We saw the sign that Blondie's is now serving dinner and decided to stop in. It was nice to see that they always serve their breakfast food and had good options for dinner as well as a few specials. I am seriously disappointed. I have given them high rating before but this was ridiculous. The place still has "comfortable" aambience with a bit of a hipster feel. So good there. The waitress wasn't obviously rude but she was disinterested, seemed annoyed, and just radiated malcontent. It made the visit uncomfortable. Now to the BIGGEST problem. The food. The servings were unacceptably small for the price. If it was a Michelin rated restaurant expect high prices but not at a diner. I could get twice what we were served for the same price else where and it would be about the same quality if not slightly better. The fish was really good. The absolute worst part was my mother's meal. It looked like slop and was stone cold. The potatoes were so runny it was more potato soup than mashed potatoes. She had me try it and it was obviously out if the fridge and not properly prepared. After waving down the waitress she with attitude, like the busperson was more helpful, "can't have that". The plate was gone maybe 2 minutes. They put FRIED CHICKEN in the microwave. With the prices they charge this is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. We decided to leave before we finished as we were now uncomfortable and wildly disappointed. We will be finding a different diner in the future. read more

Our local Soup Kitchen had a catastrophic disaster 2 weeks ago, losing thousands of pounds of food, and needing funds to both repair their cooler/freezer, & then restock. Blondie's decided to stay open from 2:00-8:00 for the last 3 days, with all process going to this Miss (the kitchen and waitstaff all volunteered their time). This is an establishment that our community can be proud of, and should continue to support! As for the food, I ordered the Shepherd's Pie special, while my companions ordered the Mushroom Burger and the American Chop Suey special, and they were all very tasty; the stand out item was actually the side of onion rings - beer battered, and perfectly cooked (if I'm ever craving them in the future, this is where I'm going, and where I'll recommend others to go as well). The ambience was very nice as well; everything was decorated for the Christmas season, without being tacky. We stopped by while visiting our kids at college. We got here towards the end of a morning rush but got our name on the list. Had about a ten minute wait, and we were seated. Shea was our sever and was amazing. We were given the speials and had our order taken. Really good ticket times for a busy time. The food was great, and all of the servers that passed our table were attentive and kept the coffee hot. We've always enjoyed coming to this diner for breakfast it's definitely their strong point. However, we recently decided to give their dinner a try, and unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed. I ordered the chicken parm. While the chicken itself was cooked well, the noodles were undercooked and the sauce was watery and lacked flavor. Stopped in for breakfast as I had some time to kill before an appointment and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered the regular breakfast - two eggs, sausage, toast, home fries. The eggs were perfectly cooked (over-medium is hard to get right but they did!). You're given a choice of hash browns or home fries which is nice - the hash browns were delicious. The sausage was not teeny links - nice big ones and very good. And the wheat toast was nice and thick and also delicious. The coffee was tasty and plentiful and the service was excellent. This place is busy! I think we were in the middle of the after-church rush on a Sunday, but we were seated within 10 minutes. The menu had quite a few choices, but we both decided on a pretty traditional breakfast of eggs, chicken sausage, home fries & coffee. Food was pretty good, but nothing over-the-top. I took off 2 stars for service because our waitress was so busy, she never had the chance to come by to top off our coffee. Stopped in for lunch today. Had a good crowd which is always expected at this restaurant. Got seated immediately and provided with menus. We chose the Thanksgiving Dinner special listed on the special's board. The special was turkey, stuffing, whole cranberry sauce on sourdough grilled bread with a side of gravy and French fries. Sandwiches arrived pretty quickly and were nice and warm. There was one odd thing which I'll cover later. Plenty of turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. The gravy came in a separate bowl and was warm and thick enough that you could spread it on the sandwich and not worry about it dripping all over the place. The sourdough bread was perfectly toasted with a nice butter flavor to it. French fries were krinkle cut and cooked perfectly. So the odd part, mozzarella cheese melted on the bread. Added a different texture and flavor to the sandwich. Still haven't decided if it was good or bad. Asked why and there seems to be some debate about having it or not. I can see where it would keep the bread from getting soggy. I guess I might vote to leave it off as I think more about it. Cheese or no cheese we definitely would order it again. It was a good meal for the price and did bring back memories of sandwiches made on Thanksgiving evening. Will always recommend Blondie's if you want a good meal. And our server was incredible!!! I went here after a campus tour to UConn and honestly I was pretty impressed. I saw that they mostly served breakfast but they had other options too like steak and burgers. We were seated down immediately which was nice. They assisted us quickly too and took our orders nicely. The food arrived in about 10-15 mins which was very shocking because normally in restaurants it's a 25-40 min wait. Overall the service was very quick, clean and clear. My wife and I really liked the food here, but they do not give very good customer service. My wife's meal was not done as she ordered it, so they took it back to correct it. It was brought back corrected, but missing an item in the plate. We could not tell the server because she never came back until she brought the check 20 minutes later. When we let here know, she was apologetic and went to see about getting a credit on the bill. She came back a few minutes later and offer the missing item to go. We declined so she left and returned with the check, but said nothing to us. There was no credit on the check or anything done about the meal error. When I went in to pay, I let the manager/ owner know, and her only offer was to give it to us to go. No remorse for an incomplete meal and not so great experience. Mexican Scramble is delicious w/ sour cream & salsa, scrambled eggs, thick rye toast speaks for itself...I add hot sauce and make my own sandwich it's wonderful and the fruit cup is FRESH fruit and compliments breakfast before I'd after the mains very well. Even with COVID it was beautiful to sit outside and have breakfast. The set up of table was good and the promptness of the waitstaff was awesome. I would be willing to give this place another chance I think the cook was having an off morning. The biscuits were hard and over cooked, the gravy was too thick and I would consider changing the sausage you use for this gravy because the taste is way off, yuk!!!! The sausage links my companion ordered were not cooked on the inside, the sausage is way too thick. The only other down fall to this visit was we paid $2.50 for a Large OJ and the glass was small. This place lacks Leadership and Teamwork! I'm not sure COVID is to blame for this one. Our waitress was stuck at the register for over a half hour ringing patrons from the morning rush out. None of the other waitresses even acknowledged we existed, they never offered to get drinks or take our order. They should have been backing the waitress up that was ringing the patrons they just served. When people that were seated well after we arrived left before our order was even taken is an extremely poor showing. The fact that our waitress lacked the situational awareness that our time was wasted shows that the staff hasn't been trained well. It's embarrassing to watch to waitresses argue with each other in front of everyone at the counter. There was no leadership here that should have observed that and shut it down immediately. Even my 14 and 12 year olds were aware of what was going on. My meal was good. My kids didn't like there's and my wife's was ok. I don't like leaving negative posts but no one ever asked how our meals or service was. I've been coming here for a few years. I highly doubt I will return. Please train your staff to be aware of their surroundings. Please teach them what team work is. If you continue on this path, I fear you won't survive. I would hate to see another vacant store front. Que in fire works because this place has thee best corn beef hash in the world. It made fresh daily and cooked to perfection. Blondie's came to me as a recommendation from a DMV worker who assured me that I would not be disappointed and boy was she correct. Situated on top of a hill right off the highway in a local plaza stands the diner that makes the best cornbeef in CT. The staff were all friendly and the waitress was well versed with the menu and great with food selections. Overall I will be returning and highly recommending this fine establishment read more

First time there, and the wife and I were impressed. We ordered breakfast, which consisted of omelets, hashbrowns, and toast. (I had grits) The wife's western was great, but I've had better corn beef hash. The omelets themselves were prepared perfectly, with the onions and peppers mixed throughout, rather than piled in the middle like some we've had. I was impressed that they remembered to put butter on the grits. Even Cracker Barrel doesn't do that. Our perky waitress was Johnny on the spot with the coffee refills, and attendance.
