I booked my daughter in there today for her birthda. not only did she have to wait while the y chit chatted for 10 minutes at reception. she then was soaked all over her face and the most rushed shampoo, most salons wash twice she said to my daughter is that good, my daughter said its usually twice she did a very poor rushed second wash also soaking her face. my daughter asked for a round brush blowout she left it wet and frizzy and said you're done, my daughter said ah no it's supposed to be dry and smooth, she decided to flat iron curl it which was NOT what she wanted. took 10 minutes to figure out the hair dryer instead of getting another. and the audacity to charge $55! we will NEVER go back here and will definitely tell everyone we know not too either! wish I could give - stars read more

This place is the worst salon ever. Dark , dingy and people who are not qualified to style your hair whatsoever. Save your money and do it yourself. It will come out better. Although to be fair I walked out with my wet hair because the stylist was so bad so I wouldn't know how the finished product looks like. What a waste of my time !!! read more

Oh nooooooo! I came to Blo on a Friday afternoon, with plans to get a blow out for a Holiday Party that evening. I'm new to Oakville, and didn't want to risk a salon I didn't know, and since Blo is a franchise and the price was right, I figured it was worth a try. Do I ever wish I had just tried another salon! My experience was bad from start to finish. When I arrived, there was some confusion about who I was there to see, but it was sorted pretty quickly. I ended up with a stylist who seemed a little nervous, but thinking she could be new I decided to let it go. I'm pretty easy going when it comes to how my hair is done, and I basically just said I wanted it up. I was anticipating a wash a blow dry, but she said it would be easier to style my hair dry. Fine. Then styling it curly was easier (I have pretty curly hair) which was also fine. Then she ATTACKED ME with a HAIR BRUSH and hairspray, and brushed out all my curls, and was surprised when my hair was no longer curly. WHAT??? Throughout the entire styling, my hair was yanked (it hurt!) and brutally brushed (my poor hair!) and almost every pin that went in I had to reassure her that my hair looked fine. The other stylists in the room throughout my experience were quite unprofessional - joking about having a drink (one seemed serious and had a bottle out, the other shut him down) even while they had clients in their chairs. In the end, my hair did look fine (though it looked like I did it myself) but I'm still dealing with the repercussions of the brutal brushing. My poor curls. Two stars because the price was cheap, at least I didn't waste my money, and the resulting updo was fine. Will I be back? Never. read more

Follow up to my photo I just posted; Saturday April 11th, 2015. not only was the stylist unprofessional, I left more than dissatisfied. I left mortified that even after expressing my dislike, I was handed the debit machine and give a simple shrug of the shoulder. Let's not forget after I told her I was there getting my hair done for my birthday, she shared that she was "sooo hung over from celebrating her 19th birthday the night before" regardless of her night before I was a paying client and will not return to this unprofessional establishment!! read more

Really disappointed - was not right from the beginning! It was relatively easy job to do - curls and lift the back a bit - instead of 5-8pins - I had 30+ pins and still did not get the job done :( was uneven and looked brutal from the back :( I'm a loyal Blo customer and been with them for 8+ years but today was so important for me to look my 100% best and here I am :( writing this review and fixing my hair to the best of my ability :( read more

Poor experience for the price. The best part of the salon is its website. I had a wedding to go to, so me and my sister went to get blow outs, we both asked for the red carpet and it was the most limp blow out I have ever received, I could have done a better job on myself. To start the girl doing my hair seemed very nervous and unsure, she was constantly asking me if whatever she was doing was ok, normal things like brushing, hair spray, heat tools etc, which i found odd, the girl didn't speak to me, which I didn't mind because it was early in the morning but still off putting. ( Also, I am just speculating but from what I was hearing some of the staff aren't trained hair dressers because the girl mentioned going to school for business and didn't mention hair school at all) The most off-putting part of the service and why I wouldn't go back is, the girl didn't seem to have her own brushes and grabbed another girls bin and they clearly weren't clean because she pulled another customers hair out of it and proceeded to do my hair, so unhygienic. When she finished with me she pulled my hair out of the brush and put it back which I assume wasn't cleaned again) This could all be forgotten if the hair turned out well, my hair was so limp, no curl at all on the bottom, no volume, nothing special at all. I wasn't asking for much but a little bounce would have been great, let alone my sisters hair which is naturally curly was missing spots, so there were random pieces of hair that were curly and others that were blown out. If this weren't a strictly styling salon I wouldn't have been so disappointed but when you pay $35 to get your hair blown dry you expect it to be done well. read more

Extremely disappointed.... I went to this location to get a blowout for a wedding that I was attending. I made an appointment for 10am. When I got there I wasn't taken in until almost 11:15am- very disorganized with their appointments. I told the stylist what I wanted and she began. Throughout, she kept referring to my hair as "very dry" which I have never had a hair stylist complain about my hair in the past... The process took about 45 minutes. When she was done my hair looked awful!! It was extremely fuzzy and flat. It looked as though she took a paddle brush and just brushed my hair repetitively, when I asked for lots of volume. When I got home, I had to redo my hair myself - as it would have been an embarrassment to attend a formal event looking the way I did. I have been to many salons, but this had to have been the worst experience. read more

Overall the service was mediocre. I came for a blowout for a wedding. The hairdresser burned my ear with the curling iron. When she was done my hair was a bit frizzy at the ends so I had to ask her to fix it. The hair style didn't last very long as she didn't use enough product to ensure a long hold. I made an appointment for 1pm, I arrived on time and a person arrived right after me and the personnel decided to pass me over and go for that person behind me. Waited almost 20 minutes and when I asked when it was going to be my turn as I had an appointment at 1pm, the person at the desk said "I'm not sure ". Terrible service! read more

Worst blow out I have ever had...barely lasted the night and I paid over $40 for it. I am very disappointed in the money that I spent for the quality I received. Nice girl but not experienced, I could have done a more professional job myself. There are many great places for a blow dry that far surpasses this one....go there instead! read more

It's not always easy for me to trust people with my hair, but I always feel like I'm heard and everyone is so sweet! I have been going to BLO Blow dry bar for at least 3 years now....the service has always been friendly and professional. I am offered water, coffee, tea and magazines to read while I get my hair blown dry. I have been "blown dry" by several different hairdressers over the years and have been very satisfied. I have also used this franchise out in Vancouver and liked the concept before it arrived in Oakville. So I was very pleased when BLO came to Oakville! Don't hesitate to drop by for a "walk in"...but better to call ahead and make an appointment, especially in busy times of the year. As the logo says...they will "blo you away"! Enjoy! read more

I've been to this location twice now, the first time with Ally and the second time with Kate. My first experience was a good one so I decided to go back just to get a blow out for no particular occasion. Kate seems completely miserable working there, did not speak and was not open to hearing how I wanted my hair styled. In fact, I told her something very specific about the layers around my face, and she just did her own thing. The place was a ghost town and both she and the owner (Jenn ?) who were there did not make me feel very welcome. I couldn't wait to get out of there and feel completely "meh" about how my hair was styled. The people doing these blowouts aren't professionals at all! They're people with little to no training and let's just say they aren't very good at what they do. I had a blow out that didn't even last until the afternoon - and i wanted the curl to hold well into the evening! Not only did I waste $45 but I didn't have time to redo my hair so I had to sport my flat, limp hair all night. I can do my own hair much better than these "professionals" can, and make a styled curl stay for days in my naturally curly hair. The girl doing my hair didn't exactly finish the job because they booked the appointments too close together, so maybe that's why it sucked so much! two thumbs down, Blo! read more

Walked in with clean hair and asked if someone could do a French Braid. Was told there is no discount in price for "just a braid" and I would be paying for wash/blow dry/braid. I said fine (even though I find this shocking). Employee asks me where I'd like my braid started (should have know right then she had no clue what a french braid is). I tell her and she begins what looks to me like a dutch braid (because it was). I tell her "um it seems to me what you are doing is a Dutch braid" to which she confidently replies "nope, it's a french braid". I can't see it - but when it was done I could see a big piece of hair sticking out of the end (the top and front looked awful). I asked to see the back in the mirror - at which time it was obviously a dutch brain, so again I said.."you know this is a dutch braid...you were bringing the pieces under instead of over towards the middle"....she replies "well I was taught in hair school that this is how to do a french braid". At least TWO other staff heard this exchange and saw that my hair was braided dutch and they said nothing...UNTIL another customer who was waiting said "so, you actually wanted a french braid right, not dutch which is what you got?". Then as I'm standing at the cash desk the woman who checked me in said "if you want I can pull it out and do the braid in the "other direction" ".....so obviously STILL unwilling to acknowledge that what I asked for (and paid full price for!) and what I got were 2 entirely different styles. At this point I had had enough so I declined to continue to be treated like an idiot. Bottom line: NEVER AGAIN. To ask for a specific hair style no less than 3 times and get a completely different/wrong style and not have the mistake even acknowledged and to then be expected to pay for it....horrendous training of staff both from skills perspective and customer service. read more

Do not go to this place if you want a full looking blow out! I asked for a glam voluminous blowout. The underage girls they have working here all have long flat hair, and I came out of this place with even flatter hair than when I came in! Never again, sorry! read more
