Let me start off by saying that the salon is gorgeous and the stylists I've dealt with were extremely friendly and welcoming, which makes this review that much more difficult to write. I came in wanting to lighten and brighten up my existing balayage (which is a medium blonde with rose gold tones) and bring it up a little bit closer to my roots. I also expressed that I wanted a "shadow root" close to my natural colour for low maintenance purposes. This is a style I've had for over 7 years now and I have had it done at other salons and even at home myself without any issues. I just figured this is a routine touch up for me, but this is where I'm wrong. I showed a photo of what I wanted to the first stylist that worked on my hair as well as describing in detail what I wanted. But as soon as she started applying the bleach, I knew she hadn't listened. I've never had a balayage applied at a salon the same way that traditional highlights were done. Figuring that she would go in with a darker dye at the roots later to achieve the effective I wanted, I stayed quiet. After the service was done, there was no "shadow root" just bleach applied close to the root (which looked like grown out highlights - not what I had in mind). I left the salon thinking this didn't look so bad. However, upon a closer look at the work that was done once I was in my car, it is clear that the roots where the bleach was applied appeared brassy, with blunt horizontal lines. And my ends were over processed. The colour of my hair was almost green. And while it was explained to me that she didn't think she could get my hair as light as I wanted, I also didn't expect the colour to be so muddy. Once I washed my hair, there was at least 6 different tones in there and the ends of my hair felt like straw. It was so bad that I ended up reaching out to the salon looking for a resolution, which is something I've never done before. They contacted me within 48 hours offering to have one of their senior stylists fix up my hair. I happily agreed to this, which in hindsight was a huge mistake. While the senior stylist did lighten the top half of my hair and the colour looked more even, it still isn't the colour I asked for nor was it a balayage with a shadow root. You can clearly see where the bleach was applied in a blunt horizontal line in many places and I'm just honestly baffled. Not only that, due to the top half of my hair being severely damaged, there's a ton of breakage and the bottom layers (not colour corrected by the second stylist) is clearly visible with all the uneven tones. I basically walked away from this experience with damaged hair and having to pay another salon to correct the mistake. read more

I m little picky with saloons. My all time favourite is Bangtown in downtown but I sometimes try something closer . Since I live in Surrey so I choose to go to Cordeiro once last year n happen to go again this year. I got balayage (brown/blonde) from them when there location was on king George in front of casbah spa. I liked that site better as it was more convenient n easy to find. New location is little tricky to find as there are many plazas in and around that area. The saloon does not have parking in front but u can park in the plaza n cross to get to the saloon. It's lavishly designed with all the expensive Redken products on display in front. To the right is washroom , waiting area n cash counter. To the left are the styling chairs , counters n washing sinks with big wall size mirrors. The stylists are all dressed in black n well groomed. They do ask you drinks n take ur coat . They discuss your style n colour options with you. I was having hard time deciding what colour to get so she helped me decide from instagram styles . Explained the process n care of hair colours n suggested products as well. ( which I bought ) Now , what I didn't like was the product quality. I ended up getting ash grey colour which needs some special shampoo to wash . Since my hair are super thin so I even bought hair volume mousse. Omg that shit is too hard for a women hair. I m just not happy with the products as shampoo makes my hair feel like a broom when they are wet. Too much hair breakage which could be because of hair colour too. Anyways I am getting used to it now but I won't suggest buying Redken products. read more

I had foils done by Ashley and after the experience I won't be returning. I was advised that she specialized in blond hair. I was quoted under $200 for full head of foils, and sitting down in the chair, she advised it would be almost $400. My hair was already a dark blond (previously professionally foiled) and no haircut included. She was not the friendly and the experience was uncomfortable. I won't be going back. read more

Went here for the very first time and found it a bit odd for parking (there is only a few spots right in front) but ended up parking on the street. The salon itself is very nice inside, decor is very "poshy"! I went with a level 2 stylist....they have 5 levels with the 5 being the most experienced and expensive. The customer service is great and they have good Covid protocols in place. You wash hands immediately and sign in with mask on the whole time. I felt safe. In the end I was happy with my cut and colour! read more

This was my first time at this salon. I read the reviews and have a couple of friends that go here as well. I first called in to inquire about the experience level of the stylists. They had level one to level four stylists plus apprentices at this shop. They stated the owner was also stylist and worked and the shop (always a plus I think). There was a cancellation so I was able to get an appointment with a level 3 stylist Lindzie the next day. I was welcomed at the door by a friendly desk girl who helped me get settled until the stylist was ready. I met the stylist what I didn't like about my current hair and what I did like. She had some recommendation that sounded good with my color and style. I liked that they had 2 people working in my hair as I want to get in and out. The finished product was very good results!! She did a very good job- no complaints. I definitely will return to see her again. read more

Stephanie gave me highlights. I showed her a photo of my caramel-blonde highlights that I previously got done regularly before I moved to the city. She said, "no problem!" However she never showed me colours, or swatches or dyes. Instead she used bleach to strip my natural dark brown colour and I left with an ugly deep orange-brown set of highlights. That's right, no attempt to colour the bleached hair with my requested caramel. Um, she forgot to actually COLOUR my hair?! I paid the $160 and left a $25 tip and sulked on my way out. Waste of money and time... and my poor hair! It is a bummer that she is considered the salon's "colourist" and she doesn't know how to implement colour techniques or Balyage etc. read more

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! Save yourself some time and money and find another salon. The salon ruined my hair and still made me pay 150 dollars. I want home crying because my hair looked awful and and nothing close to what I had asked for. They have horrible customer service and the salon owner only cares about your money not wether your happy with your services or not. Horrible experience! I went there 5-6 times over a year and a half for haircuts only. I found them to be quite overpriced, but the salon is 2 minutes from home and the stylists did a decent enough job up until my last visit. I asked for my collarbone-length "lob" to come up off my shoulders a bit, closer to my chin. What I got was a poorly conceived, uneven, choppy bob, that is up to my hairline at my neck and is less than an inch past my ears!! With naturally curly hair, this style requires daily straightening and maintenance, and with two babies at home, there is no way I can do that. The manager and owner were initially very concerned by my experience, offering me a refund, and inviting me back to have someone else take a look. Then they suddenly changed their tune. They honoured the refund, but told me I didn't need to come into the salon to get it (they did it over the phone) and they made it clear I was not welcome to return, telling me twice that "they hoped I found a salon to better meet my needs." What I needed was someone to cut my hair the way I asked, not to take off 4-6+ inches!! Too bad that $100 refund won't bring my hair back. read more

I've been to Salon Cordeiro twice now, once for a cut and highlights, and once for just a cut. The salon is beautifully decorated from the inside and out - it makes you feel like you are getting the top notch glam treatment. The stylists were friendly and did a great job on my hair every time. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars is because it's absolutely impossible to book an appointment with them. I've called many times only to hear the phone ring with no answer. If I am able to speak with someone, I can only get an appointment 6-8 weeks out. I understand that you're busy- but you need a more effective way of booking appointments. Perhaps invest in an online booking platform where users can place place a deposit and book their own appointments. read more

I've been visiting Salon Coderio for a few years now, I see Lindzie and I'm always thankful to have her taking care of my hair. She's very intuitive with what will look the best over the course of many visits and we try to discuss the vision for my hair. I'm very appreciate of how she stays current with hair trends and is always suggesting fresh new ideas. Lindzie also has an artists touch and has often surprises me with her ability for good color matching and by surprising me with her subtle yet creative touches. I also enjoy visiting the salon and being apart of the atmosphere for 2 hours. I highly recommend! read more

I had an absolutely horrible experience at Salon Cordeiro. I came here after having had a haircut here on numerous occasions with Lindzie a few years ago when I lived in White Rock, who was absolutely great. In the summer, I decided to give them a try again and called to book an appointment with Lindzie. They told me on the phone that she wasn't available, but they'd book me with someone else who was good. So I went in, mind you this was before an important trip to Europe, that I made them aware of. I sat down in the chair, and the girl that cut my hair just grabbed an electric clipper and shaved the sides off. To make matters worse, when she did grab the scissors she cut it so short it was reminiscent of a skinhead. I was basically half bald, and I was expected to pay $40 for this barbershop-style cut. Being the kind of person I am, I paid the tab feeling very used. She got me out of there as soon as fast as she could. So after going home and seeing the damage I decided to phone the salon and complain. I told them I had a very positive experiences in the past. The owner couldn't even give us a call to apologize and actually got Lindzie to call and apologize for the whole debacle that she wasn't even responsible for. It was appalling that the manager couldn't even deal with the problem. I later learned that the hairdresser had recently graduated from an academy and they made me pay a premium for it! It took a lot of effort to even get them to even try to fix my hair, they would not budge on reimbursing us. In the end, the owner agreed to bleach out my hair out for me and work with what little hair I had to correct the lines. The only reason this salon deserves anything is because Lindzie has always been so wonderful. She had to deal with a problem that wasn't even hers, and was really professional and nice about it. Corderio is a beautiful salon with some talented hair stylists. However their attitude is quite conceited and customer service is obviously not one of their strong suits. I had an appointment back at the end of June to get a blonde ombre done on my hair (I have naturally black hair). I have come here in the past to get the same thing done but with another stylist who no longer works here. So I booked in with Valentina who the receptionist said is a senior stylist and good with ombres. I showed her pictures of the look that I was going for, she noted that she would not be able to get it as light as I desired the first go around since my hair is dark. I said that it was fine, I just DID NOT want it to be ORANGE. I didn't have any concerns going in as I have gotten the SAME coloring and placement done at this salon before, and considering all stylists go through a training process I assumed a senior stylist would have no problem achieving the same look. But I ended up walking away after spending $300 with orangey brown streaks.... streaks... NOT an ombre or even close to an ombre. I called to ask to come in for a fix and explained to the receptionist what was wrong. The worst part was the customer service when I came in, Val was more defensive than apologetic. She went back and forth with me arguing and noted that there must have been a miscommunication (in other words trying to place blame on me) when I showed her PICTURES. I get that it couldn't be that light first go, but if the placement isn't even right (thin streaks and no solid color with blending like an ombre should be) then how are you going to get hair, that you haven't even dyed, lighter on the second time around???? She offered to place a few more foils but said i'd have to pay for anything more. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Why book me in for an ombre if you're going to give me orange streaks that look like what my sister used to get 15 years ago. I'm sure other stylists are talented here, but honestly the ones I've liked have gone, and I am way too scared to try anyone else after this. Sad because I have come here a number of times and recommended them to a number of friends in the past. **If you are Asian/Indian with dark hair looking for an ombre or balayage STAY AWAY from Val!** Also, Beware - The total bill didn't add up in my head, so I asked for them to print me a detailed bill and there was $40 of extra charges that were not explained or ok'd by me!!! read more

Salon Cordeiro is well known in South Surrey. I am always happy with my hair, however, every time I go to the salon I am always a little shocked at its lack of upkeep and tidiness! Dust collects on the shelves, tables, on top of pieces on the wall, and in the corners of the floor. The white floor has scuff marks all over it. I even went to an appointment as soon as they opened in the morning and it was still dusty and dirty - I would understand if this happens throughout the day in such a busy salon! Also to note... the style is outdated and could be so much fresher! Nonetheless I guess I will keep going back for my stylist! read more

I've tried this salon several times a the recommendation of a friend. Lindzie and Jackie are very talented and friendly, however I cannot say the same for the rest of the staff. The rest of the staff including the owner love to stare and never smile which makes for a very uncomfortable environment. It seems as though several girls there make it their mission to act as pretentious as possible. They try and pull off this very glamours atmosphere with chandeliers and gold accents, however the salon is always filthy. The floors are always covered in hair and dust. The only time I have ever felt comfortable in this salon is seeing going at odd hours when Lindzie is the only stylist working. read more

I got a cut and color by a girl named Valentina and I was not impressed. I asked for a gradual blonde ombre and she gave me chunky orange streaks. I also asked for a medium layered haircut and she cut my hair straight! I am mortified and she said she will fix it with a couple of strands of highlights for free but to redo the whole head again she will charge me another $175! WTH!! She did not take the time to listen to what I wanted and rushed me off because she has another client coming in. Not impressed. I have never experienced such a bad color and haircut in my life. She was suppose to be the more senior but clearly with her work she is still at junior level. There was a lady beside me that was also gettinga haircut by some girl and was complaining she cut it to short and to stop cutting. The girl was still cutting. . I cannot comment about the other girls that work there. But my experience has been the worst EVER! Besides the bad hair cut and color, this salon is absolutely stunning and the girls there are very friendly, offered water and was very courteous. I called in to get a refund and the receptionist was super amazing. She was so courteous and tried to resolve the issue in such a professional manner. Thumbs up. I got a refund. read more

I made a visit last week. I've been in Canada for 3 years now and still trying to find someone I like and can use for life and think I may have found 'the one'! I was booked in with Melissa a level 2 stylist ($51- Level 1 stylists are $41) and she was well worth the money. She did a great job and the conversation was not forced in any way. I was very comfortable and am very very pleased with how my hair turned out in each and every way. After we were done I was given an envelope with a 20% off your next cut coupon as well as a couple of other coupons. I was very impressed with the look of the place- it's absolutely gorgeous and a great location. 3 things that would improve the service: 1) I wasn't offered a single drink but other people were? 2) I feel all employees walking by a customer or make eye contact should at least smile, if not say hello. But maybe that's just me. 3) Though the salon and cutting area was quite clean, there was a horrible HORRIBLE amount of hair cuttings from different people that had made their way to the front of the salon right where the waiting area was. My appointment was in the morning so I assume by the amount, it must have been there for a while? I am not a fussy person at all and understand due to the nature of the business, there will be hair on the floor, but this was just gross and off putting from the start! I went to this salon and I regret it. I got my hair coloured, I asked for a light ask brown all over, but ended up getting a grey balayage which had a hint of blue/green in it....as well as they completely fried my hair from leaving the bleach on for too long, it was on my hair for about 2.5 to 3 hours. The day after I woke up I had a severe allergic reaction to the dye/toner. My scalp was burning and swollen, it eventually made its way to my face. I ended up going to the hospital. The doctor at the hospital said that it was from the dye/toner. I contacted the salon the next day after the swelling came down a bit... I called and asked for the owner but she was not in that day, the woman I spoke to asked that happened, I was reluctant to tell her so I just mentioned that I didn't like the colour of my hair because I wanted to just speak to the owner about it. She stated that she would let the owner know and then get her to call me back....I had this feeling that I wasn't going to hear so I emailed the owner directly and she contacted me a couple of hours later to say that I could have my money back...I went back that night and the girls that were there were very cold and rude to me, they were just giving me a horrible look. I had just spoken to someone that I know and she says that she had a client come in who went to this same salon and she had the same reaction a week before me. You either need to train your stylists better or get new product because this is two people in 2 weeks... I have mentioned to everyone that I know not to come here. Beware. read more

Gone in here before, but the usual girl I go to wasn't available so I ended up booking an appointment with Valentina, whom they said was more experienced. One of the rudest girls I've met there. Didn't offer me any tea or water like the other stylists do, didn't offer to take my jacket, then literally chopped my hair right off in a straight cut. I asked for an ombre and it turned out like a dip dye. It was supposed to be a cut & colour but I obviously was of no importance to her that day as she spent approximately 5 minutes cutting my hair.. won't be going back to her. read more

I had my first appointment with Jackie Lutar late last month before I went on holiday's. She did a full head of highlights and a cut. I am a blonde and am pretty particular when it comes to the tone of my hair. What an amazing transformation she did! I left there extremely satisfied with the tone and cut of my hair. The receptionist was extremely polite as well. Overall, I had an amazing experience at the salon. I am not too sure what happened to others who have commented. I would hope a couple of unhappy customers who chose to complain over yelp won't deter anyone from coming to this salon. read more

Awful experience, I tried it the first time and the stylist didn't colour my hair the colour I wanted. She blamed my box dye, so I figured I'll give the salon a second chance and have a level 4 stylist correct it, well she dyed half my hair red and left half of it blonde. When I complained the receptionist brushed me off and said well "some would love the look". Not impressed wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

Sam Kelly is my hair stylist and she is amazing, she is a newer stylist but you would never know it! she does amazing cuts and NEVER cuts to much off, and always has my highlights nice and close to the roots! all the other girls in there are super amazing, and make the salon have a good vice! read more

Do not go here!! They completely ruined my hair and made it a mix of three different colours that did not look blended. I went in for them to fix it that same day and even after the second time my hair looked like complete crap. The staff are extremely rude and they do not care about what you have to say they just want you to leave their salon asap so they don't have to deal with you. They are so unprofessional. Save your money and go somewhere else. At least you won't walk out with ugly hair and look like you dipped your hair in paint. read more

The stylist whacked a chunk out of the back of my bob style hair. I could see her expression when she did it. Just a split second and I picked up her expression. For the next week people agreed that they saw a chunk out of the back. I returned to complain and I was on trial! What was I guilty of? Making this up? Lol. She denied a problem. She told me to wait to talk to the "owner" so I used that time to go back to the hairdressing academy on 24th ave to speak directly to her instructor who agreed and wrote a note on his business card that there was a chunk out of the back. I went back, gave them an opportunity to admit wrong but oh no, they were right and I was wrong! So I pulled out her instructor's card with the note. Busted! They gave me my money back. Who on earth did these twits think they were dealing with? Don't get your hair cut there. They don't deserve to be running a business. read more

It was not so much the salon that I had a problem with , in fact the hairdresser I had was probably the friendliest hairdresser I have ever had. The salon was beautifully decorated and the entire staff was extremely kind. I did extensive research before deciding on this salon, as well as the hairdresser I had. The problem I have is with the promises that the hairdresser made that she never kept. To start, they offer some sort of gift for first-time customers, however they were out when I went. I was promised that the next time I returned I would be given this gift, yet that never happened. I knew that what I wanted would not be easy, or cheap and I was prepared for that. I was really excited when she told me that my hair had turned out beautifully, but when I saw it, it looked nothing even close to what I wanted. When I came back for my second session, my hair looked the exact same as before and was extremely orange. Even worse, it was even more expensive. I ended up paying around $700 for something I didn't even like, I ended up going home and dying it with a box dye! Very disappointed. read more

I had my first haircut from this salon yesterday and I dread going. The customer service was extremely bad. The receptionist asked if I would like anything to drink and I told her I would love a glass of water but never ended up getting it while I was there. I am leaving to go on vacation next week and my hair is a total mess! I was supposedly booked in with a senior stylist but she appeared to have no knowledge about hair! I asked for a trim and when she asked if I wanted to keep the length I told her yes. She ended up cutting off 4 inches of my hair!! I could not see how much she was cutting off the entire time because she had my seat so low I could only see half my face. Once finished she did not show me the back of my hair or nothing and just told me I was done. She cut my layers extremely short as well and with my thick hair, they just spring up and it makes my hair look enormously big. If you are going to the salon make sure you don't book with Valentina and make sure you tell them to show you how much they are cutting off before you're stuck with a bad short hair cut! read more

Terrible customer service by the receptionist. I had booked a wash and blow dry for my graduation the day before and had explained I needed an early morning appointment. When I walked in (the day of my grad), I had noticed there was only one stylist who was already working on another client. Since I was 10 minutes early, I decided someone else would be arriving shortly for me. The receptionist just stared at me blankly when I had informed her that I had booked an appointment and received confirmation. She fiddled through some paper/ notebook and said unapologetically "there's no appointment under your name, and we don't have any other stylists, maybe I had the day mixed up". I asked her politely if she could check if my name was listed for another day, again she haphazardly looked for 10 seconds and said no there is nothing. At this point I was getting quite angry as I was 100% sure I had booked the appointment, and had told her that I was in a rush, that I needed the Blow out for my graduation. She offered no apology and just stared at me. Luckily I was able to get an appointment at the Blo dry bar nearby!! Prior to this incident, I have had my hair cut by different stylists, the quality really depends on who you get as your stylist, I've paid a large amount for terrible gold coloured streaky highlights, when I had asked for subtle blended caramel ones (my hair is very dark brown) the gold highlights looked so awful! The staff are rude and don't seem like they want to be cutting your hair, or at least that's the impression they give off. I have to drive all the way to Vancouver now to get a quality hair cut at avant grade hair studio- which is awesome!!! read more
