I think that another thing to call out is how they handle things if something goes wrong. Recently, there was a delivery date mixup and an arrangement was delivered a day early. I called Granara's and the manager drove over himself to pick them up before my wife saw them. They delivered an even nicer arrangement the next day. I contrast this with a florist we used to deliver flowers to relatives out of state. The flowers never arrived, and the shop owner fought it, didn't help at all, and I finally had to get a credit card refund. Today I had a large, mixed arrangement delivered. Ordering something other than roses really highlights how impressive a job Granara's does. The mix of orchids and other flowers really pops - totally worth the money! Granara's delivers top quality arrangements with great service, support, and delivery. I've used others in the area and no one else comes close.

As I kept walking in, they also have a store inside with random cute things like candles, decorations, jewelry, baby clothes etc. Smelled nice and clean inside. Saw staff taking care of the outdoor plants. So I found a cute plant but when I got to the cashier to pay, I asked if she happens to know or see if they had a bigger version. To my surprise she answered with "what we have out there is what have. Have you seen a bigger a version?" Honey, I wouldn't have asked if I saw one wouldn't I? Kind of disappointed with her reply. But maybe she's new not sure what the situation is. They have plenty of succulents to choose from if you're into them. The prices for the plants were fair.

I chose the Paradise spray as the young man who had passed away really liked Hawaii. I asked the young lady that took the order whether it's large or if I pay more would it be larger and she said all the sprays are the same size and if you pay more, they would just add more flowers but the size would be the same. So, I asked her to charge me more for more flowers $300 and go from there. Told her it's for a young man who has passed away and I want it to be special. After calling someone to make sure they can do this arrangement due to the fact that they were very busy with weddings that weekend, She assured me that it would be done and made special. She even said that they have all the flowers in-season to be able to make this spray. At he church service on Friday I was so EMBARRASSED by the arrangement. It was small and not balanced (maybe it was missing the leaves around it... not sure) but it looked terrible or maybe the florist just didn't take the time to arrange in properly. I think they should not take additional business when they cannot handle it. I know the cost of a funeral spray does not compare to the revenue they get for a wedding but this was important to me and I wanted something special for my loved one. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to take a picture because I did not want anyone associating those flowers with me. After calling the store, a couple of people (Regina and then Mark) called me back and just apologized; At first offering to refund me 50% but then rescinding that offer. Their messages mentioned that I was charged appropriately for the arrangement and they would contact me but I never heard back after leaving my review. There should be better training of their staff when a customer orders so they do not give the wrong information about the size of an arrangement and also, not take on additional business when they cannot handle it. Think twice about ordering a one-off arrangement from here; their focus is only on big-ticket revenue from weddings.

I've not ordered flowers in years, typically opting for donations. In this case, flowers were the right choice. So not having ordered a floral arrangement in ages, I had a bit of sticker shock. However, when I see the arrangement it was gorgeous and absolutely perfect and totally worth it. San Mateo Florist staff asked me the name and time for the funeral, but having known many cases of flowers arriving after a service, I stressed a time that was an hour prior. I got there a 1/2 hour before the ceremony and the flowers were there and the family was grateful. I really felt my arrangement was the prettiest one of there. I so appreciated that they delivered as promised and the arrangement looked like the online picture. I opted to call in my order, as I simply prefer that 1:1 conversation and have better luck. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture but I think the name of the arrangement is Walking with You - yellows and blue.
