What a great local spot! We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. Our server came to the table right away to take our drink orders -- hot coffee, of course. Our food order was taken promptly, and it didn't take long at all before it arrived from the kitchen. The servers checked in often to see if we needed coffee refills, which is a huge plus in my book. A local diner in every sense A new breakfast spot in driving distance? Yes, I'll make the trek. Spot is in a strip mall with a bunch of lunch and dinner spots. So it makes sense to build a diner here. Space is clean and inviting. Servers were really nice and kept up with the coffee refills. Banter was light, but they already had regulars they would chat with. Coffee is Omar's so it's standard diner drip. Ordered their loaded French toast with banana, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Food came in relatively quickly. Presentation was nice, they tried to make it look fancier and I appreciate the touch. The French toast itself was okay. Not soaked enough and lacking cinnamon. Looks like they used fresh bread which lead to the egg ring. Banana was ripe and ice cream was not frost bitten. Quality of the ice cream was good, not a local brand but tasty enough and a good temperature contrast. Whipped cream was out of a can but not bad either. The price was a little high. 13 for 2 pieces of french toast is a little much, but they did try to fancy it up. Bill with coffee and ice cream was 22, which is up there but not too crazy. Tried this new diner just two stops down the highway due to their posts on social media. Decor was really cute inside and we received a warm welcome. The food was good and normal sized portions instead of mega sized portions (which I prefer!). I had the French toast and sausage special. The French toast was delicious, the sausage was warm, not hot. V got the pancakes and it was nice to see pancakes that aren't as big as the plate. W got hash and eggs with home fries with toast and all was good. The coffee was average and the oj was just ok. The prices are a little high but the cost of everything is higher right now, so that's to be expected. Overall, we'll definitely try again. read more

Hubby & I tried out the new diner near us. The interior is very cute & bright. We were seated right away. Our waiter was trying hard but let us know it was his first day when he didn't know what was included with the breakfast special. The menu had a lot of different options. I choose their #5 which was corned beef hash, eggs, potatoes and toast which I subbed with a pancake for an additional charge. Hubby got the French toast breakfast with eggs and bacon. We waited quite a while for our food when it came out parts were hot and other parts were cool for both of our meals. My pancake and my hubby's French toast were not warm and the potatoes were hit and miss depending on the potato. I feel like all of the issues are all kitchen related. They just need to get their timing down for speed of service and food prep. The diner has only been open a short time and needs to work the kinks out. We'll give it a few months and give it another try. Maria's Diner has great potential and it's definitely in a very underserved area for breakfast/lunch places. read more

We so wanted to love this place. Tolland needs a cute breakfast and lunch place. Our third visit was today. Place was nearly empty about 90 minutes before closing. Love the new booths. Out of soup and potato salad Waited 25 minutes for our lunch to come out. I ordered a turkey Reuben what I got was a grilled turkey sandwich with wilted lettuce, onions and tomato on white bread. And very greasy onion rings. The server immediately returned the order at my request with a mediocre Reuben and even greasier onion rings. The good news is that the server deducted 18% from our bill. Also he could not have been nicer. The issue here is the kitchen. Slow and very poor quality. You will not last if you don't get the right cook. I will try again in a month or so hopefully that cook is long gone. read more

The owner has children who dont know what they are doing working there without any form of training or help. Got served by a new kid and he kept apologizing because it was his first day (not his fault i am not complaining about the children) and kept going in circles with no help from his peers who were also taking verbal abuse from other customers that just walked into the kitchen yelling "what the fuck". it took an hour from sitting down and placing our order to receive our food, which was incorrect and not fully cooked through. for $50 for what was given and the time waiting, you could have gotten more and better food/service from ihop. go somewhere ele read more

Well my first time trying this new place and I'm sorry to say I was very disappointed. The food was bland. Nothing to rave about. The service was horrible. The waitress was lazy. Wouldn't clean the tables told people the cook cleaned the tables and he was busy cooking. Three empty booths and a server standing there doing nothing and she refused to clean the booths and one booth only had 2 coffee cups on it yet she refused to clean it. I sat there and watched upset people walk out. What a shame! I could have ran circles around her and I'm 72!! The only reason I'm giving it a 2 star is because the place itself was nice but the service leaves much to be desired. Sorry..... read more

This was my second time there; first time wait staff was horrible this time we had a woman who had stated she was helping out while they hire new staff, I believe she stated she was a nurse.
