TL;DR: I paid $74 for a 75 min "Extended Service" for a blow-dry with waves and received a 35 min basic blow-dry. Probably best to try somewhere else. ......... Really need a blow dry spot and was excited to try this one out. Booked a "Blow Out with Extended Time" because I have long hair and wanted a blow dry plus a couple waves. For reference, the regular "Blow Out" is $59 for 45 mins and the "Blow Out with Extended Time" is $74 for 1 hr 15 mins. I got there at 5:15pm. The air is actually hazy from all the hairspray in the air. I have never seen that in a salon before - may be wise to invest in a better air circulation solution? I was told to take a seat but the small couch was full of people waiting. I was taken for my wash at 5:30pm, 15 minutes into my appointment time. The wash was okay, no massage. But the crazy part was that the "Extended Time" 75 min blow dry that started at 5:30pm was over at 6:05pm. It was okay for a regular blow dry (which explains the 2 stars) but there were no waves, no additional anything. I could tell she was in a rush and was hoping to make up time during my appointment. After the rapid blow dry, my stylist pretended by adding 2 curlers to my hair and then I watched as she walked over and chatted with another stylist. They peeked back at me and smirked at each other like they were pulling a fast one before she returned, removed the curlers and said "All done". He worked efficiently and completed my blowout in approximately 50 minutes, which he confirmed at the end of the service. I have very long hair, and he did a solid job styling it. At checkout, however, the manager stated that because my hair is long, I should be charged for an extended-time service and mentioned that it had been noted on my account. This was not communicated to me upon arriving or during the appointment, and I have not encountered this policy at other locations. Since the service was completed in under 60 minutes, this contradicted the website's description, which specifies extended time only for services requiring 60+ minutes. After some discussion, I was ultimately told the charge would be treated as an "exception" and that management would review the website language. I was also informed that a note would be added to my file, and my receipt reflected a service time of 1 hour and 10 minutes, which did not align with the actual duration confirmed by my stylist. When pricing policies are applied inconsistently and documentation does not reflect the actual service provided, it raises concerns about transparency. Person who washed my hair, didn't wash out all the soap. (Nadia?) She didn't do my hair right at all and was blowing it the wrong direction. Had to have somebody else start over and she was trying to be helpful and rehashed hair. However, hair was not done at all the way I asked. Did not curl it or style it as shown in pics from day before. She was very rushed as they had people waiting . Employees who worked there do not speak English and I had trouble communicating with them. I would have given this place the rating of one for today service. I made an appointment for 8::30 am on Sunday and was very pleased with everything I had done- excellent head massage as well as a blowout. I came into my appointment hopeful but the lady doing my hair barely asked me questions, and didn't understand what I was asking for even though all I said was curls. Towards the end of the blowdry service, I asked for more volume in the front and she understood. I still was not happy with the result, and I asked her for more volume and hair spray. I made a hair appointment at Blo Blow Dry Bar at Merrick Park, Coral Gables. Request: a stylist to help me attach a "phony pony" to my short hair, and I assured the receptionist that it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes all in. While I can attach my ponytail extension myself, I thought I would treat myself and get someone to assist me. Ex: I can zip up my own dress, but sometimes it's nice to get the assist....amiright?! :) I had been to this location once before, where a stylist gave me Dutch Braids - super cute - took about 50 minutes and I was charged $25. I assumed a quick pony job would be about the same price (my mistake, I should have asked first). I showed up to my appointment on time at 2:30pm and was whisked away to a chair immediately. The stylist and I spent a couple of minutes together looking at pictures, and I showed her how to attach my "phony pony". By 2:44pm, we were at the register and she rang me up. $85!!!!!!!!!!! Um, excuse me? $85?! I thought I had misunderstood her. At this time, another customer came to the register to pay for her service. She had been seated in the chair next to me getting her hair curled. I asked her about her service. She has long hair, had been there for one hour, had extensions put in, and had her whole head of hair curled. Her hair looked beautiful and glam - and she was charged $64. Me: quick 10 minute ponytail job = $85 (not including tip btw) Her: one hour full on glam job = $64 (totally worth it in her case) I expressed my SHOCK to the stylist and she called the franchise owner, Paula Rodriguez. The stylist explained over the phone to Paula (in Spanish) that she spent 30 minutes on my hair. Guess what? I speak Spanish too. I made her correct her false statement to tell Paula that it was under 15 minutes total. That alone was annoying and it made me feel like I couldn't trust their business dealings. After much back and forth, Paula told her to reduce the price to $64, matching that of the client who had been sitting next to me and had a full on glam job. In summary, I am FULLY DISSATSIFIED with the price I paid for the job that was done. The owner's refusal to understand the simple job was unfortunate - that I was only there to pay for a "convenience" - and I THOUGHT this was understood when I booked the appointment. It was highway robbery, even at $64 (which after tip was $76.80). I will not return to Paula's location and would encourage anyone making an appointment, to consult about price UPFRONT. POOR customer service. *P.S. - I love to leave positive reviews for businesses I frequent, and honestly can't recall if I have ever left a negative review before. I had an afternoon wedding and needed to get prettified. I had scheduled an appt. at MAC @ Nordstrom for my make-up and wanted something nearby since time was of the essence. I brought in a picture of the updo that I wanted. It seemed easy enough to me. But then again, I'm no hairdresser. I arrived at 12:30 for my 1PM appointment and they were able to seat me right away. Hurray! I still had to run to get dressed when I was done and be at the church by 3PM. The girl doing my hair was really nice and you can tell that she was really trying. She undid it several times and after a couple of tries, I felt bad, so I settled. Plus, I was running short on time. I left the salon at 2PM. It wasn't bad at all, it just wasn't what I really wanted. I wanted it to look looser, which probably requires much more teasing I'm assuming. Since it was so tight, you could see a really prominent part as well. I didn't like that. Plus, by the time that I got to the parking garage, the bun part was coming apart. I had to fix it after I got dressed. But again, I'm no hairdresser. So, I didn't do too good of a job and it fell out again within minutes. I will likely return for regular blow dry service. Blo Bar is my go to place for wedding guest glam. At this point, I'm a professional wedding guest (over 15 in the last two years). For all the fancy occasions that go with celebrating love, one must have impeccable hair. Blo Bar is just the place. For $40 they will glam you up, and in my opinion that is priceless. The salon is clean, and they have a nice little waiting area (which you will use because at times they run behind). It is always booked, so I recommend making an appointment at least a week in advance. You'll start with a divine wash and mini head massage before you're transported to your glamazon chair. From there, they have plenty of options for hair styles. I usually do a simple up-do or beachy waves. I have left this spot happy and feelin' myself 99% of the time. The one time I had a poor experience, the manager swiftly made it up to me. Gotta give kudos to great customer service! The Blo Bar also provides nail services as well as makeup which really makes this a one stop shop for beautification. Parking is plentiful - both garage and street parking are available here. Been coming here for a bit, but have decided to stop going. Every time I've gone, the lady, who I assume is the manager, has just gotten more and more aggressive in her attempts to get me to sign up for the membership. I've literally had to fake phone calls just to get her to leave me alone. I want to have a relaxing experience at the salon, not feel like I'm being hounded and forced to buy something I don't want or to make appointments I don't want. My appointment was for 4:45 so I got there about 10 minutes earlier. My hair dresser was busy trying to curl a sleeping childs hair wich I get, it takes a while. However, I made a make up appointment at 5:30 at nordstrom thinking i can give the girl an extra 10 minutes if she was running late and still make it to my make up appointment. I wasnt seated until 5 and the girl didnt start my hair till 5:15. I lost the appointment with the girl i really wanted at Nordstrom. I asked for the red carpet look. Full of volume and bounce. I told the hair dresser to use the iron because we were running extremely short on time. She said it would be more curls than what the look had and I was fine with that as long as I didnt look like was going to prom. Basically I got straight hair with curly ends. I told her I didnt like the tigh curls on the ends. She tried to blow it out but it didnt come out like I wanted. I was so stressed and mad at that point I just wanted to leave. I didnt want to be there and didnt want anyone to try to fix it. I had no confidence that any stylist there could be able to fix the prom hair. The stylist was nice and she was offering having the receptionist call the Nordstrom make up counter to get me another appointment but I just wanted to get the hell out of that place. At that point I started crying, didnt do my make up, and ended up not going to the event.
