Kelly cut my hair today. I feel like this is a classic case of getting the haircut the stylist wants to give you (we've all had that experience!) vs the hair style you asked for. I was in the chair for a mere 20 minutes & sent on my way with what amounts to a 'boys' mushroom cut' vs the style I asked for. I did try to bring up a picture on my phone, but was told 'it's ok I know what you're looking '. ....... & I should have been charged the men's haircut price for this mess! I have been a regular in Vescada Salon for nearly a decade, but stopped going there for over a year now... I had a feeling that they got somewhat relaxed with their service and the way they treat their customers. Last time I was there I got a wash/haircut/blow dry - I could hardly notice if anything had been done to my hair! The next morning the haircut was a disaster, and I felt like I threw my money away. In addition, there is some sort of inconsistency with the pricing: the same service fluctuates b/w $75 and $85 They now have new receptionists who alternate, and one of them (can't remember her name) does not do a good job when it comes to booking, payment processing, etc... I find her rather abrasive and irritated all the time. read more

I would not recommend this studio. I have never had a worse experience with my hair. What was supposed to be a root touch-up, ended up being an all-over bleach job gone horribly wrong where half of my hair fell out and it was yellow. It's been over 6 months and my hair is still not back to an acceptable state. The 'colour technician' felt horrible about what she did, and gave me a bunch of sample bottles of their "damage therapy" product, however it did not help my case whatsoever, and could not make up for all the hair that broke and fell out. I was hopeful about possibly having a salon nearby that I could count on and be 'my salon', however this most definitely was not it. My experience here has made me afraid to get my hair done at any salon now. read more

I find it rare that I have a salon experience that I truly feel was incredible, but Vescada gave me that. I made an appointment 3 months ago with Roxanna to help bring my awful white bleach blonde hair back to a more natural blonde tone. Instead of berating me and discussing how terrible my hair was, Roxanna simply asked what I wanted to be done and got to work. She gave me low-lights and high-lights and within a few hours, I was starting to look like a real person again! She gave me a complimentary cut and blow-dry as I was a first time client. I figured the cut wouldn't be too special, as I just wanted a trim, but Roxanna really helped shape my lifeless hair into a much more fashionable look. I recently returned to Roxanna for another round of highlights in which she brightened me up in precisely the way I was looking for. She didn't push any products on me or suggest another trim. Instead, we chatted like old friends and the whole experience was like a day with a friend versus a pushy salesperson. I can't express how incredibly comfortable and awesome Vescada is. All the stylists seem very down to earth and friendly and everyone walks out of there looking like a million bucks. And to top it all off since I had recommended my sister to go there, they gave me FULL SIZE bottles of the shapure shampoo and conditioner by Aveda. WHAT! That's awesome. I am definitely planning on going back to Vescada for all my highlighting and cuts. They've got me hooked! read more

I had passed Vescada many times and eyed their Aveda products through the window. I had to make a last-minute appointment to get my hair did and when my regular stylist was no available, I decided to try Vescada on a whim who were able to fit me in. I came in bright and early on Saturday morning toa busy, bustling salon. My appointment was with Roxane. She was very friendly and made a few recommendations for my cut. I'm very low maintenance when it comes to hair so I'm not too fussy as long as it's out of my face and eyes! They use all Aveda products in their salon so that's a big bonus. I absolutely adore Aveda so I enjoyed every moment of my wash and shampoo. The cut was fine and I liked that they didn't push any products on me (although I buy Aveda stuff on a regular basis and was already stocked up anyway). Overall, I enjoyed my first time at this salon and would consider coming back since I'm not married to my current stylist. read more

My favourite hair salon in the city! Friendly and unpretentious staff who do their best to please. All of the stylists are excellent and honest - they want what is best for the customer. Reasonable pricing. You can also get your makeup done. Closed on Sundays and Mondays. Limited street parking directly in front of the salon. read more

I am sorry but I do not know the average price at salons for hair cuts, but when I rated the prices at Vescada, I was using my own instincts. I do not feel that paying $80 to have nice hair for 6-12 months is too much. About 2 years ago, I decided I wanted to try a short hair cut (above the shoulders for the first time in more than 20 years. I had actual pictures from the internet for how I wanted to look along with a picture of how my bangs should look. Claudio (one of the owners) was able to duplicate the EXACT look. He did not try to tell me which products I would "need" to get the same look. His customer service was to say the least, demonstrative of his experience (from conversations, and not knowing his exact age, it seems that he's been working at this since he was very young). When I went back for another hair cut, I asked him about a hair curling wand (think curling iron without the clamp) and he was kind enough to suggest places and even offered to call someone he knew. On my next visit, he advised he was unsuccessful, which I did not doubt since I couldn't find a place in Toronto selling online either. My daughter liked my hair cuts so she wanted to try the place. He reduced the pricing to 30-35. This was a surprise as I was not aware that a 12-year old could get a reduced price. Upon my next visit with my daughter, the price was 35-40. I didn't mind the inconsistent pricing because he was very careful with my girl. She's not very forthcoming so he had to probe a lot to get a better idea about what she would want/like. It would seem that it's easier to just cut her hair, ask once and pretend he didn't notice she didn't have an opinion. My girl friend just got a hair cut there last week./ She went from having hair down to her behind to a shorter than the shoulder cut. She's a hair stylist too. Let's just say she's loving her cut and a returning customer. If you need an updo, I would recommend Kelly. Unfortunately, she's really keen on selling hair extensions, but it's not like she's very aggressive about it. I find that the final product is worth the sales pitch and I mean, it's better that she's selling an alternative service than pushing products down my throat. She did an interesting job working well with the highlights in my hair to add depth. I've had many many bad hair experiences and I highly recommend Vescada if you've never had one to prevent the pain, and if you've had bad experiences, Claudio can heal them. One thing though, he seems to be able 15 minutes late each time so bring entertainment. read more

If I could I, wld have given them 0 star! Kelly who's supposed to be a senior stylist who charges 45$ for a blow dry is horrible. I wonder if she even know how to blow dry. I ended up looking so funny after my blow-dry that I wanted to cry but I was so embarrassed to say any word ! The salon itself is dirty and the other staff are less than average when it comes to hair cut or blow-dry as well. Be aware and save your money and go somewhere else please. read more

I knew I needed a haircut, but when I saw a $75 wash/cut/dye/style at Vescada, I jumped on that. I can kind of skimp when it comes to my hair, and in the past I've regretted it. However this was honestly the best cut and dye I have ever had at a salon, for the best price I have ever seen. I have had the misfortune where my hair, despite deep conditioning and brushing, gets very matted and I've had to actually cut knots out at the back of my head. My stylist saw this and evened out the back so it looked more like natural layers and not my "I've been brushing my hair for twenty minutes I GIVE UP on this knot and cut it out!!!" look I had been sporting. The color was also fantastic, I didn't do anything too crazy, just dyed my hair a dark brown a bit darker than my natural color, as prior to this I had gone a light brown that turned out incredibly red (it was awful, I never want to dye my own hair again), and the new dye job looked amazing and complimented my skin tone amazing. The colorist actually listened to me when I said more ash tones and no reds--most stylists always tell me to make it more red and then my face looks like a tomato. I look forward to coming back here, because the decor and atmosphere is also very nice! read more

This was my first time going to Vescada and I thought it would be really nice, because of all the lovely ratings. However I am so upset with my hair now!! I wanted to get it cut for the summer and my stylist did a horrible job by cutting it way too short and giving it a frizzy/choppy look as my "layers". I was actually crying this morning when I was trying to style it as best as I could, but now I've had to give up and accept that it will be in a ponytail for a month and half. I only went to them because my old stylist left my old salon and I thought it would be too much of a hassle to go to her new location, but I'm SO sorry I thought that! Also, when I asked for the complimentary essential oil or hand massage they offer on their website, the girls just gave me a fake smile and said, "sure." but never did. For a $80 wash and cut, the least they could do was that, specially since I was their first customer that morning and they weren't busy at all. I will NOT be going back to them, even though they use my favourite products (Aveda). And will be wait till my hair grows long enough so i can go back to my old stylist and have her properly cut and style my hair. Very disappointed and upset, my hair is my most important asset and now it looks horrible. read more

I really loved my stylist, Guida, who was kind and very skilled. This was my first time at this salon and I found it to be extremely unprofessional. The receptionist was unhelpful and made zero recommendations when I initially phoned. The atmosphere was a little too relaxed as I overheard one stylist making racist remarks. It seemed as though you had to have been a long-time customer to receive good service. I don't plan on returning and was disappointed in their first impression. read more

I have only been here twice but both times have been great. The first was a walk in off the street and the second was a booked appointment. Kelly has done my hair both times and has given me two great looks. She is also very speedy and efficient. Prices are very reasonable. read more

After having my baby I delayed having my highlights done for obvious reasons and my hair was in need of colouring so to save time I decided to get a colour box at the drugstore- ended up being too dark and my regular hairstylist from Civello was on vacation so I thought I could find a hairdresser closer to my home and by finding a Aveda salon would make me feel safer. WRONG idea! I had Amy and explained to her my problem that my hair was too dark and had red tinge that I absolutely disliked and a bit of green on the ends of my hair from the pool. 4 hours later (yes you read that right) after having highlights done, 2 toners she decided to put a colour on top of all that ended being dark burgundy circa 1998. Really sad and unhappy my hair looks so bad and I spent 200$ for something worse than before! I sent an email to their manager and she gave me a follow up appointment with a re-do at no cost. I went there today just to be told "I can cut your hair but there's nothing I can do you need to wait it out after all the colouring that had been done I cannot do anything today". I have never been this unhappy with my hair and treated badly. It's not easy getting to place with my 8month old. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT recommend this salon! I'm going back to Civello so that they can fix this burgundy nightmare. Also at this salon there's a sign next to the cashier that says if you leave them a positive review on Goggle they will give you 10% off your next consultation. Doesn't seem fair. read more

I found Vescada a few years ago after having my hair burnt at another salon. Dana (one of their colour specialists)helped me get my hair back in shape. She knows her stuff. Lily cuts my hair. I have fine straight hair and she does a precision cut that is fabulous. It looks full and bouncy and I get lots of compliments. I realize a hair salon is as good as its staff and I recommend both these ladies. read more

I have been a client of Vescada Salon for 15 years now and while a couple of times I may have not had the cut I wanted i have always been very happy with my cuts and with the service. If I ever was unhappy it would be fixed right away. They have also been cutting our daughter's hair for 15 years as well since she was knee high to a grasshopper and they have given us a considerable discount and very reasonable rate for a young person's cut. Even for an adult the rate is very reasonable for the quality of the cut. No loose ends, the cut and line you are looking for. And very pleasant. So thankful they are in our neighbourhood. I only have been for wash, cut and blow dry so I cannot comment on colour - although at my age I am starting to consider a colour and they are open to lots of discussions in advance and I would be confident to have a colour done by my stylist. Certainly if at any time I said that I was not happy with a cut or a blow dry - they would speak with me, listen to me and make it better. I love having a place in our neighbourhood that gives me confidence for our family hair cuts and styling. read more

Don't bother going to get your hair done here, especially if it is for your wedding! I was recently at the salon getting my hair and 4 bridesmaids hair done for my wedding and had an absolutely horrible experience- I ended up in tears. I did not go for a trial before hand, so it is partially my fault, however I thought that every hair stylist knew how to do a simple bun- apparently not. The day went as follows: One of my bridesmaids had to have her hair redone 3 times by the stylist because it was not turning out the way she wanted it to be done- and the stylist got upset with her. Once my bridesmaid was done with her hair, it was my turn. I showed the hairstylist several pictures of buns- all the same style, a simple sock bun. I didn't want anything fancy, just a classic bun. The hairstylist then began to work on my hair. She ended up making it into a bow. Now, I might not be the smartest person on the planet, but I'm fairly certain that BOW and BUN are NOT the same, yes they both have 3 letters and start with B but beyond that they are VERY different. Once I asked her to change it she got upset with me and made sure to tell me that this is what I get for not going for a trial. It was my wedding day so I was already stressed out- I began to cry. After calming down a bit, my maid of honour tried to show the pictures to the hair stylist again who then proceeded to tell me that my hair was too long and wouldn't hold a bun. At this point I was livid and told her to just stick the hair in a bun, no matter if it looked like the pictures. My maid of honour continued to try to convince the hairstylist that I wanted a bun that looked like one of the ones in the picture. The hairstylist looked at my maid of honour and said "You better stop, you're making your friend even more upset!". I was like, um no, you are... Anyways, to make a very long story short. I didn't get the hair I wanted and didn't bother asking for her to redo it. I figured if she can't do a sock bun, then I'll do it at home by myself. I should have told her to stop and that I would have done it at home, or gone to another salon where hair stylists are FULLY capable of doing buns- but I didn't. Needless to say, that was the worst hairstyling experience of my life. Every bride I know (which is a fair number given that I was the first of my friends to get married) is being told to avoid Vescada. They have no customer service skills and can't even do a simple bun. If you want to get your hair done properly, find a different salon. read more
