What a cute find! A smaller, more intimate beautifully designed space that almost felt as though I was in an European cafe. Lovely friendly service throughout the meal - they were showing travel shows and when they wanted to put the World Cup on - politely asked if we would mind - which as soccer fans we did not at all! My husband and I visited this restaurant to celebrate my birthday on a Saturday around 6:30 PM. Although we didn't have a reservation, we were seated right away. Our server, Ivan, made our first experience very enjoyable! We ordered three drinks, bone marrow, and fried calamari for our appetizer. For our main courses, we had the ribeye with truffle fries and the chef's special, which was scallops that week. Everything was delicious and worth the price, with the bone marrow being the highlight of the meal. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, with about ten tables and some bar seating. Soooo good! Ribeye tacos - 5/5 perfectly cooked. The naan is amazing and the meat is so flavorful. Bone marrow add on - 4/5 perfectly cooked, wish it came with 1 piece of bread. It seemed a little under seasoned. Sourdough bread - 5/5 amazing. I don't normally like sour dough, but this is good, hot, and fresh. Naan - 5/5 homemade and amazing. Light and fluffy Pistachio crusted scallop pasta. 4.5/5 The scallops were sooooo perfect and tender. The pistachio was such a perfect touch. The pasta was great but seemed to have a lot of almost raw garlic in the cream sauce. I love garlic but was a little much for me. Wish the garlic was more cooked. Macha salsa - 5/5 perfect touch to the tacos. Frankly I would put it on anything it's THAT good. Pizza - 4.5/5 really good pizza and the crust is soft and crunchy where it needs to be. I paid a lot ($6) for extra toppings and it seemed skimpy on those. Crabcake - 3/5 don't get me wrong, it comes hot and fresh, but it had way too many raw crunchy things in it like onions and celery. We were in Texas visiting some national parks. The evening we were in El Paso I was looking on yelp to find a good restaurant. I came across Humo Woodfire Oven Kitchen. It had great reviews so we thought we'd try it. It was a Friday night so they were very busy, but they were so accommodating to fit us in. The food and the service could not have been better. Our salads were delicious. Had a large wine selection, which was really great. My husband ordered a margarita pizza and thought it was one of the best he'd ever had. We live in California, so I don't imagine we will be back, but I wish we could just go to this restaurant again. It was amazing. Don't miss it. read more

This is the third time I've been here, but first for brunch. There was only one customer in the entire restaurant through the whole time we were there. The gentleman was waiting for an order to go. He apparently had ordered food for 20 people. Our food took an hour to come out, we had 3 plates (2 orders of tacos and 1 chilaquiles). The amount of wait time for no other customers being in the restaurant is disappointing. I understand the to go order was large, but it seemed only one person was cooking. My husband and I visited Humo for date night, I have nothing but great things to say. We did not have a reservation but got seated right away with amazing service from Francisco and the rest of the staff. The food was TOO GOOD to take pictures. There's never a time I've been there that I don't love the food and everything else. I took my daughter that was visiting from Phoenix and she loved it. We had the I think it's called Susan Pizza with pears and arugula with honey and requested prosciutto on it and it was devine. Nice spot with a pretty diverse menu to choose from. We dropped by on Sunday after church and were advised of the Brunch menu that was available for the day. Also told that pizza from the lunch menu was available with advance notice to the chef. Started with the Mediterranean dips appetizer including naan bread. The hummus & muhamarra were fresh and tasty. The bread was good too but there was not enough & we had to order extra. Also had a charcuterie board which was great! Some of the dishes we ordered included the Chicken Milanese, Chilaquiles with chicken & a separate order with an egg too (these were spicy), Avocado toast and a Pepperoni Pizza. Everything was good but portions were a little small for the price. Staff was light so getting our orders, refills, ice, etc took a while at times. Nothing beats your own bed but...but...when you find a gem like this...that hotel shoebox becomes all that more tolerable. We are passing through Texas and El Paso was our 2nd stop. We wanted pizza in a chill environment and we found the perfect place. When we entered, there was only two other parties seated, one family of six, and a couple. I really liked the music, the service and the vibe of this place. There was a grown and sexy vibe! Julie immediately greeted us and made several suggestions that we honored. We ordered a bottle of Cab and ordered the Margherita pizza and the taco arabe. Both dishes were delicious! While I appreciate when the menu is really concise which is a sign of a good chef I still feel for a brick oven pizza place the actual pizza selection should be more than a couple of options. Though the chef was very pleasant with us. My partner order a Cuban sandwich and it was really dry. However my salmon was delicious. I was a bit disappointed the waiter was not more knowledgeable on wines and he did not ask my partner about desert however overall staff is very polite and nice. The desert menu was not correct so the waiter listed the deserts however there was no real way to price them. Overall for a $100 meal it was not bad, they are clearly trying. We came on a busy Friday with no reservations (we weren't aware), it is a small intimate space so make sure to make reservations, we decided to sit outside which was fine, weather was nice and no recent storms (ifykyk) Server was very attentive and we had quick service. We ordered "Sara's Pizza" a pear honey arugula pizza and it was surprisingly good, a unique combination but it worked. We also split a chicken Parmesan and I cannot rave enough about it. The presentation, the taste, the crispness of the chicken and melty mozzarella. Bread was also soft, not hard or super crunchy and I appreciated the sauce on the side because I hate a soggy messy sandwich. The sauce (marinara) was also very tasty. We tried the hummus appetizer which was good, however the quantity of bread offered for the amount of hummus was disproportionate--either could have used more bread or less hummus. I had the Sara's Pizza which was DELICIOUS, and my friend had the salmon entree which she said was very good. The place was casual and not crowded, and the music was not too loud, which I always appreciate so I can have a conversation with my dining companion. The service was kind, though very slow. I believe there was only one waitress who was filling the role of hostess, waitress, and bartender--our main plates took over 45min to arrive and when we ordered there was only one other table filled in the restaurant (and they were already eating their food). Still pretty good restaurant but I think there is room for improvement. Humo should replace most of the menu items with more added flavor to it. Some of the items are quite bland like the steak Tacos for instance. I can only give 2 stars for Humo Woodfire Oven Kitchen, I really want give them 1 star but the service was a 10. Their tea was terrible, the lemonade was terrible. Services was great. My coworker was going to order the salmon, but i reminded him that they specialize in pizza not sea food. We both ordered pepperoni pizzas which as you can see they was small at $14. Nothing to brag about the taste of the pizza, it was ok. We arrived around 4 pm and was there about an hour and a half. The place was empty when we arrived and empty when we left. The shocker came when the check I was presented with had one total and the check I signed for after running payment had a different total. I looked at the 2 receipts and the difference was cash pay and debt pay. Shoots no wonder the place was empty, they slap you in the face with 2 receipts. In all my travels and eating out, have I ever been present with a cash pay receipt and a debt card total. At a food truck maybe. The owner don't want to pay taxes...busted. 2 stars for great service. The repeating of great service is ment for your enjoyment I'm silly like that. read more

Great service & yummy food! This is a hidden gem in the middle of a strip mall, right off the freeway access road, on the far east side of town. I live on the complete opposite side of town so probably won't be able to come all the time, but I'll definitely try now! I took a group of 10 there and we all enjoyed our food, from steaks to pizza to salmon. The dough is a little thick for the wood-fired pizza I'm used to, but it's still the best pizza I've had in El Paso! We had a great experience! When we arrived, the staff was huddled at a table and at the bar and they all greeted us with a friendly hello as they explained their electricity was off. I jested that it shouldn't be a problem with a woodburning oven and asked if the bottled beer was still cold. It was, so we sat and waited just a short while before the electricity came back on. We moved to the bar and started with homemade pita bread and hummus, which was delicious and the pita bread was hot out of the oven. Then we moved on to the bone marrow, which we've heard about but never tried. It was so good! They served it with homemade bread, oven roasted onions and a peanut oil, cranberry and red pepper flake relish. Finally, we ordered the Sara's pizza, which we considered more a dessert. What a great combination! We ate one piece there and took the rest home. It heated up nicely the following day. The food quality and prep were outstanding.
