I went here for the first time a few weeks ago and have come back once a week since... I love that you get to walk around and pick your own pastries. They also are some of the best pastries I've ever had! I love the garlic pull apart bread, croquettes, croissants, filled donuts, and literally everything. A lot of it is sweeter than I first expected but makes a perfect blend of savory and sweet. The inside has plenty of tables and space it was a great spot to meet up with my book club. It even came with a plastic knife and candles, which was a nice touch. Best of all, it was "not too sweet," which is honestly the highest compliment you can give an Asian bakery cake. Outstanding find! I have been coming here for many years and yesterday i went back after they bumped into the space next to them for more room. You walk in grab tongs and small cookie sheet to choose from the many items inside the cases. There is also a section of a grab and go items with drinks, additional cold sandwiches. The main case has the cakes, cookies, cheesecakes and pies. The cloud cake is the best!! There are 3 different sizes to order. These cakes are best described as a traditional Korean style, very light with a melt in your mouth tasting. They come wrapped with a plastic/ribbon to keep together. The cake box has handles and an easy slide out tray with the box opening from both sides. As well with a plastic cake cutter that has matches built it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My lovely wife and I wandered in here again on a Sunday morning and the shop was packed. Be sure to pick up a tray to select your self-serve goodies, because there's a very good chance you're going to be picking up more than just one item. My wife loved their Croque Monsieur, which isn't just French for 'fancy ham & cheese'. Once you've had a Croque Monsieur, the you know what it means to do adult grilled cheese sandwiches. Simply outstanding! Hook yourself up with an eclair or croissant, or go true breakfast-y with individual-sized quiche or fresh items from the menu. Just know that there is a lot to choose from and you are guaranteed to find something for every palate. Pro tip: a loaf of their bread, whether Baguette or a simple sliced white, is worth all the carbs. Prices are fair for the quality of their baked goods. If you're looking for true budget-friendly, then this might not be the place. But if you're looking for exceptional taste, then this is definitely the spot. Parking is easy, but the place does get busy so you might have to walk a few steps. There is seating indoor and out, and just know that the lines, while they can seem daunting, move quickly. This is an awesome bakery with SO MANY delicious choices. Today I met a friend for a catch up and enjoyed a garlic cheese bun that had a surprise sweet creamy layer that was absolutely delicious. I also had a strawberry cream pastry and my friend enjoyed a feta spinach pastry and a nutty baguette type thing. I can't quite remember all the pastry names. We loved everything. My partner are I went here after a friend recommended it to us, and we were not disappointed. We ended up getting a vanilla cream donut, croque monsier, pain au chocolat, and strawberry croissant, but ideally we would have been able to try everything because what we did get was phenomenal. I have lived in KC a long time and can't believe I didn't know about this bakery till recently. They have more than 150 menu items! I got tiramisu and a variety of pastries, they also have sweet treats and drinks. One of my favorite surprises was the cake server that came with my purchase and included matched and candles. We've visited Tous Les Jours several times in the past and always enjoyed it! The pastries are unique, creative, and consistently delicious. Unfortunately, our most recent visit left us with a very different experience. After eating there, we both (my husband and I) came down with severe food poisoning. While we can't say for certain what caused it, we suspect it may have been the feta and spinach pastry. Looking back, I noticed that some items in the display case aren't refrigerated and sit under warm lights for hours, which makes me wonder if that played a part. This was a really disappointing and traumatic experience for us, and as much as we've loved this place in the past, we don't feel comfortable returning. That being said, I still acknowledge that their pastries are delicious, and our previous visits were always positive. This little place was so cute. I went with my friends and we loved our items! We all shared the items pictured below! I think we all decided that the croissant was the best. It was warm, the whipped cream was delicious & the strawberries were fresh! The Vanilla Cream doughnut was next & although we liked the doughnut, the cream tasted like a thick pudding & we could have cared less for that. The blueberry muffin was not warm or fresh.. so we did not care for it as well. My tip is to grab the items that come out super fresh. This is one of the best bakeries around Kansas and their cakes are out of the world. They're extremely delicious and decorated precisely. It is so technically made that you can't really find any flaws. Some of our best cakes are green tea matcha cake and tiramisu. Although they can take custom order but otherwise it's all first come first serve. They usually have 5-10 cakes always to pick from and you can't go wrong with anything with them. Dont forget that they're not only a cake shop! They have fresh baked goods like breads, Korean rolls, sweet and savory ones, cookies, macaroons and boba tea. We tried Tous Les Jours for the first time last weekend! What a gem! We arrived about an hour before close on Saturday night, so much of the early-day food was gone. That said, we still had a solid selection of around 25 different foods and pastries! Some savory, some sweet...all VERY delectable-looking! The place is tucked away a little, so it might be difficult to find unless you're looking for it. Once you're there, you'll be treated to a nice, clean dining room in which to enjoy your pastries and coffee/espresso! I ordered a sweet treat and a cappuccino. Upon paying, we walked away with our food, but I was told they would call me back to the counter for the cappuccino. After about ten minutes had passed with no "call"...I wandered back up to the counter to find out what happened to my caffeine. The attendant grabbed a cup from the other side of the counter and handed it to me. So, either I missed the call, or it never came...but, either way, I lost out on a warm cappuccino...which was a bummer. The food my wife and I ordered was very good! Not the outright BEST pastry I've ever had, but quite solid, and we'd definitely go back for French-style pastry and dessert! Overall, I would say the service we received was bit "tired". The smiles were long gone, I couldn't really understand most of the mumbles coming from the other side of the counter, and you could tell it had been a long day. I can't comment on the service or ambiance since I haven't really been there. I'm not entirely sure what type of donut this was but I can say that it was really tasty. The outside was lightly sugared. The inside was light and fluffy. The filling was really creamy and had a nice vanilla flavor. They have made this place larger so it feels a little too cold. They also used to make these wonderful Portuguese pastries called Pasteis de Nata - little tarts made with a flaky crust filled with a custard and caramelized on top. Wonderful! We picked up what we thought were these special pastries that looked similar but no comparison. Now they are just a cheesecake filling in a cookie dough like crust - disappointing.
