Update - 2 weeks later: 3 of my nails are green with what looks like a fungus. This salon is DIRTY. Beware I've gone here a handful of times over the years. While Olivia is very warm and inviting to her customers and I had a great pedicure, I was very disappointed with my manicure. If you want powder gel, do not come here. They have a strong preference for regular gel and do not specialize in making powder look good. I don't believe the nail tech that did my powder manicure was licensed. She cut me badly on my thumb while working on my cuticles and I had to ask her more than once for bacitracin. Instead she just put cuticle oil on it and I had to later ask Olivia for that bacitracin. The nail tech used a tissue to blot the blood coming from my cut which was a lot and she then used that same bloody tissue to wipe the clear nail polish brush she was using on my nails. She also still dipped my finger in the powder. Super unsanitary and I told her I was concerned about getting an infection and she scoffed at me. Back to the powder gel - I asked her to only do 2 coats since powder does look really thick when you get 3. She argued with me "we do 3 coats here, I will file it down." She did not file it down - she did not even touch the drill and instead used a buffer. Needless to say the nails look caked on and raised. I have gotten powder gel many times since 2016 from different salons and the reason I prefer it is because you don't need the UV lamp to set it. At the end, she put a shellac top coat and made me put my hands in the UV lamp. When I told her I don't usually have to this when I get powder, she again argued with me, tried to insinuate I didn't know what I was talking about, and told me my nails are thin so I guess that makes my word invalid to her. But Ive been to a lot of salons since 2016 and not one of them use the UV lamp for powder. At the end, I hated my nails and told Olivia I bled so she got me the bacitracin and gave me a $5 coupon. I expressed how unhappy I was and she took no money off and wouldn't let me speak to my nail tech again. I told her I wanted it to redone and Olivia refused to take my info or make an appointment - I told her I was concerned she wouldn't remember me and she just said she would. My nail tech offered to fix it then and there but I did not want her touching me again after not listening to me at all. My mom told she's had issues with the same tech before and has witnessed her arguing with others in the past. I did not catch her name Based on how unsanitary, unprofessional and how poor at powder gel they are, I would not return to this salon. Their strengths are regular gel and pedicures. Beware of the unsanitary practices however. Unfortunately hard to see how raised my nails are in the photo. I ended up not going back but just won't be coming back to this salon read more

So after not having any personal grooming, (hair nails etc) for the last few months. And getting married in a week. I was going a bit batty. Colored my own hair, no biggie. But the nails were a different story. After searching online I was finally able to locate a salon that was open within 20 miles of me in Spring Valley NY. Blooming Nails is amazing. From the moment I called about availability, Olivia was kind courteous and welcoming. Made us a mani/pedi appointment for an hour later, (5:15). They close at 6:30. When I got there she told me they wouldn't have time to do tips, but could do a regular or gel manicure. My nails were short and jacked up. :( I explained that I was getting married next week and this was the only available time I had to get my nails done beforehand. She told me to hold on a moment. Came right back and told me that the tip expert would stay late for me Thank you Lauren for staying late for me and the amazing job and color recommendation. Also thank you to Lisa and the other young ladies that did my fiance's mani and pedi and my pedicure If you have a ride and can get there I highly recommend them. :) They have plexiglass partitions and everyone was wearing masks We'll be back. read more

This is such a relaxing atmosphere. The establishment truly took the customers needs into consideration. Very few nail salons still offer the complimentary back and neck massage as your nails dry, and they took it a step further with the media stand for magazines or your tablet to be propped up while they go to work on your nails. Sometimes it's just plain awkward when the manicurist is doing your nails and there is no conversation to be had and you don't have the slightest interest in whatever is on the TV - or if you're like me, you squint so much to read the subtitles that you succeed in getting a tension headache. Alex did my a superb job on my UV gel manicure. The place has top notch equipment. I especially loved the UV gloves because your hands eventually get darker than the rest of your body if you are a slave to the UV like myself. The staff is very professional and I would definitely recommend this establishment to men and women alike. I got a quick massage but from what I experienced they have the magic fingers that will have you check your tension at the door upon your exit. I'm definitely pleased! read more

When I first found Blooming Nails & Spa, I thought I found a new place to go. I was so wrong. They are unsanitary, rude and try to create their own tips. I have never felt more uncomfortable getting my nails done at a salon. It started with the length of my nails. I was getting a full-set, and when my nail technician went to cut my nails I said that I wanted longer. She then proceeded to loudly explain why I "cannot have long nails" and even started talking about it to who I think is the manager. She did not want to cut them, and kept telling me I was wrong. I understand to have an opinion, but this is the length I always get and I don't want to have a dispute about it in front of the salon. That definitely is not the way to go when providing a service. I also noticed her at one point clean her own hands and under her nails with the scrub brush and then try to clean mine before I stopped her. It is incredibly unsanitary, and I have never been in a nail salon that the nail technician cleans THEIR OWN HANDS AND NAILS then cleans yours with the same tool. It is different if they dust off both your hands and theirs before moving on, but to be scrubbing under your nails then try to do mine. No. Lastly, I was not happy with my service and I felt very uncomfortable the entire time but I still was going to tip. I had my cash for the tip in my hand along with my wallet as they charged my card. The manager reached into my hand as I was trying to sign my receipt and was trying to pry away my cash by pulling on my cash. I would never pull money out of a customer's hands. That was the final straw. My nails also broke the next week, and I didn't bother even going back to them. At the surface they look clean, but as you get your actual service done they truly are not sanitary at all. I don't trust how clean their work is, and I don't feel comfortable getting my nails done here. read more

I got a pedicure and had the wrong kind of pants on that wouldn't roll up, so she gave me a skirt to wear so I could fully enjoy the pedi. Nails & toes always come our flawless. I have recently moved from NYC to Chestnut Ridge and was pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful nail salon. The service and quality of work was great. I called one hour before to get two appointments on a Saturday late afternoon and they said "no problem come in"! We showed up a little late and even though it was busy, they were fully staffed and took us right away. I got a regular pedi and gel mani. In all the years in NYC of getting my nails done bimonthly, I haven't experienced quite the detail and care they showed in painting nails. Ester was wonderful. She did the gel mani. I will request her in the future. The perfect balance of friendly and allowing me to unwind and relax. Betty did my pedi and it was equally as wonderful with a beautiful nail finish. I highly recommend this place. Prices are reasonable and quality of work worth the extended period of time it took to get mani pedi in comparison to NYC's 1 hour gel mani pedi. read more

Ohhhh Blooming.... and Olivia of course! I don't think it is possible to write a review about this nail salon without mentioning everyone's girlfriend/auntie/store owner Olivia. I first began my relationship with Blooming Nails about 2 years ago. I was referred by a girlfriend of mine after a few terrible experiences in and around Rockland County. So I decided to give them a go. The location is very easy to find and parking is always available, unless there is a parade/festival going on... then stay home. Everyone who works there is pretty nice, but Olivia certainly runs the show in terms of greeting, cashier, waxes, and occasional pedicure... They are very clean, attentive, and reasonably priced. The goal is to get you in and out and they do a wonderful job with that. In terms of mani and pedis they do a good job cleaning, shaping, and making your service last for 2 weeks. I do occasional gel manicures mostly before going on vacation or special occasion. I have had one not so positive experience at Blooming. While getting a gel manicure before a wedding, I had a very impatient/inexperienced woman do my gel manicure. (Sidebar: she had no business working with gel being that she complained the entire time about my nail beds being too long for gel...?) Literally two days later my whole thumb nail lifted and on that same hand my index finger chipped. I called, and Olivia told me to come in and they would fix it. I arrived and immediately walked over to my new best friend Jenny (my friend sees he religiously for her gel sets) who snatched my entire soul. She apologized deeply for her colleagues work and redid the entire set, changed the color and all, free of charge! THAT JENNY I TELL YOU!!!! Eh blah experience here. The person doing my nails was like in super rush mode like there were a line of people waiting to be serviced. She wasn't the nicest person either no smile no nothing. However that is not even the main reason why I probably Wouldn't return here. Excellent!! It had been a long time since I got my nails done and I was used to going to a world famous manicurist in NYC. I would still love to go to Manhattan or her other shop in The Bronx again to get my nails done since she specializes in things that not many nail techs know how to do and my nails looked phenomenal and unique unlike how others' nails looked. But since I live in Rockland and needed to find a place that was closer whenever I didn't have time or money to travel to the city, I decided to try this place out since it was local and also had 5 stars along with reviews that made it sound fabulous. I called ahead to see if walk-ins were welcome or if I needed an appointment first before coming in. I spoke to Esther who was very friendly and said no appointment would be necessary and gave me prices for all the possible services I might need based on what I wanted done and how I wanted my nails to look. So I decided to stop in for a French Gel Manicure and I was immediately greeted by Olivia who was very welcoming and accommodating and after talking to Esther who was free, Olivia brought me over to her station where she, Esther and I consulted over what I wanted in the same manner as they do in a high end hair or nail salon. Esther is a very skilled nail technician with great attention to detail who really made sure my nails were taken care of the way they needed to be and since perfection is my rule with my nails, it was great how she took her time with it so I would have the perfect French and my nails looked flawless. Towards the end of the service Esther got up and gave me a massage and put cream on my hands. Finally as a first time customer, they gave me a card where they put the date I came in and for each nail service every time you go in and show them the card and after 10 visits you get a free massage. When we moved to NJ last year from NYC I found this spot and loved it. The owner, olivia was always friendly, making sure her clients were satisfied. Within a year, service is worse every time I go. I have recently had to ask for a new, clean file (some of them re use the same file for every client). I was ok with this because they were close by, quick and affordable and always friendly. This morning I arrived at 10 for a mani/pedi and was told 5-10 minute wait. About 10 min later (while I was still waiting)a party of four women arrived. Olivia asked if they had an appointment and they said no. They were asked to pick a color and 2 of them were immediately brought to pedicure chairs. Two of the manicurists pointed out that I was next. I looked at Olivia who pointed to a manicure seat and told me I was next"mani first". Another 20 min go by and still nothing and the other two ladies are taken back to pedicure chairs. I get up to leave as I have now wasted 30 minutes waiting and Olivia proceeds to block the door, push me back towards a chair and apologize. I asked her not to push me and left. Clearly this place does not value their regular clients. I will not be back. read more

Update: second time back and this experience is even better than the first. I'm actually sitting in the pedicure chair as we speak blown away. I called for an appointment when they opened at 9:30 and they got me in for when I requested at 10:30. I have never had such an amazing pedicure, selfishly I almost don't want to review this because I'd like to keep it as secret as possible so I'm always able to get in! Haha they use pure coconut oil for the foot massages-- right up my alley and so good for your skin!
