Good food. I recommend the fish and chips. Piping hot and moist! Large portions served with reumode sauce. It actually worked with the fish! Not a fan of the pig in a blanket. The sausage was a bit spicy and it was kind like an Oscar Meyer Weiner. The pastry crust was flaky and kinda slid off the dog. It's a bit noisy but service was spot on! We had Matthew and he was amazing! They have a lot of fancy bar drinks so it's perfect for the gang to hang out for drinks.

Perfect local neighborhood bar feel, playing the best music, with the best bartenders that were so welcoming! Felt like home right away and wished I didn't have to leave so soon! Great food and drinks! I had the mini black manhattan and it was so perfect. Icy cold and the best one I had in Austin so far!

Stopped in for their Wednesday Steak frites night special that comes with a vodka/gin drink. We chose the higher end prime rib steak and it was not great - very chewy, impossible to cut with their steak knife, and at least 30% was not edible (fat, gristle). For someone who wants a well textured steak, do not upgrade to this option. We also got a Tavern burger, mushrooms, and cream puffs dessert. Everything else was quite tasty. The martini did taste quite strong - which was nice with an included cocktail. The service was great and our server was fabulous - personable, funny, and attentive. We made a reservation for 7:30PM and were seated at a common long table outside on the patio. Beware the chair leg ends falling into the gravel in between the stones outside - nearly fell out of our chairs.

The ambiance lives up to the name, it's a tavern with Austin vibes. Dim lighting dark velvet drapes and heavy on the wood furniture, leather seats and a well stocked bar. Pair this with a lively bar tender and welcoming staff and you start to understand why this unique Tavern has such an online following and gets such good reviews. There js also a really nice outdoor bar I've seen tons of people raving about on social media that seems to be a hidden gem. The food is delicious and creative. Fish N Chips seems to be a fan favorite including my own go to but the Ruben and even more so the Prime rib is where it's at. I also had a Guinness and I don't know where they get it from or if it's just fresher than other places but it's the smoothest one I've ever had. Murray's Tavern has some really cool specials on different days like Steak and Frits with margaritas or lunch combos where you can choose a listed entree on the back lower half of the menu that comes with your choice of some out of this world French onion soup or salad and a N/A drink for a extremely reasonable price. The staff is so lively and super cool they are all such friendly individuals with giving hearts and big personalities. They literally go the extra mile to ensure you have a good time and enjoy your food and drink as much as possible. I can't wait to go back have a beer and try something different on their creative menu. I liked everything about Murray's and I hope you give it a shot.

Did the trick for a guy's birthday who wanted Irish pub fare. We got: -espresso martini tower (these are minis but cute!! The espresso martini itself is fantastic) -Caesar salad (comes with anchovies on top, heads up! -fish and chips (massive, delicious) -an insane amount of oysters (overpriced for what they are, but we were celebrating ok!) -burger (didn't get to try this, but they loved it) Overall, it hits the spot when you have a craving.

Dropped in for a lunch before hitting up a coworking spot, so no drinks were involved. But they seem to have a nice happy hour menu ($5 beers, $5 mini cocktails, discounted bar bites), $2 east coast oysters. Monday is HH all day; Tue-Fri 3-5pm. My gf ordered the reuben with fries; and in my GF-stage of life, I could only order the cocktail shrimp and a side of mashers. Though it's a tavern, there seemed to be handful of lunch meetings there. And it's quiet, so not a bad spot. Cheers.

Murray's Tavern gives you that warm, cozy, and rustic ambiance you expect with a tavern but with elevated, delicious food and fantastic service! FAST FACTS: * Parking - free street parking nearby as well as public lots but plan extra time in case it's busy * Reservations - available online through Open Table * Happy Hour - all day Monday ($2 oysters & $5 Guinness) and Tuesday through Friday from 3:00 - 5:00 pm * Tuesday Special - chicken Parmesan & half price bottles * Wednesday Special - steak night * Friday Special - 25 cent martini lunch SERVICE - Could not have been better! We arrived at 7:55 pm for an 8:00 pm reservation and were seated right away. Our server, Sage, took fantastic care of us from start to finish... she made sure to refill our waters, food came out quickly, and she had a super friendly and bubbly personality. We were celebrating a birthday and complementary desserts (cheesecake and profiteroles) were brought out with candles at the end of the meal. PRICING - I think the pricing is reasonable considering the food quality and portion size... it's definitely a more upscale restaurant, which the pricing reflects. BEST ITEMS: * Prime rib - cooked perfectly and the horseradish and spicy garlic cream are phenomenal! * Fish & chips - super crispy and a massive size for the price * Tavern style burger - a fantastic upscale burger... the bun is super fluffy but holds up, the burger patty is thick and juicy, and the toppings are fresh and crispy This was my first time visiting Murray's Tavern but I will definitely be back to try other items! I'd recommend it to others looking for a tavern-style ambiance with moody lighting and cozy decor, delicious cocktails and entrees, and top-notch service!

Murray's Tavern is the perfect place to spent a Monday federal holiday because they have some amazing Monday happy hour deals all day!! $5 Guinness beers $2 oysters Half price apps We tried the spinach artichoke dip, pigs in a blanket and ham/cheese croquettes with the Irish cheese. It was all amazing!! Other perks: cute ambiance on the inside, plethora of free street parking outside, fast service and the employees were all really nice.

I really enjoyed my visit to Murray's Tavern. The customer service was great from start to finish. The bartender was attentive, the waiter checked in regularly without being overbearing, and the overall service made for a pleasant experience. The food was good but nothing to write home about.., but solid and satisfying. The Guinness was fresh and poured well, which is always appreciated. One of the highlights was the mini cocktail tower, it was a clever, fun addition to the menu that made the experience a little more memorable. Overall, it's a great spot with friendly service, good food and drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. I'd definitely come back.

delicious steak! waitress was so sweet and went out of her way to bring out the food the way we had requested- which she did not need to do! mushrooms and green beans are always such yummy sides. nice and private seating in a lil booth. super busy for wednesday, definitely make a reservation! cream sauce is sweet, wasn't my preference but my partner loved it. i loved the chimichurri which has a lil bit of a kick!

Wish this was in our neighborhood to make it our local spot... So we'll have to make the drive! Great service, fun food, fantastic patio, and great people - came for steak and pomme frites special (plus a martini for $35). It was perfection! Tried a few other things on the menu and had a great time. Cheers to a life well lived!

Met a friend here last month partly because it was located near a place we planned to go dancing at afterwards. Great location. I was lucky to get a spot in their small parking lot. The food was great and I enjoyed the orgeat cocktail. There were several flies and we had to wait for one of the mini table fans that were apparently getting charged. We finally got one and it conked out halfway through our meal so we were shooing away flies while trying to eat. Service was a bit slow as we had to wait a long time to get our server's attention as he was waiting on a big table so that was a bit frustrating but overall a good time!

Murray's Tavern is an Austin Gem! Plenty of seating yet intimate setting. Drinks are delicious, best chicken pot pie, and the prime rib is fatty and tastes like butter. The service is great - we sat at the bar and the bartenders are very nice.

I went to Whisler's and had one of the worst bar experiences I've ever had…read more I had one drink. I was completely sober for all intents and purposes. The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.

We're big fans of sitting at the bar if available, so we asked to switch and it was no problem. The main reason we came to Trona was due to a pop-up happening by Foodie + Tina. Excellent handrolls, crudo and even the chicory salad was amazing. The cocktails we tried were new to the menu as of this week and came with Christmas flair. They were good but not mind-blowing. The bartenders were super nice and easy to talk to. It was really dark which is normal for a speakeasy but as another reviewer suggested, makes it difficult to read the menu. One thing I noticed was they were burning white copal and it took me immediately to Tulum, MX - smells so good! Parking was easy, in an alley nearby. It might be helpful for customers if they had signage in/near the parking lot - we were unsure if we were in the right spot initially.
