I'm so sad there isn't a Blo Dry Bar in my area. I had an appointment to get my hair done for my cousin's engagement and was super excited to check this place out. I really had to dig through social media to see the types of hair styles that BLO could create; there weren't enough examples to look through at the time. I wanted to play it safe and ended up getting soft curls in my hair. The lady who worked on my hair was super sweet and and was considerate about my concerns of my straight hair falling flat. The end result was beautiful. The only con that I had was that my hair didn't have the soft beach hair wave to it like I had hoped. It was doused with a LOT of hairspray. It's just hit and miss with BLO. I went in for a blowout the other day and my hair is straight shoulder length. I said I just want lots of body with a round brush. i showed a picture. It' probably the least complicated hairdo. It was flat and heavy. 50 bucks. You don't know who you're going to get. read more

For us men, it's quite easy to miss by this place despite its gorgeous pink/chic boutique! Unless for the metro lol. Really enjoyed my time, it's as exactly what their name says (great Google SEO btw), on those lazy or bad hair days, these specialized hair stylists know what they're doing. Booked blo dry bar for my Indian wedding event I was attending in Surrey. I'm from the states, had plenty of blow outs and usually go to dry bar but blo was more convenient as they have a combo for updo and full face makeup/lash. I'm from out of town and booked it weeks in advance. I arrived on time and unfortunately was kept waiting about 20 min past my scheduled appt. I would say if you have an event to go to make sure to always book earlier in the day so you'll have plenty of time. Deborah or was it Debbie was very nice and washed, dried and curled my hair. Deborah went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and made sure she didn't hurt me when brushing my hair and also did a great wash. I wanted a up do so a I guess a different girl is suppose to do the style. Jessica I believe was her name. I showed a few pics of what I would like. I was not pleased with the outcome. Honestly had to keep trying to get them to change something because it wasn't looking right. I felt like more of the stylist and all I really wanted was just a relaxing day and instead I got the opposite. Also the stylist was not very friendly and kept walking away and the other girl kept having call her back to the station. She also got an attitude when I asked her to fix something. Anyways I felt my hair was just okay, I made some adjustments when I got home. Shouldn't be that way. Should leave party ready. The full face makeup was awesome, she had so many color combos to choose from. The girl did awesome and I'm sorry I wish I remembered her name it may have been manpreet. But anyways it was perfect and she colored matched My skin perfectly and gave me a lip Sample for touch up later that night. All night I was getting compliments on my makeup wish I could say the same for the hair! Overall, most importantly blo delivered and I arrived to my event on time. Hopefully the stylists can improve maybe next time I will request someone else. Also one thing more to suggest would be to offer customers some Beverages would be nice. Thanks! read more

I'm on the fence. Second time I have gone in. Last year they messed my hair up royally 2 hours before our event. After an appropriate review, (the only review I've ever given apart from this one) the owner offered another visit to prove they could do better. So. I give my new stylist, Robyn, 5 stars. She was amazing. She did exactly what I hoped for with zero of the volumizing powder that destroyed my hair last year. (Terrible amount of breakage trying to get that and the teasing out-different stylist). Robyn pulled off an amazing style, and it lasted until 5am wonderfully. The curls lasted the next two days after. She had everything warmed up and ready to go and was very pleasant. However, as I was the only appointment at that time, this poor girl was running back and forth trying to style my hair and answer the phones, book appointments, etc. She kept apologizing, and I assured her I didn't mind that much, as I made sure to leave extra time this visit. But I could tell she was frustrated having to constantly redo the last curls because she had to rush off for the phones. She didn't complain, but I'll complain for her. Someone else is needed at the desk to answer phones. They ring non-stop. She did get my hair done in an hour. But I could have been out in half the time, I'm sure, if she got to do her thing in one go. Apart from that, I was pleased she trusted me about the last visit and this visit being no-charge, as there didn't seem to be any mention of it in their system, after the owner called me about the last review and assured it would be put on file, and the offer wouldn't expire. I gave Robyn a decent tip regardless of it being a free visit, she deserved it. And they still have those awful hard plastic chairs while the company website shows nice soft white chairs. Not fun to sit in for a long time. I give the establishment 3 stars. Robyn gets 5 stars. So if you go, ask for Robyn. read more

This place is usually pretty good. Clean office and friendly staff. More so then not my hair comes out looking fabulous, but the odd time it's not my favourite. The one bad thing I have to say is I have made an appointment prior to opening hours for my wedding trial (they will schedule you before opening by appointment only) and confirmed that appointment a few days before and I show up and the doors are locked and no staff are on. So I sat in my car waiting for an hour only to find out they are booked full at 10am opening and I can't get anything done. Very disappointed in this. With this place make sure you call to confirm the day prior so they don't forget about you too!!!! read more

My recent past experience at the South Surrey Blo was an absolute disaster. I had an event to attend and brought in pictures of the style I wanted. The girl I got was completely incapable of doing anything even close to what I wanted, which btw, was NOT a complicated style. After reducing me to tears I told her to just do ANYTHING because I had to go to the event and had no other plan for getting my hair done otherwise I would have just walked out. She still couldn't manage any kind of proper up-do and ended up having to get another woman to come and do my hair, and the second woman still didn't do anything close to the pictures I brought in. At this point I didn't even care, I just needed something, anything done. I think if you just want a simple blow dry and a couple curls they can probably handle that, but if you want anything even remotely more than totally basic you will be better off going to a legit salon. Their prices aren't cheap either. $65 for an up-do that wasn't anything close to what I asked for and didn't like. Next time I'll be more organized and go to a qualified hairdresser at a proper salon. Also, as an aside, while I was there two women walked in for their scheduled appointments and were turned away because of a "scheduling error". read more

Spent $42 on a blow out service and it was a waste of my money. I asked the stylist to curl my hair in soft waves. She used a straightener to curl my hair. Which does not give you big soft waves. I figured okay well she might be new at this so I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. I paid and left. When I got home (which is only a 20 minute drive away) my hair was literally pin straight. So then I had to curl my hair myself and restyle it. It was the biggest waste of time and the biggest waste of money. I would never go back. read more

I first tried Blo Blow Dry Bar in July 2016 at this franchise in South Surrey. I emailed ahead of time that I wanted a basic blow braid (one of the 7 basic blo options). The owner advised me that this wouldn't be a problem. When I arrived, the stylist seemed really confused even thought I had brought pictures of the hairsytle (My regular stylist had done the very same front braid in May 2016). My goal was a soft, loose beachy, braid woven over the shorter hair I have on the right side of my head- what I ended up with was an tight, frizzy (not smooth) braid pinned very tightly to my head in what ended up looking like a ballet bun. The staff and stylists were pleasant enough but it would have been nice to have been offered something to drink - water, tea, coffee - nothing fancy. I'm hesitant to try this franchise again which is unfortunate - I was really looking forward to treating myself to a bit of a hair splurge. read more

I had a TERRIBLE experience at Blo. The girl doing my hair was obviously clueless as to how you 1) wash hair 2) blow it out and 3) follow your pre-set 'hair menu.' I asked for the 'Holly Would" and ended up with flat hair with some flat iron curls in it. My hair wasn't even blow dryed all the way, or properly washed. I could've done a better job myself. She was absolutely useless, her coworker had to step in to help. That coworker was supposed to do a 'waterfall braid' on my friend but instead just did regular braids and wrapped it around her head. It wasn't a bad look but it wasn't what my friend asked for. Why offer waterfall braids if your employees aren't even capable of doing them? Will not be going back or recommending this to anyone i know. read more

I have to say I'm writing in as I was not That impressed with the service I experienced there this time I recently retired and my loving family Surprised me with a day of beauty and celebration I was brought there by my daughter to enjoy Having my hair shampooed and blow dried and styled. Nov 4th 2017 I've been to blo once before and really liked my hair and service in August 2017 From the beginning I had said to the salon girl "I wasn't expecting this and I'm excited " She shampooed my hair and then her and another girl both blew my hair on each side with a hair dryer No Brush. Just blowing the heck out of it ? I finally said could you use a brush or else my hair will be frizzy !? She did a horrible job. My stepdaughter ended up fixing it and directing her well there to make it look better. It was like they were in a rush ! I do not believe when u get your hair done especially for a special day you should leave disappointed. I was not going to write anything but feel they paid for something I could of done better at home. read more

This place is supposed to specialize in Blow dries. Not sure what training the staff has but they cannot execute a round brush blow out. I asked 3 times for more volume, it was clear the woman did not know what she was doing. My hair was all over the place. I had a better blow out by an apprentice at a salon and it was half the price. Blo is a great idea, but it's really hit and miss. A few months ago, I went to Blo to get my hair done for a concert. The stylist who did my hair was nice, and did a great job on my hair. She did the traditional blowout and put some curls and volume into it, I loved it! I went back yesterday to get my hair done again, this time for my engagement photos. I wanted to see if I could request the same stylist, but apparently you are not allowed to do that. This time, the girl I got washed my hair (without a towel around my neck, so water got everywhere) combed it out, and blow dried it with just her hands. She didn't use a round brush or even a regular hair brush. So by the time my hair was dry, it was a flat, disgusting, tangly mess. She then simply put a few curls into it with a flat iron, it was the most half-assed thing I've ever experienced. I bitterly paid the $35 dollars, and by the time I got home 5 minutes later, my hair was flat and straight. Thank goodness I had makeup next, and my makeup artist offered to re-curl my hair for me, and do it properly. I later found out that to work at Blo, you don't even have to go to hair dressing school. So before you book, just remember that you're really taking a gamble. read more

Honestly, This place is amazing! The girls in there are so friendly and helpful! I love the pink decor and the bright and airy feeling in the building, just adds to the fun of it all! I have never had anything to complain about after many experiences here. I heart Blo! read more

The girls are very friendly and the atmosphere is a really nice. But the service can definitely improve. i have been to many salons and all have been better. I was greeted by the stylist at the door with a great smile. i was escorted to the shampoo basin. No towel was placed around my shoulders to prevent any water from going down my back or to allow me to wipe off any water. not that i needed too. all salons that i have been to always place a towel on my shoulders! Then my hair was washed only once. Sorry but basic hairdressing requires two shampoos! A towel was wrapped around my wet hair and again no towel around my neck or shoulders. I was escorted to the station where my hair was going to get "blo'd" and the stylist removed the wet towel and used something that was like a paper towel to soak the water. sorry girls but you should invest in some more towels at the salon and use the Egyptian cotton to give customers that wonderful spa like experience! read more

I feel like I could have done this style myself, and probably better. :( I was excited to try Blo after driving by it so many times however I ended up disappointed. The staff were friendly, however, I had the same problem as another reviewer in terms of the wash. First off, they don't use regular towels, they use something like paper towel. The wash was pretty rough and it felt like my head was bouncing around in the sink. The water pressure was extremely high so water was splashing all over my face and neck, not to mention I got poked in the ears a few times while the girl was washing my hair. Next thing I know water comes shooting up over my face and lands all over my legs and arm. I was drenched. I got a sorry, and a few paper towels to dry off, but it basically took the next 4 hours for my jeans to dry out (while I was at work). Next we go over to the chair, and the blow drying starts, again it kind of feels like my head is being batted at. She dried out my hair then started curing it. It looked nice at first but when she loosened up the curls it kind of just looked like a nappy mess. I usually don't add the hair spray until the end because it just tangles up my hair and it doesn't ended up looking smooth and polished. The curls have mostly fallen out, my hair feels dry and crunchy, and it looks frizzy. Like a couple other reviewers I'm now out $45. But all in all it was a one time thing that I wanted to try, but I'm sorry to say I probably won't be going back. It was definitely not a relaxing experience or something that I'd be willing to spend another $45 on. And no they are not trained stylists, they are trained by the Blo company on how to do their signature Blo styles. read more
