I am never disappointed when I come to the Block Table and Tap. The service is exceptional and the food is delicious. I love the Belgian waffle with baked pecans, the brioche French toast, the posole, and the breakfast nachos are all wonderful brunch items. Loved it! We went on a Sunday just after they opened, they open 10am on Sunday, and there were just a few other people but the place was filling up. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful, the place was really relaxing. There are chalkboard murals, the waitresses told us the owner's daughter draws them. Very nicely done! Food was awesome! I got beet and quinoa salad. It was perfect! Tons of arugula, and the best part, not overly seasoned with dressing. The dressing was very mild so you could enjoy the tastes of the ingredients. My husband got a Cuban sandwich. Neither one of us could finish our meal! Lots of food! He also got a breakfast stout. Dark, rich and so fragrant I could smell it across the table. Ok, so I had to lower my rating. Not because of the food. Because of the service. Ok, maybe it was because we sat at the table before the outdoor seating in the back. However, I'm just being nice with that thought. It took 15+ minutes to get a white wine & a beer. The head in the beer was gone, and the beer was 1-1/2" below the top of the glass. My wine was a bit warm. Our food came out shortly after our drinks. I ordered a burger topped with a fried egg & poblano peppers which was rather tasty. My husband had the Cuban Mojo wings & Meatballs which were as good as last time, though much smaller in size. I will go back to try them again. This place popped up on my Facebook feed and when I saw pictures of the place, the food and drinks I knew we had to try it out! We ordered a block burger, the fish n chips and fish tacos. Block is where I'd go when I want to catch up over appetizers and margaritas. The Jamaica Margarita I had was good, I wish it was served in a bigger glass. Their mojitos are delicious, not many places get them right. So that's a plus. The only appetizer I tried were the nachos and they were very tasty, and a nice portion. Definitely recommend them. Since I'm not one to finish entrees, I'd skip an entree next time and order the nachos and another one of their very tempting appetizers. Probably the empanadas. The regular burger I had was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. My mom ordered a beet salad that was also just okay. SUPER YUMMY!!!! I have lived down the street from this place since it opened and never gave it a try. After a friend and I were looking for a late bite we decided to try block and let me tell you it was one of the best decisions I have made. We wanted to try EVERYTHING, so we ordered a pretzel, mac and cheese, cheese curds, a house salad, and wild mushroom pizza (and we were only two eating). Everything was absolutely amazing! The service was amazing especially because they took that huge order only 30 minutes before closing. The waiter even asked if we wanted to order anything else before the kitchen closed. Came here for a couple drinks and i left impressed i loved the place and specially the patios it has with really cool seating areas perfect for some drinks outside weather permitting. It was like 1pm when i went and wanted some lunch to but they still had brunch and breakfast items til 3. Its good if you are a brunch person because you now have a place to brunch later on. The bad thing is if you had breakfast and want lunch you are kinda burned lol but beer selection and drink menu is really up to par. Their take on the michelada floored me and i loved it, it was made with mezcal and lime juice....awesomee. This is my new favorite place! I loved block! I recently went for the first time and not only did I love the atmosphere, but more importantly I loved the food! We started with a delicious pretzel with cheese and mustard on the side. Nothing about the pretzel was disappointing. I finally decided to order the flat bread pepperoni pizza and I regret nothing. The pizza was perfectly crispy, with a great cheese to sauce ratio. As if this wasn't enough food I then went on to order dessert. I ordered the pumpkin pie in a jar (pumpkin everything please) and just like everything else it was delicious! The service was just as good as the food which made the experience even better! I periodically return, as it is one of the only places in town I can get a decent lox plate. As I have returned, the service gets worse. Wait staff seems to either stay in the kitchen, or hang out chatting with each other, instead of returning to seated guests. On my last visit, they actually placed a bottle of water at the table so they did not have to return for refills, and NOT ONCE did the waitress return to the table to refill the initially service cup of coffee. We even had to flag a busboy to get the waitress for our check!!! As for my lox plate (weekend brunch). When the restaurant first opened, the plate consisted of 2 sliced mini 2 toasted bagels, several wedges of cream cheese, generous pile of lox, sliced red onions and caper berries-- I always requested no tomatoes. That eventually evolved into a single sliced toasted bagel, with the same items still on board. Now, they can't be bothered with bagle, and serve toasted sliced bread off a round loaf. And a small container of pickled red onions instead of sliced raw. Unless the owner has a serious talk with the wait staff that CUSTOMERS come first, I may be looking for a different place for brunch! read more

A $12 tip was added fraudulently to my final bill, amounting to a 30% tip. Our servers name was Serina M. I went to Block with a few friends. We divided our $120 bill three ways. My friends covered the tip for our entire table. They tipped $12 each for our $120 bill, for a total of $24, a generous 20% tip. I had written a slash through the tip line on my receipt indicating no additional tip because it had already been covered. When I received my monthly credit card statement, I saw that an additional $12 tip had been added. In the end, that means that Serina wrote herself a $36 dollar tip on a $120 bill, a 30% tip. It's a shame for a new business to already be losing customers because of fraudulent billing practices. read more

All good no bad! I have been to Block several times and eaten several different items off the menu. I have ordered various cocktail drinks and their beer selection is very good. So today was the day I decided to review it, why? Why not all the other 10-15-20 times I've been? Because today we had their brunch. It is delicious. Block is not pretentious, they don't attempt to have 20 items on their brunch menu to prove they have good food. They have about 8-10 items with some drinks and sides. I had the posole, which was delicious. The serving was a very generous portion. My husband had the BLT because he's not a breakfast guy. I tasted that too of course and it was just right. It's served on a brioche bun so when you bite into it, you enjoy it even more. Overall the the prices are great, the service is amazing, and having the garage door open during the nice whether makes this place pretty epic to have brunch. read more

Have been here a few times for both dinner and just drinks, and have to say that I'm a fan. First, for anyone that is just looking for a good beer, this is a good place to go. They have two fantastic patio areas, and a selection of over 30 unique brews on tap, many of which Hoppy Monk across the street doesn't carry. Second, their wait staff is unbelievable. I used to come to the location when it was the short lived Square Cow, and I enjoy eating there, but the waitstaff was horrible. The servers at Block have completely erased that. They regularly check up on you, ask if you need refills, and make recommendations on drinks and eats. Possibly the best servers I've seen in the El Paso bar scene in terms of attentiveness. Third, the food is pretty good. It's a mix of American food served "tapas" style for everyone to share. It's obvious they are still figuring out the menu, as some things are great, and some things not so much. Their Lobster roll and hot wings are delicious, where their spiral chips are too salty, and their "Chicken Friend Bacon" is exactly what it sounds like, and is ridiculously salty. Additionally, their specialty drinks are good, but quality vary's from bartender to bartender. For example, the first time I went, my friends and I tried a Cucumber Mojito, which was fantastic and mixed perfectly. The second time we went, we ordered the same thing and you could tell the mint hadn't been crushed properly, and the sugar hadn't been mixed/shaken in and was clearly visible at the bottom of the glass with the citrus poorly mixed in. The next time we went, it was great again. Basically, Block is going through a couple of learning curves and growing pains, but their foundation is solid, and worth a try. read more

Block is definitely my go-to favorite place in town for food and drinks. Their cocktails are always solid, the staff is amazing (shout out to Felipe and Hope), and I have yet to find a bad item on their menu. Their fish tacos are massive and amazing (my favorite fish tacos in town thus far). They also have a pretty amazing brunch on Sunday that is worth checking out. Also, the servers are friendly, and won't hesitate to start a conversation with you and I'm ok with that! At this point, my favorite meal is the grilled chicken sandwich. Living in El Paso I struggle to find restaurants that aren't a chain or Mexican food. It seems that every place that opens is another Mexican restaurant and it's horrible. I was delighted when I saw The Block Table and Tap menu on another website and had to go try it with a few friends. Upon arrival I was very pleased with the sign that states "This is an adult establishment and not for children." I hate when people bring their children to places not intended for them. The decor has a simple modern tasteful feel to it and I like that. I also enjoy the openness of the restaurant from the sliding windows that allow a breeze to sweep through the entire place. The beer and wine selection was great. It's one of the few places in El Paso that serves a descent selection of German beer and several IPA's. The wine list is very reasonably priced as is the overall menu. The food was delicious, I had the Moroccan Lamb burger and the only thing I would have changed about it was the amount of cucumbers it came with (to many). We also tried the Block Board and while not everything on it was to my liking, it is refreshing to see new options on a menu in this city. The issues I had with the Block Table and Tap where the hour wait for my food. It was a Saturday, however they weren't busy. I didn't like that they ration ketchup to you in cheap paper cups you find at a fast food establishment, it completely goes against the rest of the decor and looks tacky. Also I was not pleased with the owners attitude towards some patrons or his staff, he comes off as abrasive to me. The rest of the staff were wonderful. Overall I took off a star for the wait time of the food and my perception of the owners attitude. I will go back and introduce more people in hopes that more establishments like this open and stay open in the El Paso area. read more

They missed the boat all together and brought a child into an adult establishment to help rate the food. Needed a patio and some brunch on this partly cloudy Saturday morning/afternoon. Found Block- table and tap. Cute, shaded outdoor seating covered with faux grass. Garage style door opens between bar and patio for easy access. Not crowded AT ALL for a Saturday afternoon (first choice was another brunch spot, but it was way too packed). Waitress stopped by instantly, brought out some water while we deliberated the menu. Ordered coffee, hot tea, and a Strawberry Pimms Cup (strawberry, cucumber, mint, ginger beer -delicious and refreshing), then Cuban and fries, and Breakfast Waffle nachos. The Cuban was pretty standard for a cuban, but toasted perfectly. The nachos were odd, but overall pretty good, and WAY too much for a gal to finish. I'd recommend sharing that one. As we were finishing up, the sun decided to make its presence known and it was time for us to go. Otherwise we'd have stayed for a couple more drinks.
