This was done a week prior to the appointment. 2 days prior to the appointment, the salon called to say the stylist will be out for the week, and no one else can do that hairstyle. So they were canceling the appointment, leaving my niece in a bind to call other salons during a weekend. Really, a staff that will be out for a week did not give advanced notice? Like they just decide to take off? Or perhaps she only has that one client for the day and decided that it's not worth it to come in? Who knows? But despite the talent we will not be calling again.

Nelly supported that if I didn't want to bleach it then don't bleach me. She pulled out some inspirational photos for me and suggested that I do a full balayage. We agreed on the color (caramel). So the day of my appointment comes, and the whole process took approximately 2.5 hours and I love how it came out. My hair does not feel dry and still looks/feels fairly healthy. Nelly only takes one customer at a time, so I had the whole salon to myself. She's very warm and very easy to talk to. We shared many funny stories on a nice Saturday afternoon. When I asked politely if they could honor the apprentice rate or offer a discount since the cancellation wasn't on my end, they declined "because we called you yesterday and she had a dental emergency". It was disappointing to be met with a lack of empathy, especially since this left me scrambling at short notice. This would have been my first visit to this business, and while I understand things happen, I wish the situation had been handled with a bit more flexibility and care.

Dye would be haphazardly slapped on, the process would take far longer than necessary and I'd routinely leave the salon with dye stains all over my forehead and temples. It's so convenient for me and a only a block away from where I live but I finally had to go somewhere else because it was stressful, took forever and for the price, I realized I could do much better. Needed an option for makeup and decided to give them a chance for a "just eyes" service. There was one stylist there when I arrived who was completing hair on someone and ran 20 min late. Not a huge deal. When she finally got to me, her next client came in about 5 minutes later and I was concerned she'd rush or I wouldn't be satisfied with the makeup. It ended up being alright, not really what I asked for but better than I was expecting. I booked the service with the intention to get individual lashes, which is included in the price. When we got to that, the artist said- what do you think? You don't really need them since it's a daytime party. Between that and the obvious time crunch, I decided on the spot (under pressure) that it wasn't worth it and would probably be rushed or done poorly so I said fine, no need to do those but regretted not speaking up. I was surprised to be charged the full price even though I didn't get lashes and contacted the salon to share the experience and to see what could be done (nothing). Too many salons in Hoboken, JC and Manhattan to deal with this.

On the day of the wedding Jenny arrived early with another artist so that the bride and her 4 bridesmaids(including myself) could get the royal treatment and not feel rushed. Both artists did impeccable work but the experience was incredible. Jenny enjoyed laughing and talking with the rest of us making the entire morning of the wedding a fun and memorable experience.
