I came in on a Saturday morning and asked for a full set and pedicure. A man sat me down and immediately began working on my nails. I told him I wanted coffin shape and a French design. He said square shape would probably look better. I said okay cool, just as long as it's French. I picked my colors and he kept doing the nails. Once it was time to do the design he says "just to let you know we aren't doing French" and then proceeds to color my entire nail. Never cut down my cuticles, left glue all around my nails, a few of them were even crooked. His attitude and vibe were very bossy and I didn't like that at all. Once he was done I was so turned off I didn't want to get a pedicure. I was charged 78 for some bs. Probably my fault for not going to my regular place but def a lesson learned. read more

This past Sunday I took my 14 year old there for a mom/daughter day... A stop over where we could chat and enjoy ourselves while getting a chair massage and pretty nails. Since we had other things we wanted to do that day, we wanted to get the BASIC mani and pedi. For two of us. And that's what we got. BUT, my chair didn't work and although the sweet gentleman working on my daughter's feet, tried to move some wires around while the lady with me barely acknowledged my existence... No one offered to move us even though our whole row was empty. Then, I kid you not, my lady set her phone up strategically on her cart so she could have a FaceTime with someone while my naked feet were for this person's viewing pleasure. Speaking her language and never looking up. Weird, right?? I felt a bit like cattle. She did this the whole time through my mani, but I was still ignored. Don't care about being ignored so much as the absolutely no eye contact or nod. Just a strange experience when I've been used to better human contact there. Lastly, no, not done yet... The bill. Two basic pedis - $35 each maybe $40. Two basic mani's maybe the same? Finally, a small nod when she handed me the bill print out. $210!! Before tip. I've been in the service business my whole life, I don't know how to stiff a tip. I should have but I honestly can't! $20 for her, $20 for him. $250 for two basics and out in an hour. Seriously? Do what you will, this is for those that care about having a lovely, spontaneous experience with your daughter without feeling violated. This was my first time going here. My husband gave a gift certificate to me for Mother's Day. I'll start off by saying the word "Awesome"! From the moment I walked I. The door I was met with a great example of customer service. Brian (Bao) was my greeter and technician. I have a boot on my foot and so I was using a knee scooter. Brian helped me to be seated, assisted me when I got up. They were just awesome. I got a design on one nail and I must say that did not impress me but it doesn't matter because the service and people made up for it. A woman had two uncontrollable kids that ran around and for a spa experience it was a mood killer but that's no fault to Bliss Nails, it was the customer. My best friend and I have been going to this salon for the past two months every two weeks and the past few times everything has been okay. I have been struggling to find a decent salon that is consistent and not to be vain but ultimately worth what these salons are charging now a days. Today we went for a fill in and my friend had her acrylics removed so she could get dip on her real nails. First off the soaked her entire hand in acetone and her skin now has multiple dry patches all over her hands. Secondly the shape of her actual nail after they filed it is completely distorted and uneven. Yet the want to charge an extra 10 dollars to make her nails look and feel worse than they did when we walked in. Now to speak on my experience..... to say it was awful is an understatement. When the nail technician was filing off my old nail polish he was literally cutting my skin to the point where I said it hurt multiple times and he kept going without acknowledging my concerns. Then he put the actual nail polish on and it is all over my skin. It is everywhere. To make matters even worse we went to check out and the woman who did my friend's nails told us one price and then the man who did my nail Came up behind her and charged extra and then requested for half of it to be paid on cash app and the other half on a card. I'm sorry but $110 for two crappy fill ins and to soak the acrylic off My friend's nails off to just mess her skin up is ridiculous. We will never come back here and that his bottom line. I asked for a fill. Well, to be fair... a fill, I did not say gel, or liquid gel. She happened to mention acrylic. Screeching halt. I want liquid gel. The very nice receptionist (probably very new), responded that they only do new gel - not fills..... When I asked why, she said that it was because it is easier to do a new vrs a fill. Customer standpoint? It is more expensive to remove my gel covered nails and replace. Why in the world I remove and replace when I only need a fill?! read more

Using a gift certificate my mom got me for Christmas, Bliss was the perfect treat for some ~relaxing and pampering~! We scheduled our double mani/pedi + eyebrow wax for 2 pm on a Saturday & I'm glad we thought ahead as this place has gotten popular! Almost every chair was full and that worried me at first, but their customer service was great and we never felt neglected nor rushed! Cindy and Lena both did amazing jobs on our nails! I love zoning out while I get a mani & they were the perfect combo of attentive yet not overbearing. We upgraded for the $12 paraffin wax treatment and both agreed it was well worth it! As a dog walker, my feet needed the extra special treatment and it truly did leave them feeling baby soft. Obviously we LOVE the complimentary drinks & snacks, as well as the decor and cleanliness of the place. Cost is also fair -- not super cheap but good for the quality -- $80 for a gel mani/pedi is much less than I've been charged elsewhere. Lastly, they have the largest selection of colors of any nail salon I've visited! Overall we left feeling very *bliss* and will definitely be back! read more

For starter's during my visit it was congested, there were woman and children EVERYWHERE-not blissful!! when I first walked in I was greeted by a man who was filing his client's nails. He yelled loudly "what do you need" Honestly,I didnt know what I needed, I had a very vague Idea what I wanted to accomplish and was looking forward to talking this through with a receptionist but nope- instead I was put on the spot and had to yell what I wanted to the entire shop, not blissful!! I was told to sit to take a seat in a vacant chair across from the man who yelled at me. So I sat there surrounded by other patrons for 10 minutes then out of nowhere some other lady grabs me and says come sit "here". We decided on a dip manicure instead of shellac- which I LOVED. My manicure looked great and lasted a long time but my experience getting my nails done wasnt great. Bliss nails needs to utilize the reception area and allow their clients to relax untill they are ready for them to come back. Manicure is great service is meh.....not sure if I'll be back. read more

Got a mani and pedi here 2 weeks ago for my first Mother's Day gift. Went with a girlfriend on a Friday during the afternoon. It was packed, but we were assisted right away. We got our pedi's done first and were treated with a compliment glass of (alcohol) beverage and snack. After giving birth, you can sure bet I got myself a glass of cranberry mimosa and a rice Krispie treat for my complimentary drink and snack! It took about 2 hours for our mani and pedi to be completed (I went with another girlfriend). The gel polish is actually still on my nails as I'm typing this review. I'm giving this place a 5 star because I had a pretty great experience, the salon is clean, and the colors make it relaxing (not to mention their massaging chairs as you're getting your pedi done). I'm giving this business a 2 star based on my boyfriend's pedicure experience but if i could rate mine it would literally be a zero. Im warning anyone, do NOT let the older Asian lady with long blonde hair do your pedicure. She does NOT listen, wayyy too rough, and did not use a sugar scrub that comes with the pedicure when I asked about it more than twice. Because I added the paraffin wax I just eventually let the battle go and honestly was over my pedicure experience as a whole. She literally peeled the wax off my feet and the wax got EVERYWHERE. She flicked the towel up after she was done and the wax flew all over my legs and said "I'm done". I had to brush the damn wax off of my legs and still get wax off of my feet. Awful experience. I'm new in town and saw Bliss across the street from my new apartment complex. The salon is decorated nicely and is very relaxing. I came in for a full set of dip powder on long natural nails and was quoted $42 dollars. That's a bit more than the $35 I'm used to paying but their powder color selection more than made up for it. Easily over 300 high quality colors to choose from. I asked for a drink when I got sat down (almost immediately) but the drink took about 10 minutes to come. Bliss has a huge selection of complimentary drinks and I got a glass of wine. The application of the powder is nearly perfect and my tech was great with handling my changing requests (like nail shape and type of top coat) during the process. (Update 8/9/18: The shop owner Anthony was extremely helpful when I came in with a chipped top coat about 24 hours after leaving his salon. I asked for gel over dip powder to save time, and my tech did what I asked, but I did not know the gel would peel if applied over the powder. Dip needs a special top coat. Anthony takes a lot of pride in his work and the products used in his shop and explained to me how the parts of the dip system work together. You can tell he knows a lot about what he's doing and won't cut corners. read more

I'd heard rave reviews about Bliss from two people in the last couple of months. I held out on going for as long as I could because I am super loyal to another nail salon in RVA. The other day when the mood hit, I didn't feel like driving 20 minutes away to the other salon, so I went to Bliss which is right around the corner from my house. I had a really great experience! I happened to be starving when I walked in and was so happy to see that they had snacks! And drinks! They were super nice and let me have a water and a cran apple (preggo friendly!) slushie which paired with my mani/pedi perfectly. I sucked that thing down! They also have alcoholic drinks (I think I even saw a frozen margarita machine in the back) for your sipping pleasure. Now, you will pay for this luxury, but their prices actually aren't outrageously high. I got a mani/pedi (regular polish- not gel) for $50. I love love loved their extensive color selection and found my new everyday nail color! The interior is pretty darn swanky with the crystal light fixtures, nail bar, and comfy pedicure chairs. Speaking of pedicure, I really liked that the bowls are lined. Super sanitary! The reason why I'm giving Bliss four stars instead of five is because the child of one of the nail technicians was roaming around freely and latched on to me and my nail technician. She talked to us and hung around us the entire length of my manicure service. I love children and certainly understand that you gotta do what you gotta do, but I thought that was odd for a place that markets themselves as being a more upscale spa type of environment. I just wanted to relax and be pampered while I read my book. In the grand scheme of things, that was just minor! I tried coming here a few months ago and they were renovating. I was glad to see them back open because I'd had a pleasant experience here before. I called to make sure they could accommodate two mani/pedi's. As with everywhere now, there are new protocols put into place. You have to fill out a form when entering and wash your hands. We sat in our pedi chairs as soon as we picked our colors. They have plastic in front of each chair to protect everyone and you must wear a mask. They did however still offer a snack and complimentary drink. I was at another spot a few weeks back that advertised free drinks with your pedi but they weren't offering them when we went due to COVID. All in all, everyone that worked there seemed pleasant, we didn't have any issues with our services and they had no problem taking my money. I never write reviews, but I felt the need to warn those who are curious about this place. My friend and I came in a little over two weeks ago on March 22 to get a fresh set. Our nail techs insisted that we only needed a fill, and more or less coerced our decision. We figured they were trying to save us money by not doing a full set, since our nails hadn't grown out as much with our previous sets. WRONG. They charged us $47 for a fill! That's more than what we pay for a fresh full set at our normal place in Short Pump! We were both utterly shocked when it came time to paying. We have never spent that much nor have ever heard of a FILL costing that much. Within those weeks, two of my nails have managed to pop off exposing what was underneath. I have never felt more disgusted in my life. I've been getting my nails done for YEARS and this is a first for me. I've had nails pop off before within a 3 (minimum)-5 week span but I have NEVER EVER seen my nails GREEN! I am horrified to uncover what the other ones look like. They either don't clean their tools or the application was not done properly. One star seems fair, solely based on the promptness for accommodating us being two walk-ins. I am honestly so disappointed with the money spent and heartbroken because I wanted to come back since I live not a minute down the road. If it were cheap, this is somewhat expected. Second time I've been and they were lovely. They don't take reservations on Sunday anymore. I walked in about 12:30pm and they took me for my fill in 5 minutes. You really need to check this salon out cause they offer free drinks/snacks. Get greeted every time you comer in and prices are they best in town. The first time I came here for a pedi was over a year ago, but I remember being satisfied. The second time I wasn't happy but I had forgotten why. I am here now for the third time and now I remember why I hated it. I got this guy named Kevin. He is pinching every one of my toes really hard, stabbing me with his fingernail as he paints my toes!
