait for beers here. Walk up, order, drinks out in no time. This was the largest bar we visited. I didn't even see downstairs. Upstairs is open air on one end, opening up to beautiful downtown views. Only issue here was the live band played the night before when we were there. I would have preferred to see a different band. It also became a real BROfest as the night wore on. Not my scene, so we moved on. This bar is a must visit when you are in Austin. Great location on 6th street. Great service. Clean bar. This was a cute little bar on 6th street. The rooftop bar was closed when we arrived so we got our drink downstairs and enjoyed the live band for a bit then headed upstairs to enjoy the view of 6th street. I do love rooftop bars and mixing that with live music I'm sold! Unfortunately, the service is less than. We stood at the bar where a couple was seated and talking to one another and waited for one of the 2 bartenders to acknowledge us. I'm not a fan of waiving down a server/bartender for their attention (that can be taken as a rude gesture in bars) so we waited. The bartenders looked over a few times but still chose to continue their conversation. Once we were acknowledged we were given ice filled cups with barely anything in them. Why did we choose Blind Pig? a) they were one of the only spots that night already featuring a live performer (in this instance, a solo guitar player/singer); and 2) their AC was on and very inviting. We sat at the bar and chatted up the very distracted bartender. He took the time to chat with us about beer - mostly to give my friend an overview of the types they had, and what he'd suggest for her tastes. We then got into a friendly debate about Stouts and IPAs, which I'm sure took him by surprise. We ordered a couple of drinks and opened a tab; I handed over my card to keep that tab open. The guitarist was good, even though he was playing to a mostly empty bar. My friend and I did appreciate his talent, and that he covered some of the songs that were the soundtrack to our lives. At one point, he had a friend - and I think, former band mate - join him at the mic for a song or two (that's when I remembered to take pictures.) We were there for maybe 90 minutes, trying out many of their local brews and enjoying the music. We left when the crowd started to turn a bit more...young...and when we realized we were hungry. The bartender we'd interacted with had left by then, so I called over the girl who'd come in for that shift, and asked her to close out my tab. She gave me the bill, had me sign, then turned around and walked to the other side of the bar. I flagged her again, telling her she still had my card. She nodded, went to the other side of the bar, and stood there. I had to get up and ask her again to give my card back to me. Not. Cool. read more

I could not believe the audacity of the bouncer at this bar tonight. I came with more than 5 people he took not one but three of are ids nd then wanted to decline to of the females in are group. I don't even drink im simply a designated driver. it is spring break to have no tester no reader no nothing to actually check me or my group was old enough to be there and simply kick us out is insane. I have never been more disrespected by front of the house staff that I have had to write a review before. vacationing is suppose to be fun exciting and iver the top not being kicked out before I can even enter the establishment. not only did the bouncer look 15 he was trying to tell me he has "been thru this before" and we were simply " trying to deceive him" im not gonna get more into how the altercati continued but all I want to say is I have never felt more disrespected by a staff me ever before at an establishment in my entire life read more

Located om 6th street this is the place to be during the day before those mosquitos come for you and you alcohol infused blood. They have a Super cool roof garden, a lot of fun games all around, free and paid ones. We came up as the rooftop gaden had some great jams happening and some cool vibes. The Live music had all the people dancing and having a great time as the tones were super fun and well chosen the selection was very eclectic for any and all musical tastes. The drinks are well made and the price is super ok. We had a great time and I will definetly come back. I am all for keeping austin weird this place made me a believer. There was no cover charge to come in when we came here and that is definetly a plus. The Blind Pig is kind of an institution on Dirty Sixth Street. I have been coming here for about 10 years and it never really changes. The reason I come here is to see Joe sing. He has a great song list and is always into the set. We grabbed a seat at the bar and had a couple of drinks while listening to Joe crank out the tunes. My friend who is a singer knows Joe and wanted me to tell him hello so I walked up and mentioned her. He knew exactly who she was. We probably stayed about 45 minutes and then moved on. You kind of get burned out with the drunks who pile in and out after a while but that's what Sixth Street is all about so you need to just roll with it. read more

I visited the Blind Pig with family after the UT graduation and had a blast. Coming from Seattle, I really love the vibe of the rooftop/open-ceiling bar. But with that humid weather, makes sense bc I was still drenched in sweat. Appreciated the huge water jug and cups on dance floor! We arrived just as the live music was ending and the DJ was coming in. Service was fine, nothing noteworthy bad or good. A few photo booths in the building. The one upstairs seemed to have really dark lighting from the pics we saw left behind, but the downstairs photo booth was worth it to capture the moment. read more

He was talking and having fun with the group before us so we waited to order our drinks and said he didn't have the ingredients for the drink I wanted (which is understandable since it's mostly beer at this place). I'm a sucker for a bar with a roof top. I always stop here when I'm on Dirty 6th. It's a cool rooftop where you can dance to mid-2000s hits. Sometimes, the other bars on 6th get a little too hot inside/feel a little too much like a frat basement. Blind pig's roof top does not suffer this criticism. I can't say the same about their main floor though. It's dark, but more like how a dungeon is dark than a club. The drinks are a little expensive but they have pretty standard prices for 6th street. You don't go to dirty without paying a premium for the drinks. Their beer selection is pretty limited. But, the mixed drinks are fine. Be warned, they lay on the 2000s nostalgia hard. I think I heard them play fergalicious 2x in 1 night. You could see this as a positive. It's kind of an austin thing in general. They know their audience. Be warned. They bar only accepts credit cards with a 10 dollar minimum. They will take your card, give you a drink, and then make you buy another drink to hit the minimum. Its fun to watch the college kids and bachelorette/bachelor parties get sloppy while jamming out to Kanye West pre 808. If you're in the mood for that, come here and do it on a roof top. read more
