This place has gone completely downhill. They continue to make mistakes with color and they dance around the fact that they screwed its up! Several of my friends including myself have left this place completely. It used to be good. The owner charges almost $60.00 for a blow dry. The funny thing is she herself doesn't even dry it. Instead she has her assistant dry is and she comes over for a minute and then goes back to her other client so you end up with a half ass blow dry. This really but me over the edge and finalized my decision to leave this salon. This is the only salon that I always left disappointed and unhappy. When you leave he salon you want to feel beautiful. Not here! Appears that they spiked up prices to pay for their remodel and as a result really but the client and quality of services on he back burner. If you have to go try Kim. She is good . However stay away from Jo and he owner Crysten! They also are big on product push as well as well as your hair looks great when in fact they screwed or up and want to convince you otherwise. read more

I've been coming to Blondie for almost two years now and have never had a better experience in the chair than I do there. I moved to Watertown from NYC and was super nervous because finding someone who does platinum blonde without damaging or giving you orange hair is HARD. These artists are beyond talented and always up to date on the latest processes and products. Specifically, Amanda G - who is beyond talented and such a great overall human being. She's passionate about what she does and just fabulous to work with. I have full trust in her with my platinum blonde color and whenever I need a cut. Her and Rita are some of the best of the best and it's been wonderful to see them grow at Blondie. Massive thank you to them for their craft and to the owners for creating an environment for guests to well welcomed and valued. I'm super confused by some of these negative reviews as I've never once seen any of the staff be rude or unaccommodating. Two words to describe this place: "Never Again" So, I'm straight man and was in search of a new place to get a bi-yearly facial. After doing a bunch of research I came across Blondie Salon on the Internet. What sold me originally was the fact that they had a facial tailored specifically for men called: "A Guy Thing". I called and set up an appointment about a week in advance. The process was all good aside from the usually put on hold here and there, they then set me up with a day and time. This is where it starts going down hill they state on their site that they give a 24 hour notice confirmation call before each appointment, that's fine. The week of I get a call while at dinner 48 hours before the appointment to confirm me (strike one). I proceed to confirm, then jump forward to the day of the appointment. They call me at 9:45 am and leave a message saying my appointment has been canceled because the person scheduled to do my facial was sick and in the hospital, also to call back and reschedule. Now I understand people get sick that's not why I rank them so low and say never again. Here's where the issue is, they didn't apologize on the message and you're telling me they have not one person who can cover for this single lady? Considering I'm a new customer I would be thinking they would at least try to impress. That was strike 2. I then call them back, a lady picks up and I tell her I'm calling to reschedule because they canceled my appointment. She asks for my name and I tell her she then can't find my name in the appointment book and puts me on hold for 5-10 minutes. Another women picks up saying she's the one who left the message and then proceeds to rehash what she left on the message, and asks me to reschedule. Now that was strike 3 to me. I mean to me the least they could do to save face was offer something free or discounted the next time I rescheduled my appointment. So, I decided not to reschedule. They've lost my business, by their unprofessionals. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh but as a new customer who's about to send hundreds your way I expect good service. Ah, would I have known Blondie existed without Eversave? Probably not. I'd made an appointment with a voucher I received from a friend for 11AM on a Saturday. Not so early that I would still be recovering from the night before, and not so late that I would have already eaten lunch. Anyway, as far as therapeutic massages go, the one I had with Amanda was typical - she focused on the areas I asked her to concentrate on and she used the appropriate pressure I'd requested. She was attentive and was careful not to aggravate any problem areas. I wish the massage was longer though - we didn't start until 15 minutes after I'd arrived (on account of the fact that I had to fill out a client intake form, get a rundown of the process, and change). The therapeutic massage is billed for 55 minutes, and I'd only received 45 minutes - perhaps that's my prerogative to get to the spa a little earlier. Maybe I'll be back, but then again, I'm more likely to stick to my regular therapist. read more

I think Blondie has gotten quite a bad rap here on Yelp. If you filter by date you will notice a lot of the reviews are older. I go here for partial balayage and a haircut. The first time I got it done the front pieces were way to light so I explained that the next time I went in and Jo did a great job at fixing it so the front wasn't as light and in general highlighting it the way I explained I liked it. Their prices are on par with other salons in the areas and the salon itself is nice and clean. A lot of these reviews mention that the girl at the reception desk is not friendly. I had quite the opposite experience the girl who checked me out and scheduled my appointment was very friendly and helped accommodate my schedule to make the appointment. I found them because they are by my house so I didn't get a Groupon deal or anything along those lines. But, if you join their mailing list they send specials probably once a month or so. read more

I went to get my hair done from brown to black with highlights of blue. The highlights where not the color i wanted. They were peacock green. Then I was offered to come back in to get my hair fixed and we eventually had a just dye it black. I was super upset but still booked a touch up for August 2020 to keep up the black. I was refunded for the balayage HOWEVER i am now banned from the salon because anyone who gets refunded if they ARENT HAPPY WITH THEIR HAIR IS BANNED. This is just disgusting and a terrible way to make people want to come to a salon. Just plan out rude. Would NEVER recommend. Mind you i spent 400$ read more

Very rude and unprofessional staff. I had to cancel a recent appointment, as I was experiencing flu like symptoms. I then booked a new appointment online, after which I received an email from the salon saying I needed to pay a 50% deposit, 24 hours before my scheduled appointment. I called the salon intending to confirm my appointment, however the person I spoke to seemed to be unaware of any policy regarding a 50% service deposit. I was taken aback and wondered why I specifically had to pay a deposit. I reiterated to the staff that I was sick and the right thing to do was not to come in  to the salon. Given the current situation with the pandemic, I would expect the salon to be a bit more considerate. The staff did not seem to have a clear reason as to why I had to pay the 50% deposit that other customers were clearly not being charged, and so I asked to speak with the manager. The person at the front desk apparently  contacted the manager who was on vacation and asked her front desk staff to let me know that if I didn't want to pay the deposit not to use their services. read more

Made a last minute appt for a wash and blow dry with possible flat iron. Just had shoulder surgery and was badly needed. I was warmly welcomed in very clean upscale salon that does spa services also. Lots of products, make-up goodies and jewelry, but I needed to not get destructed from shopping! I saw Jamie, and told her I was going to an upscale premier this evening and how I style it al home. Hair is short, color damage, dry I told her. She recommended certain shampoo and style products and I felt comfortable. She said she's been a stylist for I think close to 9 years now, but I knew I was in good hands from the start. I confessed to her that I used Aqua Net for hairspray and she introduced me to a new product. No pressure to buy, but next time I come back I will get some. She says she does balyage lightning ( which is hard to get in Boston)... I will definitely come back. Wash/dry was 36.00. If I got flat iron( in which I didn't need due to her good blow out) it would have been 20.00 extra for my short hair so passed. You'll be pleased with this place, I promise! read more

so here's the deal- I bought 3 services through a discount coupon site. I had heard okay things about blondie's so I figured, save some money, get my hair did- it's a win win. coupon #1- highlights! besides the heat not working in the dead of winter (winter of 2011 remember what that was like?), my highlights were well done. The stylist was busy up selling me every time i turned the corner but nevertheless I was happy with the dye job. coupon #2 a haircut! i rock a bob- i was never under the impression that this was a tricky haircut at all. Heat still not fixed so I had to keep my jacket on this time. After the longest haircut of my life, my hair did not look any different. oh wait, yes it did- I now had short pieces of hair randomly sticking out causing strange bumps. I had her try to fix these twice. at which point i finally said it looked great and left. I could not peel out of the driveway quick enough. I never went back to redeem my third coupon. so I guess in the end I lost. But I do have a third comment! Every time I went in it seemed like I was interfering with gossip hour. I'm all for coworkers being friendly with each other, but after a while please concentrate on my hair and your job. I felt very uncomfortable in the salon, but maybe that was my frostbite talking. read more

I wasn't particularly thrilled when I made an appointment for noon, got there 10 minutes early and then waited for almost 40 minutes for my stylist to even arrive. That was aggravating. However, Angela did a great job with the cut (which, admittedly, is pretty simple, I have long straight hair with some layers. Not rocket science) and an EXCELLENT job with the "dark mahogany" gloss. I walked out pretty happy with the cut and color but really pissed off about waiting for 40 minutes. Although to be fair, she wouldn't accept a tip because of her ridiculous lateness..so that was nice at least. ALSO, you can't tip ON your credit card. You have to have cash. Annoying. Like a few, I'm also confused by so many poor reviews. I've been going to see Jess for my hair for almost 2 years now and she's consistently done an awesome job. She listens to what I want, and keeps my long-term hair goals in mind (longer, fuller etc). She's fixed a disaster self-dye job with gorgeous highlights, and helped me find products that work well for my hair. She even got me in with someone for a last-minute brow wax which turned out great (and I am PICKY) She's also doing my hair for my upcoming wedding and has been nothing but helpful in getting me all of the information I need and did a beautiful job on my trial-run. Bottom line: I have zero complaints about my experience at Blondie. They're my go-to and will continue to be :-) read more

I frequent both locations in order to see Laura Benson who is the absolute BEST! I've been following her for years. A true artist! I can let her surprise me or show her a pic making specific, detailed requests and she never disappoints! She nails color & cuts! Her personality rocks too! She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside! So genuine! So knowledgeable! I've done short, long, and medium lengths with her. I've done blonde, brown, and red with her. I've done foils, balayage, glazes, and solids with her. I've done layers, straight, angled, v-cuts, extensions, updos, and beach waves with her. I'm always left highly satisfied! P.S. Pros: great haircut, nicely re-done salon space Cons: constant constant constant upselling I Iove where I do my highlights, but its way far a way and I wanted to find a salon closer to home to do my regular hair cutting. I keep my hair extra long and my colorist will "dust" the ends, but I do need a proper cut once or twice a year, and I was thinking about changing how I part my hair, which meant a slightly different cut was needed. I've also been wondering about one off salon treatments I might be able to do to maintain my hairs good, healthy appearance. When I moved close to Blondie I was really happy to try it out. I was overdue for a cut, the reviews were descent and they offered some interesting in house hair treatments. I want to say upfront: I am happy with the cut I got here. It was a good hair cut that was exactly what I wanted. That part was great. But...when I went in for my cut I was barraged with upselling on take home products. Not any of the in house services, just product. I wouldn't actually have minded so much, but the stylist didn't really seem interested in my hair concerns and what I wanted from my home products - she had the system she wanted to sell so that is what she washed and styled with before and after the cut and talked about the whole time and that was it. The cut was basically used as a framework to do a giant product sales pitch and the product was nothing I was interested in. Its a salon that wears its business plan on its sleeve. When we finished there was no good bye, see ya, she just turned to the next client and started up up upselling product again. That said, I was very happy with the cut itself. In the middle of "buy this! buy this! buy this!" was the hair cut I wanted. So I'm happy with the service I came for. I guess if I go back I should be clear when I make the appointment that I don't want the upsell, and get openly hostile if the stylist starts doing it. I came into Blondie Salon on November 9th and was immediately greeted by such kind ladies. They offered to take my jacket and hang it which was very nice of them. I was asked if I wanted a beverage which was kind of them also. I got my hair done by Julie Tran. She was very professional and did such an amazing job with my hair. I only trust her with my hair. She even offered a few times if I wanted anything to drink. I got a cut and color. The salon is very clean and looked beautiful. I've been here twice. I've had my hair cut and colored both times, and I've really liked both the cut and color. It's a little bit more expensive than where I'd usually go, but I think it's worth it, particularly for the color (which has lasted really well). I really enjoy the diet coke, candy, magazines, and water. Everyone's been very friendly. My stylist isn't very chatty, but I've never minded because it's good time to think. She definitely wasn't in a hurry and asked for a ton of feedback from me (Joann, if she sounds like your type of person). The parking lot is awful- but I live a block away so I just walk over. I think parking on a side street would probably be a good idea if the parking lot is full. read more

I have been going to Blondie's for years, bouncing between this salon and one other most recently seeing Kristen and having seen Dara in the past. I really enjoy both of their cuts and colors and get compliments each time I get my hair done. Let me say this up front - I really like this place a lot. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the product pushes. I like to indulge in some nice hair product now and then but over the years it seems Blondie's has become more of a higher end product reseller than in the past. I buy my occasional Bumble & Bumble product there but some of the newer lines they carry are just too pricey for me (i.e. L'oreal kerastase) but that is just my budget. Also whenever they offer something I wish they would tell you the price up front. I am savvy to it now (after one visit you will be too), but when you get your hair washed they ask if you want the "Power Dose Conditioner" or the other extra boost/shine conditioner (cannot remember the name of it). Sure? Why not right? Well, one is an extra $15 and the other one an extra $25. They will readily tell you if you ask, but if you don't ask they didn't offer the extra cost up front. Like I said I am not really bothered by any of this but it is good to know if you are going in new. I have never had any big problems with a scheduled appointment. I've been to Blondie's for a cut three times now and have not had a bad experience yet. Though I've never gotten my hair colored there, I do know that they've won some awards for color, so if that's what you need then you should consider them. Like many salons, there is a range of prices: Sunny Blondie (least experienced stylist), Pearly Blondie, Goldie Blondie and Platinum Blondie (most experienced stylist). When I go for my appt., I usually see Joanne -- she's fairly new but she certainly knows what she's doing. I typically just go for a cut and style and pay $40 plus tip (beware: tip needs to be in cash, they will not charge the tip onto a credit card). And, even when I've arrived a little early, Joann has been ready and willing to work on me right then. One thing to consider is that the stylists may just do whatever they did the last time, upon styling. For example, one stylist straightened my hair when I didn't ask her to, likely because that's what I had done the time before...but I had wanted it curly that day. So just be sure to mention which style you want before they dive in. Looking around, I can see that the stylists try to make decent conversation with their clients -- goodness knows it can be awkward sitting in silence for half an hour or so while someone hacks at your head. The first time I went there, they had me fill out a fairly lengthy questionnaire, which was kind of a downer since I had to be somewhere afterwards, and this cut into my time. If someone had told me over the phone, upon scheduling my haircut, that I should plan to arrive a little early to fill it out, that would have been helpful. Also, the parking lot is small; I imagine that the employees' vehicles take up most of the spots. And, the street adjacent to the salon is one-way, so you may want to think of alternate parking before your appointment. All in all, this is a good, friendly place for a quick appointment if all you need is a cut and style. Just beware of parking, and try to arrive a little early for your first appointment so you have time to fill out the questionnaire. read more

Best haircut and highlights ever! I'm only giving this place 4 stars instead of 5, because the prices are a bit too high for my taste. Angela was my stylist and she gave me highlights and lowlights as well as cut my hair. I love my hair - I feel very pretty :) I have very thin hair and usually any hair salon I go to two things happen: 1. The stylist always comments on my thin hair with a pitty in their voice; 2. The stylist usually keeps the foil in my thin hair for too long and the highlights come out white instead of golden as I requested. Angela did not do any of this. She did not comment on my hair and my highlights are a thing of beauty. She gave me layers so my hair looks a lot thicker and takes virtually no time to manage. I'm definitely coming back! read more

I've been here a few times now and I have to be honest with you, Im not sure I want to go back. I initially went to get highlights to lighten my hair, but when I walked out of there, my hair looked the same. I called a couple of days later and went back to have it fixed. I walked out of there liking what I had gotten done, but a week or so later I realized that wasn't what I had wanted either. It was still too dark. I had only liked it in comparison. I ended up dying it myself. Nevertheless, a few months later I went back to discuss going darker. I was tired of having my roots grow in and being so blonde. After speaking with the hairdresser, she convinced me otherwise, saying that I had worked so hard to get to that blonde (which is ironic because I had worked hard dying my own hair to get there, she was right) so she did my roots and added a few chestnut lowlights. It looked better than ever this time, but after a few weeks I notice that the color doesn't look so great anymore. Im telling you all this because Im pretty sure it isn't me. Whatever color they are using fades pretty fast. I know the hairdresser usually puts a glaze over my hair to blend the colors, but I believe it only lasts a couple of weeks. So Im rating it 3 stars, because she was willing to fix it, but I've never walked out completely happy. Also Ive gotten my eyebrows waxed there a few times. I'm a big fan of Blondie. I have gone here for my last three haircuts and I have always left feeling good about my look. My stylist is Jamie and she does a fantastic job. I am always impressed by how put together and stylish all of the stylists are every time I go. It makes me feel that I can trust their judgement. During my last visit, there was a scheduling conflict and I was left waiting for 30 mins past my appointment time. The salon was very apologetic and offered me a free product worth $30 as a result. They handled the situation great, and kept a customer because of it! I would recommend Blondie to anyone in the area. read more

Thumbs up for a curling iron do for my wedding as well as a blowout for my MOH. I was supposed to be in Waltham Salon but ended up in Newton as they were stuck waiting for some inspection stuff. Lisa did my hair and Sarah worked on my GF. Lisa was very easy to talk to and explain my ideas. She helped me to feel relaxed and we had fun. My curls were gorgeous -even well into the next day. I definitely liked what I saw at the salon -clients leaving with really nice looks. If there is a weakness, it might be the booking/scheduling -just minor things. Okay, so since my favorite eyebrow person in the whole entire world left me for greener pastures I'm not mad. As a matter of fact I am happy for her well because she went to pursue something bigger and better. With that being said my brows and I were left to fend for ourselves. Now not everyone knows how to handle my brows because they are like me on the weekends. Wild, curly and can only be tamed with proper care. Tried other places and they just did your girl wrong. One place took too much off of one brow, another location had me looking like I was perplexed all the time. You know the look with the one eyebrow up in the air. So here comes Kristen who is a delight she mentioned one day when I saw her at my job. She had mentioned that she won best of Boston 2013, I'm like well if she won best of Boston she must be doing something right. So I booked an appointment , lets just say I am doing the Pharrell happy dance now. Kristen gave me a brow consultation, and what I love is that she walked me through what she was going to do. Basically I'm in BROW REHAB and that's okay, cause at least I know I am on the road to BROW RECOVERY. *does Pharrell happy dance* Just an FYI there is parking, however it can be rather tight, and you might take the chance of having someone blocking you in. But totally worth it for gorgeous looking brows. read more

Just to be clear here, right off the bat, I've never gotten hair styling done here. I have only used Blondie for skincare. I cannot attest to how good the stylists are, but if they are half as good as the esthetician (that I see), I'm sure they do a wonderful job. I plan on using Blondie for my next cut and color now that I have found them. I am a huge fan of Colleen the esthetician. She gives amazing facials that she customizes for your skin type and specific needs/skin concerns. She's the only one that has ever waxed my eyebrows to my satisfaction (and she's a total perfectionist when it comes to waxing, so be prepared for her to keep you until she's satisfied). Before I found Colleen, I went to one salon that took shears and a comb to my brows! Without asking first! I don't have that much eyebrow hair to begin with...and I'm not a guy...so I was kind of mortified. Colleen's also super personable and professional. I seriously cannot say enough good things about her. I highly recommend her for any kind of skincare service. The salon itself is super cute, and they have a big snack hopper right when you walk in, which is awesome! The only two negatives that I've run into are: 1. Can be super packed on weekends. Though I think any salon that is good will be. 2. The parking lot is super small. If it looks busy, your best bet is to go around the block behind the salon and park on a side street. The street directly next to the salon is a one way, so it does take a little driving around to figure it out, but no biggie after that. There are no parking restrictions as far as I know. Overall take home: Park on side streets if the parking lot is full (and give yourself a couple of extra minutes in case you need to figure out how to navigate them) and go see Colleen. The salon is beautiful and the services are okay, but the price point doesn't match the services. I left paying more than I expected based on prices on the website and didn't even receive a blow dry. Part of salon etiquette, as far as I've experienced, is to include a blow dry if you're going to have your client pay the cost of high quality services. It all just kind of turned me off. Also, the front desk wasn't welcoming at all compared to other places I've been. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, could've been much better. Not awful, but not worth it. read more

My haircut was great, although I got at least 3 sales pitches of loreal products. I probably will not go back due to the receptionist (jackie i think?). Holy rudeness. She fought with me when I told her I had been waiting for almost a half hour, which just pissed me off. I was not telling her to be accusatory, I was telling her because I should not be waiting there that long. End of story. To fight with me about it, was just plain silly. I can tell time. Then, I could hear her trashing a customer who had either left or gone into the spa. Saying "that's what I get for fitting her in, really?" No, $ is what you get for fitting her in. Trashing another customer in front of other customers who are less than thrilled with your attitude is a bad move. Third strike is when I went to pay. I overpaid, expecting to get change to give my hairdresser. I got a rude "thanks" followed by grabbing the bills out of my hand and I got ignored as I stood there puzzled. What if I had really wanted change and not to give my hairdresser a tip? I guess I would have been out of luck. I was debating making a next appointment, but when I was ignored, I knew that making the salon money or keeping customers happy was not on this girls priority list.
