You know how when you look for a recipe, that there's that story at the very beginning that you…read moreneed to scroll through to eventually get to the end of the story to finally get the recipe? Yea, this is probably one of those. For 20+ years, I never really paid attention to my hair. Sure, I made sure it was washed, neat, and healthy, but I never styled or dyed it. Mainly because I just wanted to grow it long enough to donate every year and to rinse-repeat that cycle. Well, maybe it was a mid-life crisis or the shackles of filial piety were broken, but I finally FINALLY decided to get my hair dyed purple at the end of Dec 2023. I wanted to get this done right, and I did a ton of research and perused the area on a great hairdresser. And, every hair is different and I really was trying to dial in on hairdressers that know how to deal with Asian hair (ha, the past bad basic haircuts at the hands of the inexperienced were sad). Honestly, all of the pictures on Yelp really convinced me to reach out to Christine, and it was such an easy process via Yelp to let her know that I was interested in a cut, dyeing, and some styling. AND, I have sensitive skin and wanted to make sure any type of bleaching process wouldn't affect me, so that was hugely important to me. We got all the logistics figured out, got an appointment scheduled, and was ready to go. On the day of the appointment, I was able to message her to let her know I was in front of the doors so that she could let me in. She was so kind and welcoming! She sat me down, confirmed a few pointers, and started on my hair. Wash, cut, trim, bleach, dye. She was professional through the 4+ hours we were together, where we chatted on a number of different things as she made sure that everything was going to plan at every stage of my hair process. Let me tell you: the final result was AWESOME. Loved my hair; it was exactly what I wanted (the picture does not do it justice). She also provided me information on what specific shampoo/conditioner to use on my hair (definitely take her recommendations: the shampoo and conditioner were really good, as it strongly maintained my purple for over 1.5 years!). I received nothing but compliments about my hair the entire time it was purple for the past 1.5 years. But, it's summer 2025 now, and it was time to cut off at least 12" to let my neck breathe. I reached out to Christine via Yelp again, let her know I was looking for a cut-only, and got an appointment. Same process of messaging her when I was outside the doors, and we quickly chatted about my hair as we walked to her salon. The purple still looked GREAT and I was sad to see most of it go, but I do have plans maybe in the next 6 months for another color. Anyways, we did a quick consult, then wash, and then cut! Final result of a bob/layered was soooo nice and exactly what I was looking for. Hubby could not stop complimenting about it all night when I got home, and I love that there's still a little more purple left to admire. With all of the above, I just want to say that Christine is amazing, talented, and so professional. Her art is very visible in her work, and I've loved my hair any time she has touched it. Hands-down, she's the only hairdresser I'll want to go to, and I wish her continued successes in her business because she deserves it. I'm looking forward to my next cut/dye job with her!
