I was new to the area so I asked acquaintances where they take their pets for checkups, etc. Bloom Pet Hospital came recommended. My pup is going on 10 years old very soon. He's in good health and I want to keep him healthy. The staff at Bloom was helpful and courteous. The Vet was thorough and went over his history before the exam. I was impressed with the attention she gave my boy. She did the necessary tests. She discussed all the tests prior to performing them. She answered all my questions to my satisfaction too. The staff called with test results as soon as the came back. Definitely nice to get the anticipation of results over with quickly. We brought out our 17 year old cat with kidney disease and an unknown infection in and left her overnight on Friday. They were going to do a urinalysis but we never heard anything from anyone after my husband left the office. We were told it would be overnight and we would hear from someone in the morning. By Saturday evening I had left messages on both answering lines. I drove by to see if any lights were on. I called other vets for advice. All three vets said to call the police. I reached out in a neighborhood group to see if i could find contact info for a staff member. I was given a cell-number, texted, and left "on read" for 45 minutes before I was told the doctor would call. During this time I had more pet owners encouraging me to call the police non-emergency line to see if they had a phone number. We didn't get a response from Dr. Busina until she found out I had attempted to have Yelm PD help me find contact information. (They had no contact info for anyone. What happens to the pets staying there in an emergency such as a break in or fire?!). I did NOT report any crime; I ONLY asked if someone could help me make contact with staff. Dr. Busina finally called my husband, and told us to come pick Rose up. She hung up on him. When we arrived we were told she had not produced urine during her 48 hours kenneled with an empty littler box and that is why they didn't call or respond to any messages. (We were not told we would only get a call IF she peed, or that this was their plan to try for a sample. It's never worked on her before and we could have said so.) There was no apology or hint of accountability for our distress. We just "should have known" our cat may not have peed in 48 hours. We were guilted about vets having a high rate of suicide and regarding her donating her time to care for Rose over the weekend. I emphasized my issue was not with her skill or compassion towards animals, it was the complete and total absence of any communication. I was told by her that contacting the police was unacceptable: I cannot agree with this based on the fact I made the call on the advice of three other vet clinics, other pet owners, AND THE COP AND DISPATCH SAID IT WAS A VALID USE OF THEIR RESOURCES. We were told we were not welcome to be patients any longer; I replied that she was absolutely not the vet for us based on the absence of communication and we would be removing all of our animals from her care. After taking Rose to a different vet this morning we were able to confirm in less than an hour via a sterile urine removal (that Bloom apparently should have done). She did NOT have a UTI, meaning that she had been kenneled for 48 hours with a litter box she where she have contaminated the urine sample with feces anyway... and it would not have told us anything to help her because SHE HAS AN UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION! Bottom line... by removing Rose from Dr. Busina's care.... She might even make it to the ripe old age of 20. read more

Taken all my pets here for 15+ years. They are great at their jobs and everyone there actually cares about your pets well being. I'll never forget getting a card of condolences when my cat passed away at 19 nobody does that anymore. Radka has that small/home town love and feel. I don't even know where to begin with this review, so I'll start with our biggest "donor" -- GatorX. My American bulldog is my best friend. He's a senior, snoring right next to me at this moment. Last year he developed a rather sizable mast cell tumor, intercostal, on his left side. Dr. Busina removed the tumor and as much as the tissue around it as she could, and then she sat me down and we talked about bulldog cancer. Through a dual approach of eastern holistic (mushroom complex and omega 3) and western (some antibiotics for a bit), Gator is a year tumor-free. Our Boston Terrier, Carlton, had a serious eye injury from one of our cats (we seem to have too many cats) and she was able to give us an eye drop solution from his own plasma to retain a lower pressure in his eye, and this allowed his eye to recover without serious scarring. Dr. Busina also neutered a male rat for us. She removed a tumor from a dear hamster we had, as well. She also helped us put pets to sleep when they were ready to go. Better, the staff at Bloom is so nice. The techs are kind, and they remember our names, patients included. I enjoy talking with all of them, as much as is possible via the influx of pets that bring me into their office. As my dearest Gator ages I pray that he will die in his sleep. If he doesn't, then I trust Doc to help me help him find his way Home. She is the reason he's still around now. read more

I've been taking my two dogs and my cat to Bloom Pet Hospital for the last two years - ever since I moved to the Yelm area. I love the doctor and the staff, and my dogs are happy there. I feel like the prices are very fair for both every day services and also for things like surgeries. My oldest dog recently tore a ligament in his hind leg and the surgery was probably half the price of the place I used to go to in California. In addition - he's healing VERY well and already has regained a ton of use of the leg! I can't say enough good things. read more

Stay away!!! I brought my 3 dogs to bloom pet hospital including their records. My husband is military so I always get my dogs records when we move. First the doctor was not great with my dogs not was she very professional and did not want to answer any question I had. I found a wonderful new veterinary hospital. I asked for my dogs records to be sent over...they sent one page! When I called to ask to pick them up in person the front desk ladies were very nice. I finally received a call back from the dr and she said that they do not have their records. I asked if they lost them or destroyed them? Her response was I don't even know why we are talking about this. I informed her that my husband is Military and I always get their records when we move. Once again I asked if they lost the records or destroyed them she once again said I don't know why we are even talking about this. Please stay away from this pet hospital unless you are fine with your animals being cared for by a assembly line type doc and a very unprofessional pet hospital. She was so complacent about this. It's weird when a vet needs your driver's license and your work information. I understand that they've probably had people skip out on them but that's... not okay. The vet seems fine and the place seems alright, but due to such a weird breach of privacy I doubt I'll be back unless I absolutely have to be. read more

We've been going to Bloom Pet Hospital for a couple of years now. My brother-in-law recommended Dr. Busina when our Rottie got really sick. Everything possible was done to save her, but it was not to be. Dr. Busina came to our house to put her down because it was too difficult for us to try to get in in the truck to bring her to the doctor. We've stayed with Dr. Busina ever since. She just recently saved one of my cats after I'd had a vet who does my horses did a blood test and said there was nothing wrong. Well, there was a LOT wrong, and had it not been for Dr. Busina, Boof would no longer be with us. Their prices, by the way, are GREAT compared to other vets in this area. The staff is friendly and they show a lot of compassion. I highly recomment Dr. Busina and Bloom Pet Hospital. As a side note, another commenter said they were asked for their driver's license and work info. That must have been for a unique situation, perhaps with payments, because I have never been asked for that information in all the times I've been there. read more
