Dr.Braun is the absolute best veterinarian that I have been blessed to care for my animals. I have never imagined finding someone that is absolutely wonderful with the fact that he truly cares about helping all animals. I am truly blessed to have him as my 4 dog's veterinarian. I had a very special dog and he was 16. He had heart failure and kept him as long as possible. Dr. Braun spent so much time with preparing me for his last time I was taking him home. The day that it was necessary to put him down was the day that I saw how much love Dr.Braun has for not just the animals but for the owner. I will never ever forget that day but I definitely have to say that I was completely touched by the way that Dr.Braun was feeling my pain. I am so very pleased with the front desk, vet tech and Dr. Braun! My pup went in for needed dental surgery, and like other vet offices I checked out, Dr. Braun was by far the best! I was very happy with my experience here. They were not accepting new pet patients :) when we called them. But they made an exception for our puppy because breeder brought him to the clinic. Labradors can be a handful. I didn't know what to expect of him during the drive, so I left the house early and arrived to my appointment way too early. I didn't wait at all. I was referred to Boulevard from my current groomer as my dog is aging and they wanted his grooming to be done a vet's office for health reason's. I called and left a message, no response/call back. I called and talked to a human during the day a couple weeks later .who said she wasn't sure they "take that kind of customer right now". My family and I are so fortunate to have our pets back with Dr Braun. Our pets have been under the care of Dr Braun when he worked at VCA Tanglewild in Lacey, WA for any years. VCA closed its doors temporarily for nearly a year. We were at a loss until I called Boulevard Animal Clinic to make an appointment for my dogs annual Checkup. I discovered that Dr Braun was back in town and worked at BAC! We were totally excited and made appoints for our 3 dogs. Dr Braun is N amazing caring compassionate veterinarian. Over the many years Dr Braun has taken great care of our 9 dogs and 2 cats. He helped us with our 5 senior dogs and 2 senior cats (14-18 years old) dealing with cancer and other health issues. He helped them humanly cross over the Rainbow Bridge. When my precious little Pom passed suddenly I'm a freak accident Dr Braun and his wonderful Staff helped me deal with her tragic loss and took great care to handle her body for cremation. Brilliant doctor, brilliant medication strategy. Dr. Braun helped me out profoundly when he treated my cat, Sam, for giardia - a bug that causes intestinal damage and diarrhea. It had been very hard to treat because Sam has a low immune system. I emptied Sam's litter every day, but I (and the whole neighborhood, apparently) noticed it yards away. "Ew, what is that smell?" The first doctor we visited tried a couple rounds of the routinely prescribed medicine and it didn't work. She insisted there must have been a cleanliness problem because it always works for everyone else's cats. Then when we started seeing Dr. Braun, I discovered he was already quite knowledgeable about giardia and about animals with weakened immune systems. He really listened to me and didn't assume it was my fault. He ran smart preliminary tests and came up with a medication combo and cleaning protocol that finally did the trick! Sam has been giardia-free for weeks now and I can tell he feels much better. As for me, I can breathe again and it is a massive relief. So, go see Dr. Braun. He's super smart and he is on your side! read more

I recently had a pleasant experience at Boulevard Animal Clinic. I stopped by on my way through town to pick up heart worm meds for my pup. I didn't have an appointment and they needed to test for heart worm before selling the preventative treatment. They wanted to make it work so they fit my pup in to test. We waited a few minutes for the test results to come through and were soon on our way with the medicine. Grateful for your their good service. read more

The staff and vets are very kind to Chloe Ann and cognizant of the fact that she is a rescue and a little skittish even though she has been here since 2020 and much improved. I have confidence in them to take good care of her, especially since they were recommended to me by 3 of my closest friends! Boulevard Animal Clinic saved me yesterday! We had rescued a kitten the day before from a woman whose home was absolutely filthy. Truly, I had never seen nor smelled anything like it before. It never occurred to me that someone would adopt out an animal with fleas without mentioning it, but that's exactly what she did. Archimedes hid in our closet for a day, as one would expect. He came out a little on Monday and we played. Later in the day he got more comfortable and sat in my lap. When he rolled over to show me his belly, I saw dozens of fleas walking around. Irrationally, I started picking them off and smushing them with my bare fingers, afraid for the kitten. Obviously, that wasn't going to work for long. I called a vet clinic and explained the situation - they couldn't get me in for 3 days. I called another - same thing. I called a third, and they suggested I bathe the kitten in Dawn. Okay, seems like the cat might maim and kill me if I try that though? She laughed and said it'd be fine. Welp, it DID NOT go fine, and I definitely ended up maimed, with a soaking wet, Dawn-stained kitten STANDING ON MY HEAD, claws akimbo. There was no way I could get the Dawn off him, and I was afraid he'd lick it and harm himself. I was crying, he was crying - we were a mess. I called several additional vets and groomers, but the vets couldn't fit him in and the groomers wouldn't take him with fleas (understandable). I kept working my way down the Google list, until I called Boulevard Animal Clinic, crying. The receptionist was so incredibly kind and empathic, and she went to talk with Dr. Nolan on my behalf. They were the only clinic to take pity on this hysterical human. Dr. Nolan told me to bring in Archimedes the kitten, and warned me I might have to wait for a bit. I was thrilled! We arrived, kitten still crying, human doing okay since an expert had taken pity on us. We waited 20 minutes or so - and this was near the end of their day. I can't believe anyone would agree to see us so late in the day. They got Archimedes situated in a room, where he continued to cry hysterically. The tech and Dr. Nolan evaluated him, and said they'd need to wash him (thank goodness) to get the Dawn off, and give him flea treatment. Unfortunately, Archie was more than a little upset, and they weren't sure they could get him to stay calm enough for a bath (I sure couldn't) without sedation. They also suggest we do a feline HIV test, to make sure he was healthy before I decided on anything bigger. They left and printed out all the financial scenarios, so I could see the costs individually, and the range it could end up being, from least to most. That was incredibly helpful - not just to hear it, but have it printed out so I could see it. Luckily, Archimedes behaved himself (he was probably picking up on my panicked energy before, which didn't help things), so the visit was on the lowest end of the printout. Great! I returned to a fluffy, flealess kitten - who smelled like a garden for days. Dr. Nolan sent us home with another dose of flea treatment to apply two days later, along with his second dose of de-wormer for 2 weeks later. She and her staff answered all my questions about fleas (including fleas and our home), and sent us home feeling a million times better than we entered. I went to Dr. Bob at Blvd because I was told I had to through a local rescue, that changed quickly in my situation. I got more and more UNimpressed each time I went in. First set of shots no big deal, second set and I got chewed out. I got chewed out about feeding raw when was told flat out, I don't know much about it but you are killing your dog. Not to get in to it a whole lot this isn't my first dog on raw and I have it down to a science thank you very much. Then I wanted to spay my puppy before she was six months. ALL my puppies have been done around 4/5 months of age, ALL of them. I was told I need to care for my animals better and that they refuse to do it until she is at least 6 months old. I realize he is a vet who has been in business for about 33 years but if you don't stay educated and up to date with research and such then don't treat us who have like crap. CAUTION - On 1 JUNE 2014 BOULEVARD ANIMAL CLINIC CHANGED HANDS AND WAS SOLD TO DR. SYLVIA NOLAN. If you read reviews, make certain they're ones written AFTER she bought the business. I AM EXCEEDINGLY UNHAPPY WITH DR. NOLAN AND THE SNEAKY WAY SHE TRIED TO INFLATE THE COST OF TREATMENT FOR MY CAT!! My bill of simply a checkup costing $55 was going to end up close to $100 for additional treatment which was totally unnecessary!! I left the clinic wondering what Dr. Nolan could inflate a $500 bill to, given the chance!! How many pets have had and will have treatment they don't need, and how much money will people be paying that isn't needed at all! I SIMPLY DO NOT TRUST DR. SYLVIA NOLAN NOW! In January 2015 I took my cat, Bubbles, to the clinic because she had 2 small scabs on the top of her neck which never cleared up. Dr. Nolan said it was due to some sort of allergy. She proceeded to copiously inspect my cat for fleas, literally scanning her entire body and especially the most likely places. The result....NO FLEAS! A few minutes later she slowly did the same thing and once again...NO FLEAS! Then Dr. Nolan gave my cat a shot saying it was to prevent itching, which I had no problem with. Then she opened a small vial and I had no idea what was going on and asked her. She said it was a FLEA TREATMENT. I explained that my cat has never had fleas, that she's confined to my bedroom only, and her exam showed that she doesn't currently have fleas. Then Dr. Nolan had the audacity to say, 'BUT I'VE ALREADY OPENED IT!' To which I replied, 'BUT SHE DOESN'T NEED IT!' I reminded her that she'd examined my cat twice and found NO FLEAS. So the cost of the exam was $55 but. Dr. Nolan was inflating the bill to almost $100...FOR TREATMENT THAT WASN'T NEEDED!! I don't need a veterinarian I can't trust and don't have confidence in!! It may seem like a small amount, but imagine your income increasing almost 100%. My bill would have increased from $55 to around $90+. Imagine your annual income increasing from $55K to $90K and then try to tell me it's not a big deal. IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!! But aside from that, I so resent being scammed out of my money, in any amount, at anytime, for any reason, by anyone! I think I will resume going to VETS4LESS in Federal Way. I've gone there several times and was impressed with the fact that they examine the pet, discuss the problems, then I'm presented with a typed treatment proposal and given 2 options along with the cost of each. I can decide which treatment I want for my pet. WARNING - If you do go to Boulevard Animal Clinic and see Dr. Sylvia Nolan, I suggest you make certain you are told the proposed treatment/medication plan and what it will cost you BEFORE AND NOT AFTER she does it all!! read more

Apparently someone here likes to lie and I'm really hoping the supervisor actually calls me tomorrow to rectify this . I called on February 22 to make an appointment because my dog needed shots. While on the phone I asked if I brought my cat in as well just to establish her as a patient (since I know it's hard to get new patients in right now ) if I would just be charged the ONE exam fee since they would both be seen in the same appointment and there was nothing wrong with her I was told YES IT WOULD BE ONE EXAM FEE FOR BOTH NOT EACH. I was told I would NOT need to pay separate exam fees for both. NOPE that person LIED after the appointment today the charge was more then quoted for the dog and I asked why? GUESS WHAT I was CHARGED TWO exam fees. I told the girl at the desk what I was told on the phone prior and she was like "no we've never done that" (in a super snooty tone she was kinda a jerk the whole time) LIKE??! Then why did someone say different on the phone someone here is lying and I would like a refund of the one exam fee. I really hope they have recorded phone lines because I have times for the calls. read more

Love the vet and staff. I take my Golden Retriever, Cody, there for all medical and grooming/cleaning needs. The groomer, Deb, is fantastic and excellent with my very elderly dog! Deb's grooming and advice have dramatically helped me be a better companion to my dog so he gets more years in. My dog is on Synovi G-4 daily due to advice from this vet office and now, he skips around like a young dog!! They also switched his flea meds to a three-month Bravecta and ever since, he's a happy doggie. Also, the vets there are fantastic. 03/3/2020:Thought I would try this place as we liked the past owner. We came all the way from Tacoma. What a big let down!! The office staff are not very welcoming did not even acknowledge me just Hndid me a clipboard to fill out info on tried to give her my dogs paper work from last vet she did not want it later the vet Tech came out and weighed my dag then walked into a nearby room I sat down and a second later told me to come in she never asked me to follow her I told her that I was there to update my pet's shots and again gave them his old chart she then accused me in a argumentative tone of telling her over the phone that ( I told her I didn't have them ) what a ridiculous accusation! I picked up my pet and walked right out!!! I'm disabled and use a cane. However I'm not Stupid!! Never waste my time again with them. What ever happened to good customer service? You. Had a rather unpleasant experience on Monday.... We had made the tough decision to put our Beagle mix of 17 years to sleep. I had called to make the appointment last week and was told one of the two of our usual vets would be there. We drive 45 minutes each way to go to this clinic with high recommendations. We have been coming here for YEARS... When we arrived on Monday a vet we don't know was working (a relief vet). She wouldn't allow us to do the procedure in the van, which would be more peaceful for our dog. Instead, we shuffled through a very crowded waiting room with kids running around, and then we were kept waiting for over 30 minutes. Then they wanted to take her behind closed doors, away from us to just get an IV catheter put in. While they did that, our old lady became very agitated and stressed. If they had known the clinic was going to be this busy, they could have called to confirm and possibly reschedule to a more appropriate time. And if they had called and told me it was a different vet working then the two I *always* request then I would have rescheduled when one of those two were able to see us. It was unfair to her and to us, long time standing customers. I love our vets but this experience has left me asking myself if I want to start going elsewhere. read more

First off, this vet changed ownership in 2014 and this review is for the new ownership. Please know when you drop your dog off for boarding here dogs are left alone in a kennel from 6pm until the next day. During most of Saturday, all of Sunday and major holidays your animals are left completely alone except for brief drop-ins by staff as the clinic is closed. The dogs sound extremely stressed out while left alone and animal services has had to reach out to the owner more than once. The owner has made no changes. The city is now involved. Also, this vet clinic lost a small dog this summer during the dog's stay, the dog escaped from the kennel area and still has not been found. They also had a cat run away this summer, I am unsure of that outcome. I do not recommend this clinic. read more

I had a similar experience as Maya S. I went to Dr Bob several times when I was living near by and got the same story about raw food, eating grass, buying his food products, etc etc. In fact at one point Dr Bob got pissy and basically told me he didn't care about my animal care beliefs.... His bedside manor has gotten much more abrasive and offensive as time has progressed. I also agree with Maya S that he seems to be stuck in an old school mindset and is narrow minded. His facility is very run down and at times rather dirty. And his charges are no less expensive than other vets with new facilities and a legion of competent staff. Dr. Bob Gilpin has always provided great care for my pets. I trust him to thoroughly examine my pets and explain the diagnosis to me. I have had two dogs and one cat under his care over a period of 11 years. From regular exams and treatment for minor injuries to a cancer diagnosis and surgery for one of my dogs, he has always met my expectations. His loving manner always puts me at ease. Going to the vet is not something pets want to do, but Dr. Bob does a great job of calming my pets to make them more comfortable. His reputation for quality care is well known in the community as many of my friends have him as their vet for their pets. read more

I took my dog here for years, Dr. Bob was great with her. She had to be put to sleep a few days ago and I am so grateful that we chose to take her to him. He gave us a ton of support, and he has a real gift with animals. Seriously, he's the dog whisperer. He told us to take as much time as we needed before we left, even though it was past closing time. He made sure she was very comfortable and felt no pain. He even told her a story about the beautiful meadow in the sky, where I'm sure she is now. When I asked his staff for an ink print of her paws, they were very accommodating and went out of their way to make it happen even though they had none of the needed supplies there. We are new to the area and chose Boulevard Vet to groom our German Shepherd, she is an extremely difficult dog to groom and we've had groomers and vets tell us they couldn't cut her nails at all. I took my kitten here for all of her shots and to get spayed. The staff is friendly and approachable and the whole places has a very family business feel, which I like. The staff genuinely care about everyone's pets that come in- you can tell the other patrons have been coming with their pets for years- and they know the animals by name. This place does not work by appointment, so you just show up when you want to be seen, which sometimes causes long wait times, but on the other hand it gives you flexibility to go when you have time- which worked well for me. I admit I am a vet snob....I want a vet that is dog savvy, a dog owner, and preferably a dog breeder. I also want a vet that I can talk to about issues and I expect to be heard. If a vet dismisses my questions or takes a 'know it all tone', it is over. I also want staff with similar experiences and communication. I also like reasonable prices for services and won't come back if I feel I am being gouged. I drive 45 min each way to Boulevard Veterinary because I feel they are good on both counts. Dr Nolan has freely given of her experience as an owner and breeder and the surgical experience of Dr Kagley has resulted in a great outcome for 'high risk' operations. I'm going to start off by saying that at first I had a decent experience going to this clinic. What made my review go to a one star is these two problems. One, the receptionist that I've had every single time has been rather unfriendly and snooty. She has without a doubt been nothing but rude to me despite the fact I was there four times in the month and half. She had dark hair and I'm not sure what her name was. The worst thing I thinks he did was give me the wrong papers when all I wanted was shot records. I drove twenty minutes to get those papers and she proceeded to give me all the wrong paperwork and was super rude on the phone when I called to get the right ones emailed. The second and most import thing. THIS CLINIC DOES NOT GIVE RABIE TAGS WITH THEIR SHOTS. RABIE TAGS ARE REQUIRED BY WASHINGTON STATE LAW TO BE ON ANY PET THATS IN PUBLIC ON A LEASH! I'm furious I let them do the shot because if I had known that fact my dog would not of gone there. I plea anyone who's considering this office please do not go! Your dog needs those tags to prevent any harm if they're picked up by a pound! Protect your pup and go somewhere else. read more

After my family received a littler of kittens we were able to secure a voucher on the SNAP program to defray the normal cost of their spay surgeries. Stopping by the location, the first thing that struck me was the limited hours. It took a while for the door to open although no one seemed to be doing surgery at the time (the reason their morning hours are limited). They were just walking around.. The inside of the location was dingy and didn't appear clean. The staff kind of gave me the stink eye and the associate that did help me smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. The entire impression was that it was unclean and not customer friendly. I ended up cancelling the appointment to use another vet a little further away. Too bad, as I was hoping to build a good relationship here- it would have been more convenient. read more
