Cavalier attitude to customers. As a long term customer and wine club member with Bliss for over 5 years I was extremely disappointed with the service received on our most recent visit. We were there with friends and I had a bottle of wine that we had not yet picked up from the wine club. I asked if we could start with that bottle but was callously told that he couldn't make money on that. I fail to see his logic when that bottle was already purchased through his wine club. There are too many other alternatives where customer loyalty is appreciated. This will be our Last visit to Bliss!!! read more

Bliss Wine Lounge is a great spot in Wauconda. There are some really good wines but the best part is how warm and comfortable the place is to enjoy a glass with your friends and talk. During nights where there is a live band the place can get packed. We went to Bliss for the music. I have to say the experience was less than par! To start off we all went up for drinks and I asked the bartender what all was with the Espresso Flight! He said an espresso, a chocolate martini and whatever I come up with, something caramel! Being that I am a bartender and like creating fun Martinis I gave it a whirl! Absolutely the worst flight ever! The Espresso martinI was ok but the other 2 were gross! My friend ordered a win and the bottle was almost empty and he brings out this small 2X4 and puts it up to the glass smacks the 2X4 down and says It's good enough! Excuse me what! Then later a couple came in and he poured their wine and they received double what my friend did with her glass of wine! I watched the bartender drink every extra amount of booze that was left over after mixing cocktails, he became messy! Apparently this is a dry bar, as he walked to the back room to mix most of his cocktails which was kind of weird! He also made appetizers for people and he was a one man show and I saw the back room and it was messy! I don't think I would order food there as the back room alone was sketchy! We decided to give it a whirl for a 2nd drink because the music is what we were there for and we tried a Len drop martini! Not great! Just so you know a Lemon drop martini should not have lemonade in it! I was basically drinking a Vodka lemonde! The final kicker for me was a customer saw him bring out food and made a comment that you do it all and the bartender says Well I am the owner! WHAT? Are you flippin kidding me? Then I hear out of his mouth when serving someone that he Doest give a fuck! Great attitude for a owner of a bar, if you call that! So if you like wine only, this may be a place for you. I don't think the prices are that great for the quality you receive. If you are a local I can see why you like this place because they have live music but other than that this is a place I wont be coming back to as I was in total shock that a place like this that has a ton of potential is run this way! read more

I've been coming here for a few years and the only reason I gave them a 4 instead of a 5 is because their sparkling wine by the glass could be improved. I believe that one of the reasons Wauconda is our destination from North Barrington versus the Lake Zurich/Deer Park area is because of Bliss Wine & Gifts. I am amazed at the sense of community at Bliss with Bulldogs and Franks Karma Cafe- all on Main Street. Bliss is a great place to wine taste and have lunch. You can order from Bulldogs or Franks and eat it there with a glass of wine or microbrew. I really like how the wines have a great price point, but are delicious. read more

Great place to hang out on a Friday night with the live music. Cons: lack of space and tables. Also because of it being a small space, if you are sitting at one of the first few tables, the music is way too loud and you have to shout to have a conversation with the people you're with. They do have a very small menu with a few appetizer items you can order, but they're a little pricey for the quantity. We got the spinach artichoke dip and it wasn't even warm - and served with just five small pieces of crostini. We had to go to the bar and ask for more. Wine prices are also expensive - $4 - $5 for what they call a half-pour, which is basically a few sips. read more

Have to try Bliss if not even to hang out there while you wait for a table at a neighboring restaurant. A nice feature too is if you just like hanging out there and get hungry, but don't want to brave the elements, you can go up to the bar and they can show you a menu and place an order for you from Bulldogs across the street. Bulldogs then will run your food over to you and you never even have to lose your seat! They have a lot of great music that is usually just great background music like guitar players and smaller bands. Its fun to just hang out and listen to some great easy music. I think Bliss was made especially for people like my wife and I. She loves wine, and I'm a craft beer junkie, so naturally we loved our experience here. They have some great beers available, and of course, a ton of wine. We did find ourselves wishing there was a bit more seating (to be fair, it was a busy Friday night), but we did notice that if you're at a table, it doesn't look like they leave the bar to check on you or see if you want anything else to drink. We'll come back often, for sure, and noticed that they have several nearby restaurants where you can order food and they'll let you have it delivered there. read more

It took me way too long to discover this gem that's right in my backyard, and now I'm making up for lost time. This has truly become a home away from home. We stop in often. I meet my girlfriends for a quick tasting and take a couple of bottles to go. It's very small town so we run into people we know during almost every visit. Maria is very knowledgeable and quick to recognize what your favorite taste is and offers options for your pallette. Scott started bringing in some great craft beers (which is awesome for my husband since he's not a wine guy). The mood changes often, some days they feature a local band for some great fun, some days they have a harpist for a more classic ambience. Either way, it's a great time.
