Blackhole bakery is worth the hype and worth showing up early for. They know what they're doing and they do it well. What appears to be a mom and pop bakery is actually a baker who has carefully done his research and brings himself up to date on the latest trends of flavor in the baking world. The vibes are amazing - I especially love the art piece on the wall he commissioned from a local artist. I saw the Instagram page with several posts explaining how he did each part. Everything was absolutely delicious (I am biased with the ham and gruyere cheese since that is a favorite combo of mine), the danish was delicious (I could tell maybe it uses veryberryosa - a recent trend in baking to be used as filling), and the same was probably on the cinnamon roll looking crossaint. Now the grand prize - the mochi donuts were spectacular. The flavors I got were raspberry almond (my #1 favorite I got twice), cereal (this was carefully curated and not too sweet like most cereal based baked goods), Irish coffee (didn't taste like coffee, gave it to a friend) and the mango black tea was also a slam dunk for me. Absolutely loved my first visit to Blackhole Bakery. The bakery case was full of amazing options. I chose a Boston cream croissant, an everything croissant and a chocolate mochi donut. Everything was delicious. The staff was super kind in explaining everything to me and patient while I thought it over. I will definitely be back to try other things. Note that there is only street parking, which I found easily. Also this is a grab and go bakery with no inside seating. I stumbled upon blackhole by accident and am so glad I did. Just south of the plaza this bakery is incredible. It had so many options to choose from. Not least was their mochi donut selection. I thought maybe it would be filled something but to my surprise it was not. I think the best way to describe this donut is a combination between a dough and a marshmallow. It was delicious nonetheless. Finally what I originally craved: a cinnamon roll. I will say I prefer denser cinnamon rolls, but this was a lighter dough. Blackhole is so so good. I don't get out there very often. It might be a good thing though because I lose all self control when I step up to the counter. I always get some mochi donuts and also choose from whatever fruit pastry is available. You can't go wrong with a cinnamon roll either. The coffee's solid. Stopped by Blackhole Bakery to try their mochi donuts and finally see what the hype was about! I had the banana cream pie and watermelon, and my teen tried the orange and peanut butter pretzel. The texture was great, chewy and fun, but the flavors didn't quite pop as much as we expected. Still tasty, just a bit more subtle than we hoped. One thing to note: there's no indoor seating and no tables outside, which made it a little tricky since we were hoping to hang out for a bit. Ended up eating in the car, and these donuts are a little messy (pieces of the glaze flake off), so definitely not the easiest on-the-go treat. I was so impressed by the baked goods at Blackhole Bakery that I regret not coming back for another round before my drive back to Bentonville. There was a staggering variety of fresh bread, donuts, croissants, and other packaged breads and granola in the store, which also serves coffee. I had decision paralysis, so at the kind cashier's recommendation, we ended up getting a biscuits and gravy croissant, a halva-pistachio chocolate chip cookie, and four mochi donuts (we got lemon poppyseed, mango black tea, raspberry hibiscus, and...I forget the last one). Everything was fantastic and blew my expectations out of the water. After having eaten breakfast already, we only had room for the cookie. It was the perfect texture--crispy edges and chewy interior with very rich, pistachio, sesame, and chocolate flavor. We had the mochi donuts for dessert later that night, and they were unlike any mochi donut I've had before. The mochi donuts I am used to are from Mochinut, a dessert chain that serves small, fluffy, pull-apart mochi donuts covered with different flavors of icing that are typically too sweet or artificial tasting. These mochi donuts were between the size of a golf and tennis ball and had a much denser, chewier texture with a crispy, fried exterior. They reminded me of the exterior of glutinous rice dumplings you can get at dim sum, which is one of my favorite things to order. We couldn't decide which flavor we liked the most because they were all equally good. The next morning, we shared the biscuits and gravy croissant. I am someone who holds the opinion that eating a croissant the next day is a cardinal sin, but the croissant held up surprisingly well. I thought that the filling would make it soggy, but it still retained its crispy layers and tasted just like a portable, flaky version of biscuits and gravy. This is a grab and go bakery. I followed Blackhole Bakery on social media prior to getting the chance to visit so I was super excited to give it a try. We got 2 mochi donuts (carrot cake and almond), cheese danish and mushroom, spinach and parm croissant. I loved the croissant although it was a bit crunchier than I am used to in a regular croissant. I expected the mochi donuts to be chewier, but the texture was more similar to a cake donut. The flavor of the carrot cake donut was a bit too subtle for me and the flavor of the almond donut was a bit artificial tasting, perhaps from a heavy hand adding the almond extract. The cheese danish was as expected. When first walking into the shop I was a bit confused about where to go and the guy behind the counter did not greet us so I thought I had gone in the wrong door. We stopped in at Blackhole Bakery on a late Sunday morning. There was a line to the door but it went very quickly. There were so many things that we wanted to try that we struggled to narrow it down but we ended up ordering two mochi donut holes, a Local Pig beer brat sausage roll, a spam musubi croissant, a fresh fruit puff and a blueberry croissant and a bagel. Can't believe never reviewed this place yet. The mochi donuts are the best in town. Not a thin, overly sweet & fried disk, nay nay, this is a large ball of fluffy amazingness. I had the blackberry (which was as good as I remembered) & the ube vanilla. Both sublime. Hubby had a blueberry croissant, but it was the apricot croissant that blew us away. I drive by their spot on Troost every day on my way to work but never stop, mostly because I know I don't need the extra calories. But today, a vendor came by with a box full of sweet treats, and I couldn't resist. I held onto that box for a while, trying to decide which one to try first. Street parking isn't too hard to find in the area as long as you don't mind the tiniest bit of a walk. I've tried a couple of their mochi donut balls which have a spot-on mochi donut texture but are too sweet for me. I came during a weird time when both flavors on offer didn't appeal to me (movie butter popcorn? meh.) so I also got some of their garlic bread to bake at home ($11). The garlic bread was so buttery that the top bit was practically wet after baking, but the melted butter didn't really make it through to the rest of the bread. I've been seeing blackhole bakery all over Instagram for like a year. My fiancé and I often go to high hopes ice cream across the street but we just aren't over in this neighborhood in the morning most of the time. But today we finally found an excuse to get over there for breakfast and holy cow is this place delicious! Much like high hopes, they have extremely interesting pastry flavor combinations. My fiancé was exceptionally excited because of all of the Middle Eastern inspired flavors both the cookie that I had, and the apricot pastry that he bought, were very pistachio forward and he loved them. I loved the biscuit and gravy croissant. I also enjoyed the carrot cake mochi doughnut. I don't know that I would get it again just because of all the different flavors and that carrot cake is more my fiancé's preference, but I loved the texture. It's very lucky that I don't live anywhere near this bakery because otherwise it would be very dangerous! For reference we got there at about 9 AM on a Saturday. The line moved quickly and the team that was working. Today was very friendly. The shop is very cute, that would be nice that there were someplace for people to sit and eat pastries, but we just ate in the car. It seems to me there's not a clunk on the menu so highly recommend checking it out and buying a few things just so you can sample all the goodies. Yummy textures and flavors for the win! Mochi doughnuts are not too be missed, paired with a lovely jasmine green tea and I'm craving it weekly. Huge cinnamon rolls, so fluffy, chewy, sweet and warm. The bakery shop itself is super cool very fun atmosphere. Cool decorations the people working behind the counter are friendly and knowledgeable. We went specifically for the mochi doughnut holes, which I was a little disappointed by I was expecting the texture of mochi doughnuts that you get in Japan. They were still good just not what I would call a mochi doughnut (though I'm sure they are made with mochi flour) But the pastries! They were superb. I would go back there and try one of everything. I had a great experience at Blackhole Bakery! I stopped in yesterday about half an hour till close and they still had a decent selection of goodies to choose from. I ended up ordering a peanut butter pretzel mochi donut (delicious, but a pb chocolate would be even better), an orange mochi donut (HOLY COW), and a plum sunflower galette (I'd eat this every day if I could). Service was greats and I loved the shop (hello plant lovers). They also sell bags of Albanese gummies and they have little prepackaged cookies for sale for grab and go. I can't wait to visit them again and try their other goodies (they had a burnt orange tea cake that was calling my name).
