Always in search of a good deal I came here with a BuyWithMe for a full foil highlight with Heather. She did a nice job -- I have chestnut hair and she added two highlight colors that look natural and flatter my complexion. She put in tons of foils (no skimping) and successfully got the highlight close to the root though not right at it. The women working this salon are some of the nicest I have met at any salon ever. They were easy-going and kind and made me feel as if I had been getting styled there for the last 5 years. The BuyWithMe didn't include a blowdry and being currently unemployed and short on cash I asked if I could dry it myself. I came here for a trim and partial highlights but also left with a brow wax! I was very happy with the service and the atmosphere. Heather did all of my services. I was very pleased with the cut, the highlight colors and the wax. This salon seems to be on top of trends (they offer feathers) and are a friendly and sociable group. Let me first start out by saying I'm kind of a jerk. I almost feel bad about leaving this place a poor review, but after much consideration it just wasn't worth the money I paid. Close friends got married this past October, and I was part of the groomsmen party. I offered to chauffeur the bridal party to get their hair and makeup done, and figured I'd get my makeup done as well. They were able to fit me in which was great. I don't claim to be much of a makeup guru, since I only ever really do mascara and foundation, but I have had my makeup done professionally countless times for photo shoots, classes, and just for fun. I hate to use this as an example, but I previously worked as a reservations manager for a salon that had two locations on Newbury Street, and prior to that had worked in salons since I was 19. You pick up a few things along the way and little things can set you off when it makes the difference between a respectable establishment and a hole in the wall. For instance all the hairstylists had on wedge flip flops and jeans. Open toe shoes in a salon completely gross me out, regardless of how 'laid back' it is. There were only three or so chairs at the front of the salon and no real area for people to wait. A couple of people came in to chitchat with some of the stylists while we were there, not even clients getting their hair done, and listening to others personal lives so very loudly is just tacky. The makeup artist was very friendly, even if I had to prod her a bit to chat. I'm not sure she really knew what she was doing, she acted slightly hesitant and asked me a bunch of questions about what type of eyeliner I like and what she should use. After time to think about things and discuss it with the bride, there are quite a few things I'm just not thrilled about. As it turns out, the maid of honor had her hair done by the salons owner, and the bride was done by just a stylist that worked there. After speaking further with the bride, she was really not happy with her hair once she got the pictures back. Claiming she could see bobby pins and elastics in it in the photos. Her only real regret for the wedding was having her hair done here. Everyone was friendly enough, but after spending $50 on the makeup application and the tip on top of it, once I got in daylight and saw my makeup I was really not very happy. The foundation was 2 shades off and orange, and the contouring she did on my cheekbones was just atrocious. It was a very night time drag look, and I was going to a day time wedding. I couldn't have felt more uncomfortable. It was so caked on you could see the line under my chin and my pores were so defined. I got home, laughed it off with my partner and washed my face. I only kept the eyeshadow. I reapplied all of the makeup and at the wedding the bridal party even exclaimed how great my makeup looked and how fun the salon was. I didn't have the heart to tell them I washed it all off. read more

I found the salon on Groupon and I bought a voucher for a haircut. My appointment was today and I had a great experience. Maryann, the hairstylist that did my hair, was very authentic, friendly and extremely helpful. I really liked the haircut she gave me. Looks like she is not only good at what she does but she also loves what she does. Sorry for bad review, but.... Wow. Cut & color, both really bad. For the color, when she was rinsing the color out of my hair, she washed it 3-4 times, and I thought to myself "Wow, she's being really thorough and making sure all the dye is out." When I got back to the chair for the cut, she said "So your hair "took" darker" than I thought." Granted, my first time there, I can imagine you can't always predict how hair will respond, but seems like an experienced salon would know that and err on the side of caution. I walked in with warm chocolately-brown hair, and walked out with jet-black roots. I was almost in tears when I left. Anytime your stylist is telling you to go home and keep washing your hair (to get the color out), it's not a good sign. Cut was really bad, as well. I have thick hair, it needs to be texturized to de-bulk it, so you need to cut into the hair around the crown, and use texturizing scissors to thin it out. Jason B. Stylist just cut it straight across the bottom, and very short. It'll take months to grow out this bad haircut before I can get it fixed. I came to this salon based on 5 star reviews, I'm just trying to give an honest opinion based on my experience in case this helps someone else. I won't name the stylist, she was very nice/friendly. But this isn't a place I would go to again, for a cut or color. read more

I used Jason B William Salon for my wedding day. Mary and Mary Anne were incredible! Mary worked very patiently with me for two hair trials before my wedding. On the wedding day, Mary and Mary Anne arrived at my house right as scheduled and brought everything they needed to style myself (the bride), 6 bridesmaids and my mom. First, they were extremely efficient with their time so if you're in a time crunch, they are the ladies for you. Second, every single one of my bridesmaids image was captured perfectly and their hair styles lasted all night! They were able to do a range of hairstyles such as soft updos, half up half down, braids, and beautiful soft curls. My hairstyle was amazing, so perfect! Mary styled my hair in the most beautiful low bun. I wanted that princess hairstyle and she nailed it perfectly. Without my hair looking too hairsprayed, it lasted all night even though we had to get ready very early in the morning and danced all through the night. I had a good experience here my first time. I switched from Dellaria because Jason B William is so close to where I work. The place is bright and clean, my stylist was really friendly and down-to-earth, and she's been working there for 10 years which, to me, says good things about the place since I've seen a lot of turnover at other salons. One thing I really liked was that instead of trying to push products on me, my stylist recommended one and gave me a little sample in tinfoil to take home and try. She did a great job cutting my hair; exactly what I asked for. FYI, they charge extra for blow-drying, so you can say you don't want it. read more

Hit or miss here. I've been here twice: both times to get my hair done for a formal event. First time: she did a beautiful job making perfect spiral curls that cascaded down my back and were pretty much intact the whole night. The second time: I tried to get the same hairstyle but the results was not as stellar. The curls were kinda limp and not as spirally and they did not last the whole night. Kinda disappointing. It was about $40 which I guess is pretty decent since my hair was really long. I probably won't be going back here though. I only went because of its convenient location near Brandeis. read more

Randomly found this salon via Yelp when I first moved to Waltham and I've been so pleased! Maryann is so friendly and very skilled. When I first went in, I was in the process of growing out a pixie cut (which is NOT easy to deal with), and she did a great job. The cut she gave me was great and didn't look like obvious "growing out" stage. I've been back several times and she does a great job. I went to Jason B William to get my hair and makeup done for my wedding. They did a FANTASTIC job. I was really happy with how both the hair and makeup turned out. Mary (the owner) did my hair and her daughter Heather did my makeup. They are both perfectionists and seem to take a lot of pride in their work. To the girl who said that all the reviews are "spam", that is NOT correct. Have you ever even BEEN to the salon? Because if so, you would know that after YEARS of working there, Mary purchased it, and has revamped the place, making it even more modern and accessible. They recently had an "open house" to celebrate, and lo and behold, there are some new reviews. Surprising? I think not. If you have not even experienced the place, go be cynical somewhere else. That being said, I have been going to Jason B William since high school---so, for over 10 years. Mary has been the only sylist I have seen in that time, helping me with everything from cuts/styling to updos for proms and big events. She takes the time to thoroughly figure out what will work for you, never rushes your appointment, and truly cares, taking into consideration what you want done. I have very long hair that I prefer to keep that way, and Mary has never once tried to pressure me into cutting it, or "accidentally" cut too much off. The prices here are great for the quality of work these girls are doing. I will keep coming here for as long as the girls keep working! :) read more

Anyone know what happened to Michelle? I absolutely LOVED my cut/color with her and when I went back (she was on maternity leave at the time) the other girl that did my hair did not do as well. (It was fine, but I have impossibly hard hair to cut, so it was the same old mistakes that most hairdressers make when cutting my hair; I wasn't upset at all, just not excited.) But now, I look on their website and don't see Michelle there anymore! Unacceptable! I have been coming to this salon for over 20 years since I was a student at Brandeis. Mary and Marcia are expert colorists and amazing at installing hair extensions. The salon is clean and reasonably priced. Never have an issue with parking. Heather and Maryanne are great too. You really can't go wrong. Don't waste your money in Newton or Lexington. I've been here three times now, bringing my picky 16 year old daughter and 15 year old son for haircuts, and then for an updo for my daughter for her prom. Mary was terrific all three times - great work, very friendly and warm. She washed my son's hair after she cut it to get rid of the little itchy hairs - I've never seen that even offered before - a nice touch. I used buywithme vouchers for the haircuts, and did not feel like I was treated any differently than the full-price customers. The updo got a lot of compliments, and still looked great at the end of the evening, nine hours and a lot of dancing later. Her hair felt soft until it came down, then you could feel the hairspray. Mary charges $55, which was less than several other places I called, plus she was able to offer an appointment time that was much more convenient (probably because Waltham is off the radar for prom-going high school kids in Wayland, whereas places in the Natick Mall, Sudbury, Weston, and Wayland got booked up more than two weeks ahead of time). My daughter sat down to get started right away both times (the stylist had to turn away three people who tried to walk-in) but we did have to wait a little (ten minutes) for my son's. She was apologetic - finished up with another customer, who wanted her hair a little shorter than originally cut so she could air-dry. I must say, Mary did a great job with her, and gave her a few hair-care tips I filed away for my wavy-haired daughter. There's plenty of parking. The place looks clean. read more

I went to this salon for an eyebrow wax because I had been unable to go to my usual salon. It is two minutes from where I work and was fed up with my eyebrows so I stopped in on my way home from work and could not have been happier! The woman shaped them perfectly and it was very inexpensive. The only bad thing was my eyebrows were extremely red for a while afterwards. It could be that I have sensitive skin.
