Disappointing Silk Press Experience - Blo Pearland I visited Blo Pearland today, 8/22/2026, for a silk press. I've been getting silk presses for years, and even with longer/thicker hair, the service has never taken more than about two hours--and that's really pushing it. First, I want to say that the salon itself is beautiful. The decor and ambiance were nice, and everyone I interacted with was friendly. When I booked, I didn't see an option to select a specific stylist. When I arrived, I was greeted by a very friendly young lady, and before we started, I specifically asked if she was knowledgeable and comfortable working with natural Black hair. She assured me that she was. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect that. I have naturally curly hair and am very familiar with what my hair requires for a silk press. The process took an extremely long time, even with another person eventually helping in the salon. In my experience, the lack of familiarity with my hair texture seemed to contribute significantly to how long the service took. Normally, my hair is blow-dried using a comb attachment, which gets the hair stretched and smooth before the flat iron. Instead, a round brush was used, and that portion of the process took a very long time. I will say that I have had my hair professionally dried with a round brush before and achieved beautiful bounce and movement without needing a flat iron, so I understand that a round brush can absolutely work--it just didn't seem to be effective or efficient for my hair during this service. After all of that time, the flat iron process finally began. Unfortunately, less than two hours after leaving the salon, my hair was already becoming frizzy. A silk press should last significantly longer than that, especially considering the price. I paid $100 for a silk press, with no trim, no steaming, and no deep conditioning under a dryer. At that price, I expected a smooth, long-lasting result. Instead, I spent a significant amount of time and money on a service that didn't even last the day. I want to emphasize that the stylist was very nice and everyone at the salon was friendly. My issue is not with anyone's attitude--it's the quality and efficiency of the service and, most importantly, the lack of lasting results on my natural hair. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not return for a silk press. I hope the salon considers ensuring that stylists performing silk presses are thoroughly trained and experienced with a variety of natural hair textures. I've been to a couple of the blow dry bars in Houston and the Pearland location was my favorite. Inside was really nice and clean and the staff is really friendly and welcoming. I did have to wait 20 minutes after my appointment time, so at first, I wasn't super happy because I had a event I had to get to so I thought they wouldn't be done in time, But they actually were able to do everything I needed them to do within the timeframe of my appointment window. My hairstylist listened to what I wanted done, and she did a great job. read more

The girl that did my hair was very nice, but I forget that blow dry bars are trained to do just a few styles and not to really give a great smooth blowout. My mistake, I won't make that again! The first picture was when I left, smooth, pretty sleek, I liked it. The second picture is the next day. I know Texas is humid, but it's not that humid and it hasn't been humid for a while. At least not humid enough to make my hair poof out like that. I always go in and say listen my hair is this texture, it behaves this way. And, as always, they disregard what I'm saying and do whatever they want. This is what happened. I paid $55 plus a tip for my hair to look like this the next day. I am so disappointed. I can blow dry my own hair and get it to do what the second picture does. I won't go here again, unfortunately. It's really close to my house too. That sucks. read more

You know sometimes you have an off-the-wall idea and you have no way of knowing if it will pan out the way you hope? That was how I felt about taking a trip to Blo Blow Dry Bar. All I knew when I woke up that morning was that I wasn't going to be the one to wash my hair. I had taken my braids down and detangled my hair the night before and I woke up pre-exhausted just thinking about holding my arms over my head for another hour. I told my bestie that I wished for a place to just walk in and get my hair washed no matter the cost as long as I could be in and out in an hour. That was an impossible ask of the salons I'd last frequented and I dreaded that inevitably. Thankfully, my fren suggested Blo and I was able to make an appointment for a couple hours later. The all white aesthetic was broken up with pops of pink. My stylist was Elise and she took good care of me during my appointment. Shanay was with a client in the next chair was also helpful. Color me surprised when I was in and out in under 1.5hrs! My hair came out silky smooth and three days later the style is still holding. The only con for me was the constant attempts at upselling. I'm incredibly low maintenance with my hair and don't see that changing to support a monthly subscription with Blo but I'll definitely be back again this year. read more

I called for a walk in. Was easily able to fit in the chair. The young lady KaTy was great. She was gentle she knew how to detangle my hair (I am African American). They used designer essentials for my shampoo, I had my own conditioner and treatment and she gave an amazing head massage. My blow dry was fabulous and I felt truly relaxed. I did not ask her to style as I was going to get braids but it was an AMAZING experience and I would be back again. read more

My sweet sister is a member at this place, I was in town visiting and she made me an appointment, I am glad she did, I have never been to a blow bar and I had the wrong impression of what it was, lol! I believe the individual who did my hair was Fernando, they have a book of looks and you choose what you want to look like, they then wash your hair and take you to their station to blow dry and style your hair! I go to a pretty high end salon in Florida and get charged an arm and a leg and I can tell you Fernando did an amazing job (better than what I get in Florida) made me feel like a superstar and surpassed expectations. I'm a little disappointed with my blow dry from yesterday. I saw great reviews and had a friend recommend i come here. However, they had done a treatment on my hair that would help with my dry scalp that I liked but it didn't do much for me. My scalp the next felt weird and didn't feel like it was washed. I'm not sure what happened there. My stylist was so nice and gave great recommendations which I loved. However for spending $75 my hair should not be frizzy and it doesn't even look like i got a blowout done. I've spent less at DryBar and the blowouts last a whole week with no issues. I was excited to see a blowout place close to me but i will not be returning. read more
