I was so impressed by Kansas City's market scene, and this little gem, Bloom, was a wonderful find. I had no idea KC had such a bustling food market--it was a lovely surprise! I love the diversity of shoppes. I visited on a Sunday, so it was busier than usual, but everyone was warm, accommodating, and friendly. I tried an assortment from the bakery--croissants, cookies, a palmier--and grabbed a coffee. They'd run out of drip coffee but offered to make an Americano immediately, which was perfect. There was a short line, but it was absolutely worth the wait. I was only visiting KC, but if I ever return, Bloom will definitely be on my list to visit again! read more

I've been coming here for a while getting my bread because it's always amazing! This time, I got the cinnamon rolls & they were OUTSTANDING. It's hard to find cinnamon rolls that aren't too sweet & that the glaze doesn't fall right off. These were perfectly spiced, soft & easy to eat. I went to your bakery at MCI, paid for a large latte and burrito. Your espresso machine is broken and the milk didn't steam. We waited 15 minutes and still no hot milk. I had to leave to board my flight. No latte and out ~$6 for a large. If you can't keep your equipment running, you should not advertise espresso made drinks. Terrible service read more

Another one of our favorite stops in Kansas City. This bakery has some of the best cookies, breads, pastries, etc... The staff is great in helping you decide what you want. This trip my husband and I picked up a couple of flavored syrups to bring home(by the way the Prickly Pear Syrup I picked up in May, made for a great flavored water.I am looki g forward to trying the new flavors I brought back this trip).We also picked up a chocolate chip cookie, peanut butter cookie, cherry danish, and chocolate croissant( they made for a great snack during the football game we were watching while on our trip). Myself and a couple of friends visited Bloom this week for the first time. How have I not been here before?! I ordered a California melt with turkey, bacon, and avocado. I can't even begin to tell you how good the bread itself was (I should have snapped a photo!!). It was delicious! We, also, tried the lemon tart, ooey gooey cookie, and crème brûlée. All amazing! I have become a frequent Bloom customer. I first stopped by because it was walkable from work and needed lunch asap. I tried the chicken pesto sandwich which was SO good. This is probably one of my favorites on their menu. Although everything I've tried has been really good. Their freshly baked bread makes everything taste way good. Their chai lattes have got to be one of the bests I've ever tried. (And I love chai lattes). Service is always prompt and friendly. Visiting Kansas City for the first time ever and was Yelping for some macarons since my kids love macarons. Stumbled upon Bloom Baking Company because of their high reviews and walked out super upset and frustrated. Walked in with my daughter and had no welcome greeting by staff who was not busy. Found the macarons and asked the staff what flavors they had. She slams the display case door opens and names all the flavors and then slams it shut. I then requested for 2 chocolate flavors as my son was walking in the door. So the staff then takes out the tray of macarons and slams it on the counter and gives me my two macarons. My husband who only witnessed the macaron tray being slammed on the counter asked me what happened. seriously wanted to walk out of the store so badly because I was so annoyed with the service I was being provided. I didn't though because I already committed to getting my kids the macarons but man was I really bothered by the lack of customer service. I will NEVER EVER come back. I will NEVER EVER recommend this place to anyone. If you want to be treated with decent service do not come here. The macarons are small and its $3.10 for one. If you are browsing around and in search of a bougie baking company (and happen to be in City Market proper), hopefully you stumble upon Bloom. Bloom Baking Co is French owned and takes pride in their pastries but also, value their customers. The other day, I was meandering around and knew I was going to hit up a brewery that didn't serve food, so I quickly stopped by Bloom for a quick treat. I wasn't paying attention and must have walked in after 4pm (when they close) however, they were so accommodating and turned on the case lights and let me pick my goodie to-go. So, I was inclined to pick up two! First of all, the raspberry crumb triangle was one of my favorite bakery goods I've had in awhile. It was the perfect mix of tart and sweet and had so many fun textures. The crumb coating was almost like a granola, but the jammy raspberry layers were soft and moist. It had everything going for it! Well worth the $5. The homemade oatmeal cream pie stopped me in my tracks with its massive size so, I had to pick one up. The soft chewy cookie was fresh and had an incredible warm blend of spices and brown sugar. The rich creamy inside layer of cream cheese frosting was decadent and nostalgic. I loved this dessert. Anything I've tried from Bloom has been of the highest quality, and I love having it in City Market, it's like a little Pâtisserie right in Paris of the Plains! read more

Located in the very busy heart of Kansas City! I absolutely loved the concept of where this bakery is... you walk in & there are friendly faces ready to serve you! In particular I came in for Macarons! That's all of the craze lately, right? I have bought Macarons from around the state & while I liked the store, I was let down by the dessert itself. The Macaron was frozen & the shell was hallow, falling apart at the touch. I expected near perfection with the price point. I bought 6 cookies for $28 (which is about $4.66 per cookie). For me, the true stars are the bread. I can't get enough of the garlic sourdough. Get to City Market early, or you'll miss out! Although sometimes if you ask nicely, they will go back to the bread elevator and pull a secret loaf out from the back for you! They also sell some other fun things like olive oils, jams, and pimento cheese. The employees are always super sweet and talkative and helpful! The good- the cake I ordered was decorated beautifully and the owner was easy to communicate with when ordering. The bad- the cake was extremely dry and the icing was a weird consistency (hard, inedible). We ordered the cake for a retirement party and unfortunately we threw most of it away because no one liked it. I also ordered a strawberry cupcake and the icing was frozen so I wasn't able to eat it at first. The icing did eventually thaw but tasted freezer burnt. read more

However, I was on the hunt for a sandwich. A sandwich that would put other sandwiches to shame. I found it here. Bloom baking company [REUBEN SANDWICH] is the best I've ever had. The ingredients were fresh, the sandwich was perfectly toasted to melt the cheese evenly and the bread was a marbled swirl bread that complimented the flavors perfectly. Also, their reuben is famous; it's the most frequently ordered sandwich on their menu. As to the sweets; I've ordered a birthday cake from Bloom and tried the apple and lemon tarts. The birthday cake was DELICIOUS! They offer smaller sized cakes if you're only feeding 2-3 people, and the presentation is beautiful. The cake was a top-hat style, standing very tall; a unique version of a birthday cake. Plus, it was so rich in flavor! The chocolate on chocolate cake had about 6 layers, each cake layer divided by a robust slab of icing. The apple and lemon tarts were beautifully assembled and were delicious! Now the pandemic in the room...COVID-19. I was happy to see that Bloom is taking the pandemic seriously. They are encouraging ordering ahead of time to minimize the amount of time patrons spent in the shop. Also they enforce a maximum of 6 patrons at a time. So my friend and I were looking to grab something sweet to eat and Betty Rae's was closed so I suggested this bakery nearby that I had heard had great macarons. We came in a little before closing but they still had some goodies left. I decided to get the strawberry tart and I was so impressed with how delicious it was. First off, it looks beautiful. For me, the custard and the pastry crust are what make the tart special and they were both amazing. Hints of almond in the pastry with mascarpone filling are so good and complement each other beautifully. My friend also grabbed the creme brûlée and lemon bar. She said the creme brûlée was perfect. I got to try some of the lemon bar and it was also perfect because it was so lemony (which is hard to do). So excited to try more and I will definitely be back for more of that strawberry tart. Wonderful bakery. Reminds me of European Cafe in Springfield in that it has high quality breakfast foods. The chocolate crescent has many layers and is both crispy and soft.
