Oxford Driving School was able to fit me in for a same-week lesson despite my full-time work schedule, and the booking process was very smooth. I especially wanted to give my instructor, Chie, a shout-out. She was sweet, kind, encouraging, and very attentive to safety throughout our drive. She gave me clear, honest feedback about what I still needed to improve, particularly with parking, lane changes, speed, and traffic checks, while explaining corrections in a way that was constructive. I also appreciated that she struck a good balance between instruction and independence. She kept a close eye on what I was doing and stepped in when appropriate, but she also gave me opportunities to practice judging traffic gaps and making driving decisions for myself. She was sincerely invested in helping me understand how to reverse and park correctly rather than simply getting through the lesson. And somehow, she was in a great mood on a Saturday morning before 10 AM! As someone who is definitely not a morning person, I consider that a colossal feat. I called this driving school on Monday to schedule a class for 2 hours behind the wheel. I have…read moretaken 6 hrs of classes in a rural area, but never driven in LA before, so I wanted to book a class here. The lady who answered the phone was very nice and helped me with finding a class the same week. On the day of the scheduled class, Luis was prompt and courteous. He arrived on time, and after showing him my permit and ID, we went over some basics such as lane change, checking blind spots, and how to turn the steering wheel. He personally got out of the vehicle to show me exactly where I needed to check, and had me practice a couple times. After that we were on the road. I felt like I got so much of out this class!! It's amazing what we did in the span of two hours. We practiced lane change, backing up, stop signs, and making left/right turns. We then went inside of Santa Monica DMV to practice making left/right turns and also parking in a diagonal space. After, we spent a good chunk of time driving around the DMV to familiarize myself with the area and to get more practice. We ended the class driving back to my apartment, and went over a quick summary of the class. Luis is such a pleasant & sweet instructor and I can tell he genuinely loves teaching. I had such an amazing time getting a single lesson from Luis.
