Cappuccino - 8oz Classic Egg & Cheese

So good. been here twice and coffee is spot on both times. tried the sandwich this time and the focaccia bread was a great decision. the spinach on it was done perfect too, not that weird wilty looking stuff. got all the items in a reasonable time and lots of seating inside. thanks everyone :)

Breakfast Sandwich Special

Got the breakfast special sandwich on focaccia and the bread tasted so fresh and fluffy! Plenty of outdoor seating and the weather is so nice. Order at the counter and they will call your name when it's ready.

Loved the cute vibes and delicious food here. Didn't love the rude service and long wait time. We got the Breakfast Sandwich Special on focaccia and the Middlesex sandwich on an everything bagel and both were delicious. As another reviewer mentioned, the focaccia was one of the best I've ever had (soft, light, and lightly toasted). The everything bagel had a great amount of flavoring, but could have been larger/doughier. Both sandwich fillings were delicious, but I would recommend the Breakfast Sandwich Special if you prefer the creaminess of avocado and the Middlesex if you prefer the smokiness of tempeh bacon. The lowlights were: - The cashier taking our order giving us rude looks every time we asked a question (can you get a sandwich advertised on focaccia on a bagel and vice versa? yes. can you get matcha as a tea and not a latte? no.) - The 15 minute wait time for our order This place would easily be 5 stars for me if they had better service.

Veggie Sandwich Special

Happy to see a cafe that is open past 5! The cashier was so friendly and welcoming- he interacted with all the customers!! I really enjoyed my smoothie- it was so thick with a strong nutty flavor that didn't overpower the strawberry. My friend liked it so much that she ended up getting one too! The veggie sandwich was ok- the tempeh was really nice and flavorful with a smokiness but the sandwich as a whole was a little bland and we used a lot of their hot sauce. I love that there's so much outdoor seating especially on a nice day. Again I really am so pleased with the service- such a welcoming space and decent cafe in Union.

Came here on a weekend afternoon and the line was long. The most average tasting sandwich that isn't worth the price...managed to find seating but it is definitely hard to find seating if you aren't lucky. I won't be back anytime soon.

Bloc is a very cute coffee shop in Somerville near Bow market. It's very cool inside and is located in an old bank so it has a great ambiance. Despite it being huge inside for a Boston coffee shop, I find they don't usually have enough seating and at times it's really hard to find a seat. I wish they just had a few more tables! The coffee is really good and they have a pretty large selection of food and smoothies as well - so lots of options. Definitely a good place to go get some work done if you can find a seat!

The place to go.

Bought ice coffee with caramel and a bagel, the bagel was decent. But the ice coffee tasted like it was just boiled water, had no taste and what so ever. For the price that is being charged, it's criminal to call that coffee. To the point I thru it away and went across the street and union square donuts, now that place is worth it.

Coffee shop hopping on weekend mornings might just get you started on the right foot! Especially with this dreaded cold weather that happens this time of year (thanks Northeast). They have Intelligensia coffee here, so I knew it would be good. I just had a regular drip coffee and it was delicious. My 3yo got a cinnamon bun and ate it up - well mostly the parts with frosting. :D The space is so great and interesting. It's an old bank and they've turned the old vaults into seating areas. There is plenty of seating to be found too, which is nice. I also saw they have some fresh bagels (I think I heard via Forge). Will need to save my appetite for next time. Will be back. In terms of parking, bring your quarters. Metered parking but real, live change only.

My personal test is simple: if a cafe's black coffee is good, then everything else usually is too--and Cafe Beatrice passed the test. Once you move into their lattes, you're in for a treat. The last one I had was a matcha brewed with apple cider and sweetened with a chai syrup. It was a soft, fall-time win. If you're here, I'd say go all out and order one of their specialty lattes. The baked goods are generally puff pastry or croissant-based, either filled or topped with fruit, jam, or sweetened cheese. My favorite was probably a raspberry pastry (though the photo I posted was on Yelp over a year ago, my first visit here). I haven't tried their food yet, but from what I've seen, it looks good. For some reason, this place also seems to bring in a lot of bicyclists. There's street parking available, and it's right by the Lechmere station.

Roasted Tomato Brioche: The cheesy flavors of the cheese were more pronounced than the tomato, and as shown in the picture, it had a slightly runny center. The chili flakes were minimal. Fruit Brioche: The fruit changes seasonally; I had blood orange. The sauce gushed out as soon as you cut into it, primarily showcasing the orange's aroma and sweetness. It wasn't sour, but also not too sweet, pairing perfectly with the brioche. Many breads are only available on weekends, so it's advisable to inquire in advance to avoid disappointment.

They generally require you to order before sitting given the small space so keep that in mind when you arrive. Service is friendly and very quick. Their food is delicious and refreshing, however I'd say the star of the show is their coffee. I really enjoyed the Saigon latte especially paired with the DELICIOUS pastry. Definitely want to come back to try their dinner menu!

The restaurant had a really great ambiance, and I enjoyed being able to watch the chefs prepare the food. We ordered the ginger cabbage salad, the coconut eggplant, and the duck noodles. I would have loved to have tried their sushi grade salmon, but they were unfortunately sold out for the night. So I would recommend arriving earlier if you would like to try it. My favorite dish was the duck noodles. I liked the freshness of the basil in the pesto, and the tenderness and juiciness of the duck. The coconut eggplant was a close second favorite. The coconut flavor was delicious, and I liked the nuts on top for crunch. I also found the ginger cabbage salad to be yummy, but not as much as a standout as the other two dishes. Overall, I really enjoyed this spot for dinner. I liked how fresh everything was, and how the dishes felt very light and healthy. It's definitely a bit on the pricier side, but I found it to be very worth it. I definitely come back and try their lattes and other dishes.

Doris & fuckin' Dixie... by far the best, most creative bakery in Boston!…read more Let me start with the history of Doris & Dixie.... (it's too cute to skip)... It's a southern bakery run by Rick Ryan, who started the company as an homage to his grandmothers who baked for him back in Oklahoma. He started the small business to keep the memories of his grandmothers' desserts alive; they were the ones, after all, that inspired him to enter the world of culinary arts. And thank fucking god they did... Because one time, I was at a party in Cambridge and won a raffle for twenty dollars at Doris & Dixie. Not knowing anything about the company, I emailed Rick to place an order, asking for a dozen cake balls and a dozen cookies. Seriously, what's better than sweet little balls of gourmet, unique cakes?? Low and behold, the man DRIVES TO MY APARTMENT to deliver the order (he's amazing...) presenting two dozen home-made cake balls and 14 cookies! Yum. Not only was the packaging adorable (he put the cake balls in an egg container, labeled with paper that says, "Here's your pickin's...") but each dessert blew my fucking mind. Rick made cake balls of Chipotle Chocolate, Chocolate Clove Rum, Strawberry Lemon Basil, Hibiscus, Red Velvet, Pomegranate, Bourbon, Carrot, Chocolate Mint, Lavender, Chocolate Basil, and Humingbird------ALL by hand and all from scratch. He made amazing cookies too: Chipotle, Mojito, Pecan, Gingerbread, Hazelnet, Blackberry, Basil.... Now THAT is some fuckin' Southern hospitality. If you're in Boston and hungry for original, incredible pastries- go no where else for dessert. Skip the gross chains (seriously, though, Finale's dessert tastes like overpriced garbage slopped on a cookie sheet) and check out Doris & Dixie. Nowhere else in town bakes pastries with so much heart and soul.

I cannot rave enough about Doris & Dixie! The cake balls will blow your mind. I got some from a…read morefriend when the company first started and shared them at work. We were amazed at the flavor combinations and the adorable packaging! Rick Ryan's customer service cannot be beat! My co-workers were so enamored that these tasty treats were not only the "secret Santa" gift of choice, but were also sent out to more than one set of in-laws. Go ahead and indulge your inner trailer trash-gourmet! Follow the Dr. Pepper cake ball with a Chocolate Chipotle!
