The school is meant for graduate students that offer programs such as optometry, physician assistant, occupational therapy, audiology, speech-language pathology, public health and biomedicine. The school is old but has made some major renovations along the years. I've talked to students and asked how they felt about the school and they said its an alright school. Some of the professors are nice and helpful but their can be some improvements to the school system. I would say this is an okay environment for graduate students.

One of Philly's many hidden gems!…read more After googling events happening this weekend I saw an exhibit for Rashaad Newsome - "To Be Real" was on display at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center... I'm always looking for something new, interesting and mentally stimulating so decided to check it out and was impressed. Let me start by saying this space is beautiful! My niece and I were greeted upon entering and were given a brief overview of the exhibit. The exhibit itself was rich in color and concept and very unique. There was no admission to see the exhibit but donations are welcome (tip: DONATE!) - donation is not mandatory but I'm a firm believer that arts and culture help expand and enrich our experiences and are also great for conversation. In addition to seeing the feature exhibit, there was a hallway with more art, which lead to another space with another exhibit "Fluid Women" (I think) was the name; this exhibit was captivating also. I had a wonderful experience visiting PPAC and will definitely return! I also recommend if you have an interest in visual arts and are looking for something unique. The space was quiet and it is not large but has a lot to offer.

This place is excellent. I'm an amateur photographer and I have come here for multiple workshops…read morebecause the education, the teachers, and the facilities are excellent. In terms of those workshops you can find them for about $30 on Groupon or LivingSocial and the classes are intimate enough with about seven people or less that you really can get the individual attention that really makes for an excellent experience. In fact you will get that personal attention because the teacher incorporates each student and politely requests that they offer their work for light critique. There are opportunities in every class for you to go outside and practice what you just learned by shooting on the surrounding streets. My only criticism regarding the workshops is that they are not as frequent as I would like as my weekend work schedule conflicts often times with their classes. This next section is about the print center and I've had nothing but a phenomenal experience there. I was completely new to Printing and Keith the master printer who runs the lab made an appointment and sat with me for about an hour to basically guide me through the entire process, give his suggestions, and work Photoshop to get the photos exactly as I want them. He has a profound amount of experience that he draws from and is completely understanding that I am a brand new printer. He even gave me recommendations for where to get my photos framed and was just a brilliant lead in the entire process of printing my photographs. I'll definitely come back and I will recommend it to you because they do have excellent facilities, friendly workers, and a wealth of experience. The actual building itself is quite large and I believe it's shared with some other organizations. Philadelphia photo Arts Center does have a classroom or two and a nice gallery to present whatever work they choose. Getting here is very convenient as I take the subway from Center City and walk about 10 minutes. If you were to drive there's plenty of parking and it does not seem packed the numerous times I've been there.

Manor college in my eyes was very warm welcoming and the environment was very peaceful. Some key parts I loved were there were only 3 buildings compared to 8-9 buildings like other colleges. Another key point was how religious and family oriented it was. Manor is very serious when it comes to not only their students but also their religion and even the Baby Blues. Next was parking. As a transfer student, I had to pay for parking and even a parking pass; not at Manor you don't, it's free. Lastly the tuition for everything was $26,000 and that includes dorm, meal plan and books!!!

This junior college is a terrible first experience and i would not recommend it to anyone, I stayed…read morein the dormitory for my first semester of my freshman year and did not want to continue anymore. The dorms are filled with roaches and stink bugs, there is no air conditioning in the building, the walls are paper thin, and the lack of action done from the assistant director of residence life is disgusting. The microwave in my dorm was broken for 2 months and was not fixed, there are students that moved into the dorms and immediately saw hundreds of roaches. The only solution she had was to exterminate the room and not switch there dorms even though there were other dorm rooms available. The girls bathroom is disgusting, Pads and Tampons left in the disposable bag holder. The entire hallway stinks due to the trash chute being full all the time, and there was an incident where someone threw human feces down the chute and no one was disciplined. The internet in the dormitory is terrible and the only solution they can give is going to the library that closes at 8 PM every weekday and it isn't open on weekends. The washer and dryers are extremely slow and they charge you every single cycle, most times it takes around 3-4 dry cycles to actually dry your clothes. I would not recommend this college to anyone, It is not worth the money or the time.

I don't consider myself a very religious person, rather more spiritual in general. I did grow up…read moreattending Hebrew school, a Jewish nursery school and had a Bat-Mitzvah. I did continue on to confirmation and have visited Israel. I grew up celebrating only the more popular Jewish holidays. My family didn't observe Shabbat or keep kosher at all, but my faith was something I took pride in. It was definitely a part of my identity and will forever remain so. I knew I wanted this for my children one day but day school was honestly never something I never in a million years thought of when thinking of where our children would go to school especially because my husband isn't even Jewish! (I mention our background because if you too aren't "sooooo Jewish" or are of a interfaith marriage, don't shy away from this magical place that is our children's school. There are people from all sorts of backgrounds here!) It all stared when the littles were attending the preschool next door. I was asked by a Mommy friend to take a tour of Perelman and I actually cried on my tour. It was such a welcoming, safe space. Their method and take on education was so incredibly refreshing. When I was in grade school at a Philadelphia public school, the "mentally gifted" children would get taken out of class and get to go on special trips and learn really fun things us "regular children" didn't. We even had to take their notes for them while they we off getting special treatment. I remember this being very damaging as a young child trying to find my way. I felt less than, and it was awful. At Perelman there is no such thing. Everyone works at their own pace in every subject. The class is separated in to smaller groups where they can work beside others at their same level. The children don't know who the "gifted" or more advance students are. And they're not falling behind either. Customized attention is given to each and every student. They have so many unique ways of teaching and grading isn't your standard A,B,C etc. Its proficient, above grade level, meets requirements etc. I personally love this and think it's more encouraging and less pressure on the kids! They do however hold the students at Perelman to a higher level than what is required nationwide! There is very little homework given. At Perelman they recognize that tends to fall more on the parents. They believe the children's days are so concentrated there shouldn't be much left to do at night. They value family time. Sure reading every night, a few weekly assignments and a fun computer program called IXL, but no, no hours upon hours of HW! The staff is absolutely incredible here! INCREDIBLE! From Mona in the office who is always just an email or quick phone call away, to the smiling security guards, to Chagit, the principal who lets the children call her by her first name and whom I interact with every single day while dropping the kiddos off, to Judy the head of school and Amy in admissions. The Rabbi is amazing and makes learning so fun! He even has a YouTube channel and sends out trivia every Tuesday. The gym teacher encourages all children to try and makes everything into a game. They don't even feel like they are being graded. The kids LOVE him! He even hosts after school birthday parties! The teachers are all so amazing also. Like second moms to our children. They care. I mean, they really care. They go above and beyond for the children and again are a quick email away. They use a program called Seesaw where we can see daily clips of what our kiddos did that day in school! Way cool! Every person who works in this building knows our children by their first name. It's truly a thing of beauty! The children have Jewish studies half of the day. The children speak two languages! I only wish that was offered so young to my generation. I mean, why wait until middle school? Kids are sponges. I drive approximately 5 hours daily to take my children to school here. I mention this not to scare anyone who doesn't live close by, but rather to show just how much we love it and think this is THE best place for our girls that we will do anything to send them here. I don't play the charter school game and we really didn't want to move to the burbs. We really believe we have the best of both worlds, the city life and culture we adore and the top notch education. That's a combo very hard to come by. Again, don't shy away if you're a city fam. You DO NOT need to move from this fab city you love. There's a bus I am actually on the list for leaving from East Falls for Sept 17 and the more families that need busing, the more options there will be for us! I could go on and on for hours about what makes this school so incredibly special. I didn't even dip into holidays, special programs, specialty teachers, choir, after school art, cooking, music and Girl Scouts. Take a tour and see for yourself. Tell them I sent you. You will fall in love! We are SO in love! So are the children!
