I almost never write reviews, no matter if it's exceptional or terrible. But I created an account…read moreon Yelp so that I can hopefully dissuade at least one person to NOT go to this place. DO NOT GET A PROCEDURE DONE BY DR. CHU (at the Falls Church location). I had my wisdom teeth taken out by him and I had to stay 2 nights in the ER because I got sepsis (along with a $4500+ medical debt). My mouth would not stop bleeding for 48hrs after surgery, I do not think they sewed up my wounds correctly. Both sides of my cheeks were bruised up for weeks and the IV that Dr.Chu/his assistant injected also left a nasty bruise for weeks (for comparison, the IV from the ER nurses left a barely noticeable dot on both my arms). The cherry on top is that Dr. Chu never bothered to followup with me after my hospital trip. I'm certain that Dr. Chu knew that I was in the hospital because the infectious disease specialist told me he would followup with Dr. Chu. The front desk ladies were more thorough with their follow up for my pending balance than Dr. Chu ever was for MY LIFE. On Google review, someone else shared a similar experience in that they also almost had to go to the ER and that Dr. Chu was dismissive. So my experience was not an outlier. I do not think I would be here today to write this review if my girlfriend didn't take me to the hospital after she found me trembling in my sleep as my body was fighting off the infection from sepsis at 2AM. If you value your life, I highly recommend you get your oral surgeries at another location.

I've had a bad lower wisdom tooth removal experience with a DIFFERENT doctor and DIFFERENT practice, so I was extremely anxious going into surgery with Dr. Patel. I called him the day before, and he assured me that he was confident my surgery would go well. Based on my experience post-surgery, Dr. Patel was a pro during surgery. I used gauze for the first few hours post surgery and then the bleeding stopped. I was thrilled that I didn't throw up from the anesthesia and I experienced very little pain. In fact, I didn't need any pain medicine and only took the ibuprofen at night as a preemptive measure, to ensure I would sleep comfortably. Since my past experience made me paranoid about wisdom tooth surgery infection, I called Dr. Patel's office to see whether my post-surgery experiences were normal. They were very responsive and helped calm my nerves. I was also able to come into the office, so Dr. Patel could confirm that everything was healing well. Dental work is never fun, but if you ever need oral surgery, I highly recommend Dr. Patel! He's truly the best!

From the start the staff was amazing. They got in contact with me almost immediately after inquiring about their services. They also did all the tedious work of obtaining my medical history from my dentist. For my consultation we reviewed my X-rays and went over cost based on my insurance. I also met Dr. Raja who is probably the coolest oral surgeon I've ever met. He is so friendly and informative. I felt like I've known him for forever! As a hypochondriac I love having medical staff that makes me feel like family. All my questions were answered and Dr. Raja's confidence gave me a lot of reassurance. My surgery went well. Apparently it lasted like 20-30 mins....felt like 5 minutes. All my medications were sent the day before. Instructions were very clear and straight forward and my follow up appointment was set up prior to my surgery as well. As for the office space, it's very modern and clean. They have some water and coffee in their waiting room and they use essential oils to make the place smell nice. 10/10 recommend.

If you have United…read moreHealthcare Medical and need something done that would be covered under medical insurance (like the coronoidectomy that I had) DO NOT GO HERE!!! I know it says on the UHC website that they are in-network. DR. LONGWE ISN'T! The practice is though... Honestly I'm not even sure where to start on this nightmare I've been living for over 6 months. Basically I'm out $7600 because the billing specialist doesn't seem capable of filling anything out properly. She's very nice over the phone but I've had maybe 3 different claims submitted to insurance and none of them have been done correctly, according to UHC. She says she's been trying to get Dr. Longwe to be in network, but it's taking years. I had to pay nearly $10,000 up front but I figured it would be fine since UHC told me they were in network and that the procedure would be covered under my medical plan. Well neither has turned out to be the case because of how the claim has been submitted. Oh, and there's only one billing specialist, Katie. So if she's out of the office, you're out of luck. Again, she's very nice, but I don't know if she really knows how to do her job correctly. On to my actual experience... when I got my wisdom teeth extracted previously, I had no real issues. However when I got my coronoidectomy done, I had severe pain and woke up before the procedure was finished. My eyes were open and everything. I asked for more painkillers and was basically told too bad. Dr. Longwe had said "your jaw will be sore for a couple of weeks." Yeah, that was an extreme understatement. I was in extreme pain for multiple weeks. I was given no additional instructions for aftercare. It feels like my jaw has still not fully healed over 6 months later. I am planning on getting someone else to look at it to make sure I don't also have to worry about potential medical negligence.

First off, during the exam the technician, I can't remember her name but she was a young lady, initially everything was great. Next comes the standing X-Ray , I'm familiar with this process and procedure. I am left standing there for almost 5 minutes, head locked into the machine , not aware that the technician had walked away and begun chatting and laughing with her fellow younger colleagues, seemingly forgetting there was someone waiting for her just down the hall , in sight no less. I had to physically yell out to this woman to come and let me know if I could step away from the machine. She then didn't even acknowledge that she had left her patient unattended, I was pretty upset, understandably in my opinion. I had mentioned this to Dr.Longwe as soon as he stepped in, he told me " I'll have a talk with them, that's not how we do business here " I was alright with that outcome, I honestly just wanted to tell him how his staff acted without him present. Now moving on to the next issue, I come in for the surgery, before I'm put under there are no problems, perhaps bristly bedside manners. I woke up a few times during the procedure, I waved my hands around trying to tell them I was awake. When I wake up after the surgery , I had a immediate denture that was supposed to be placed before I even woke up, although my sedated brain wasn't functioning well, I could tell that it wasn't there. ( I've had this procedure before with all of the teeth on the top being removed ) As I am desperately trying to get my point across, the tech grabs a pen and paper, I ask and she has no idea what I'm talking about. She goes to ask about the immediate denture and comes back telling me that Dr.Longwe would be along shortly to place the denture in. When Dr.Longwe came in he said he had forgotten about it . Then as I as getting up to leave, I almost fall because we'll I just had surgery and haven't exactly woke up all the way. I had assumed that they would help us out to the parking lot, that was the case at the last office I had this operation done at. ( I would've used them again but they no longer offer sedation) Once I had made it home , on the 4-5th day after surgery I had run out of the medication that was helping me through the recovery process at which point I called the office and was told I needed to come in to the office for an appointment for them to prescribe more which is fine but I live almost 2 hours away, I get there, I get into the appointment and Dr.Longwe and I speak and I tell him i need more medication because I am in an astronomical amount of pain, he sends more in and says this will last you till Friday. The prescription lasted a day longer then expected and as I was still in quite a large amount of pain, I called the on call surgeon to see about about possible refill and was told that they would refill it in the afternoon and not to worry, for the next 5-6 hours I try to get in contact with the on call surgeon regarding why it called been called in hours and hours later, my pharmacy was closing soon and wouldn't open again until Monday morning. I finally get a call back after leaving 2 voice mails, Dr.Longwe tells me I took the medication more quickly then the system allows for, even though I took it as prescribed. And that even though I'm in a lot more pain then they predicted he says " it is what it is " then informs me they called in Advil instead. I was made to feel like I am someone begging for pain medication, I just wanted relief from the mind numbing pain I was experiencing. I will not be recommending this business to another person because of these issues, I wish I had selected a different office for this procedure.

To start there is no pain management prior to surgery even if you have an infection and all four wisdom teeth need to come out. Then when I went for wisdom teeth removal, "Marvi" is the name they gave, missed my veins twice and was "fishing" a term used to describe looking for a viable vein for the IV. While she was pushing the needle around in my arm I was uncomfortable and she flat out said "you're okay" Then still a week after the procedure only one side of my face is swollen like a balloon. I clearly feel damage to my cheek with my tongue. I have bruises on my face and they said what they gave me should help and it clearly isn't. I went in the office today and the front staff was trying to yell over me and even called me a drug seeker which is absolutely disgusting as I have just lost my father two days ago and the only thing I'm focused on is getting better. Meanwhile I have a half swollen face and I'm downing Orajel which is numbing my face so I have to go to the funeral like this. Meanwhile the doctor still hasn't had the decency to acknowledge the situation or reach out in any way. Completely do not recommend 0/10 absolutely do not come here. Saturday hours vanished, weekday hours are difficult for anyone with a full‑time job, and the new text‑based communication feels dismissive rather than supportive. Asking about weekend availability shouldn't trigger messages suggesting they "update my records" if I'm no longer interested in being a patient. This practice has strong clinical talent, but the customer service side needs immediate attention. Other reviews on YELP in the last couple of years seem to mirror my disappointment. ALSO, they may wish to remove the snarky, outdated and frankly cringe‑y "...we cater to cowards..." wording in their brochures and on their waiting room tables. It's just unnecessary. No one enjoys going to the dentist, it's a necessary experience. Here's a few examples to consider: "For anyone who prefers kindness over stress." The new dentists we saw were no longer in-network and we were charged out-of-network costs. Aetna was amazing and did a one-time exception to change those visits to in-network. We had already paid our bill in full, so when First Impressions Dental received the check from Aetna you would think they would reimburse me the amount I had already paid. Nope! Not only did they not get the refund process started (I had to call twice), they claimed we still had a balance. This so-called balance was for "hospitality and in-office write-offs". One was from 2023. Interesting how this popped up out of nowhere two years later... hmm. They cashed the insurance check and instead of paying us back what insurance says we were owed, they're taking back all hospitality and write-offs and returning SOME of the insurance check. Basically being vindictive and taking money from an insurance check to pay themselves back. I've filed an official complaint with Aetna and will update this review once the complaint process with insurance is completed.

Feel free to stop here, unless you want to read my lengthy review with a side order of TMI starts here: I assume most people dread going to the dentist. Probably because they have to either lie "of course I have been flossing!" or tell the truth "does it look like it to you?". In any case, I have been going here for my last several dental appointments. The office is very well run! I have never had to sit and wait past the time I had scheduled; it's refreshing. The other thing I like is the tools they use, it might be the norm (before finding this place I was not going in every 6 months; the longest I went was 15 years! It's okay, still rocking all my teeth, no cavities; go me!). I think before coming here it had been 3 years. Anyhow, they use a water jet to get most of the plaque, and only take out the metal tools for a final go through and to check your gums. I had the same dentist my first few visits, my last one was with a different dentist. Both were really great, they take the time to go over everything, and answer any questions I have. In closing, I also feel that they are honest. I have had experiences where the dentist says that there is a spot on the x-ray that they recommend an additional appointment to preemptively address the possibility. It's like the upsell of protection they ask you to add at Best Buy or Target. Only way more costly!
