This winery is a gem in Long Grove! I'm up from FL visiting my brother and some friends. My brother and I love wine so he brought me here. Karen was our host and she was absolutely delightful. I really appreciated hearing her candid thoughts on the wines. We followed her recommendations. The reserve Cabernet $55 was delicious and very fruit forward just like you would expect from a Paso Robles Cabernet. It was perfectly dry with a robust body. We brought a bottle home and did a blind taste test with other Paso Robles Cabernets. It won! We also had bread sticks and olives. The property is lovely. It makes for a great ambiance. read more

The wine is okay (better than most you'll find in Illinois) but service can be hit or miss depending on when you come in. The bar can get very crowded and you can get a bottle to sit somewhere but it's a little hit or miss (depending on how busy) with if someone will serve you or if you have to go back up. The last time we were there service was really spotty and they were entertaining a very large crowd by the bar so that was the priority. Also, like all businessss in Long Grove, they can dictate their own schedule depending on how busy it is. We ended up coming in on a Friday night and were told they were closing even though posted hours said they should be open another hour. read more

What a gem of a place! I can't believe it took me this long to come here. It's the cutest little place. Feels super cozy like a coffee shop and has the best wine at a fair price. We got a red blend for only $32 dollars and enjoyed it with live music. This place allows your to bring outside food in and Joanie's actually comes into the restaurant to deliver it to your table. If you haven't had Joanie's (Detroit Style) - do yourself a favor and try it. O M G. This is a great little venue in Long Grove and well worth a visit. Their staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I've been here twice this year. Once in February when we saw some live music and celebrated a friend's birthday. We were able to bring in some treats and ordered the snacks that they provide. If you're looking for a more substantial meal, you can order from some local establishments. They have some really great wines (or so said our group - I'm not a really big wine drinker), so I ordered a hard seltzer. They introduced me to Fresca Mixed (which is awesome), but they also have cocktails and can mix for you any kind of drink (within reason). There are a bunch of tables of varying sizes inside and they can handle parties as well. The second time I went was again with a group, but this time we were outside at a table that didn't quite fit us. However, when another table opened up, they were very accommodating in letting us use it for the food we ordered from a local pizzeria. On this occasion, we saw a good band and enjoyed the nice weather, had some good drinks, and the atmosphere was nice. We will definitely return. read more

Reserved seat for singer Simply Elton on a Saturday night in Long Grove. Staff was kind and attentive, as there were people everywhere at seats but also in their own lawn chairs. We wanted snacks but there were only two choices of cheeses and similar only two types of crackers. The bartender put the cheese and crackers on a nice wooden tray, with higher end paper utensils. Wine Not! Lots of great options in wines. I got a bottle of the red wine, the Cabernet, great aroma, nice fruity body with a balance between the acidity and sweetness. My friend and I came here on a random night where there was trivia night. It's such a cozy spot with two levels and outdoor patio. What a fun, cool place! They have awesome wine selections and also serve liquor and beer. The staff is amazing and always kind, thoughtful and accommodating! They have live music and my friends and I enjoy getting a table outside in the warmer months and just chillin' and enjoying the relaxing vibe. My family had what has become our Broken Earth Friday after Thanksgiving special occasion celebration spot, including my sons post wedding reception, and this year my Thanksgiving/birthday. Family members asked me to share how fabulous the new addition space is. So comfortable,convenient & welcoming. Karen is a wonderful hostess. She and her team make us feel so welcome. My sister Gail commented that seeing her once a year is like reconnecting with a long time friend who you wish you could see more often. This is my wife's all time favorite wine bar. It's a hidden gem in the heart of downtown Long Grove. It's been here around 8 years. It's a wine bar but they do serve liquor and beer. They also have a variety of cheeses and crackers. If you'd like you can have food delivered as well. They have a loft that can be reserved as well. I did this for a surprise birthday party for my wife and she loved it. Broken Earth has live music on the weekends. Usually lite or softer oldies. They have several rooms so if you don't want to hear the music you can move away from it. If you want to try different wines they do serve flights. read more

Dear Yelpers, The perfect way to start day three of the wine tour! We got to sit inside and enjoy the lovely couches and amazing service. Then, the wines...phenomenal. We got to try several of their flights and had to fight over which bottles we were going to buy! The Pull brand cab was smooth and flavorful. The Estate petite Syrah and Chardonnay were delicious. We had a bridal shower here over the weekend. We got to use the room to the left and they served us Prosecco but we brought our own juices. They had different types of red, rose and beer for us. They let us cater from next door Joanie's and let us bring our own sweets! The host and bartenders were super accommodating and helped us whenever we needed something! We stopped in here hopping to grab lunch on the day of the apple festival; they only have cheese, salami etc but we rolled with it and grabbed a table inside, being tired from a lot of walking in encroaching heat. The winery was cool (temperature wise) and most people were sitting outside. The charcuterie platter wasn't the greatest ever but it filled up three hungry people well enough. My festival companions partook of the wine, which they enjoyed; I had just had apple cider sangria outside at the festival so abstained. Staff was friendly and attentive even while busy. The bathroom is upstairs (as in staircase)& if they had an elevator I didn't see it, so that was challenging with my cane but I made it. We had a lovely afternoon here sampling the wine flights and enjoyed our own lunch since it's BYOF. I didn't have high expectations of the wine, and I was proven wrong. The majority of the wines I tried were delicious and I ended up finding a new favorite! In fact, I loved the Diablo Negro so much, I ended up buying a bottle of it. First thing is first... Who's house is this?! Walking up to Broken Earth Winery can't help but notice how homey this spot looks & feels, from the paved path entry cutting through the perfect green grassy area and flower beds to the patio furniture out front with lime green umbrellas. Once inside you'll notice the very roomy interior which was obviously a large home at one point but the space has been converted into many areas to sip, chill, and unwind. We were warmly greeted upon entering but I guess being kind of early in the day we weren't given much instruction whether to seat ourselves or anything so we end up awkwardly looking around and just plopping down in the seating area near the slot machines and large window. Menus were available on each table but no came around to check up on us or offer us water in the meantime so we just made our way toward the bar and put in a few orders for some wine samplings. The good thing is that tastings are only $1.50 a pop! And they have a very nice selection of different styles of wine. I tried a couple different options which were pretty good. Anyways, I wish I could give more insight on this spot but it was basically dead for daytime Saturday with just a handful of people at the bar and almost no service really. Honestly, I think we probably would've hung around longer had there been someone coming around and tending to us and dropping some mad wine knowledge on what they had to offer. Good Afternoon, The Hostess working today during Long Grove Apple Festival did not demonstrate rational reasoning. My group of 7 people who were very interested in purchasing enough products to support the business were not treated with rational service. There were 1.5 hours before the 1st reserved tables were to be used. Plenty of enough time for a group to produce sufficient cash flow to the business. We asked the hostess if she was willing to accept a 45 minute time limit, which is plenty of time for our group to enjoy a simple Flight and order bottles to go. Note: there were groups already seated in the reserved section but they were not associated with the group to be in 1.5 hours. Management, we were honestly looking forward to enjoy your restaurant. On September 30th, I called Broken Earth to see if they had any empty clear wine bottles that they would no longer need. Tina, whom I believe was the manager, was able to locate 4 when I explained it was needed for my sister-in-law's wedding reception (card and guest book table, etc). When I arrived, the place looked like somewhere I'd like to visit once my schedule cleared. We received the bottles and expressed our appreciation. I did notice the bartender made a comment about no longer "needing to go to the dumpster anymore." At the time I did not think anything more than face value,and that maybe she meant less side-work for her at the end of the night. A few days later, I called back to see if they had any more empty bottles they planned to toss. My sister-in-law needed two more and who wouldn't mind helping a stressed bride if they can? That's how I was raised. Again, I spoke to Tina and said there was two I can pick up. I stated that I would be on the way and we both said "bye". My phone was connected to the Bluetooth in my car and I heard everything said before she hung up on her end. "You won't believe, this girl called again and wants two more! She is on her way." I may have missed a word or two but you get the point. I was appalled and uncomfortable, and decided against picking up the bottles. If you did not want to be of assistance, decline. At least have the tact to hang up before speaking negatively. I have worked as a bartender in downtown and River North in Chicago and well as a prestigious steakhouse during college and my early 20's. I can tell you that was not good customer service within the industry. On my first visit, I did not have cash to tip but I did that evening. This review is intended to share my experience there and maybe shed some light. That is the attitude of the manager and that it may be fostered within the environment. read more

Love this place! First time here last night, I came for a friends birthday celebration. The atmosphere is very modest yet trendy. There are 2 floors, not the largest of places but great for a one on one or small party. There was an ample selection of wines and the descriptions were really good. I went for the dessert wine sampler and I liked one of them so much, VIN de Vie, that I ended up ordering a 6 oz of it. The prices are really good, compared to some of the other local wineries. My only complaint was that they did not have moscato, but as mentioned there were other sweet options. They also had ample TVs throughout the place. 2 large ones upstairs and others downstairs. They do not have food on site, but you are able to order in from other local establishments. There is ample parking across the street it in the main lot by Mill Pond. I WILL be back in the future. Possibly thinking about doing my own birthday celebration there this year. They host bachelorette parties too. Yes! One of my new favorites. Highly recommend ! read more

It was a great selection of wines with an amazing hand tossed pizza which we enjoyed on a warm summer night. Live music was a surprising addition to our night.
