I have a green thumb and have another Orchid in my home that has been with us for over 5 years. She had told us that if someone else approached her for the same date, she would let us know there was competition, so we could reserve with a deposit. Instead of offering advanced notice, she simply told us she was not available when we said we were ready to pin down the agreement. And it wasn't like we had our consultation and we disappeared. We were emailing every few days to work out budget and concept. At any point, she could have let us know that either she'd prefer to fix a deposit and then finalize concept, or that there was competition for the date. Normally, I wouldn't assume the date was held for me, but she set that expectation at our first meeting. I do appreciate that, as a small business owner, she can't always afford to wait. My only wish would have been for the communication to be clearer.

Our venue was very tight with the allowed set up time, so Victoria showed up early to make sure that she could get everything done in time - and she did. It all turned out so perfect.
