This is one of the cutest restaurants I've been to in NJ! The aesthetic was super cute, and I went early on a Saturday morning, so there was no wait. The service was friendly, and the food was really good! I ordered the chicken and waffles with eggs and home fries, and everything tasted great. The only issue I had was with the ketchup bottle. I was sitting by the window, and I guess since the bottle had been sitting in the sun, it may have spoiled. When I opened it, it exploded and got ketchup everywhere. The ambiance was charming and inviting. Although the space was slightly small inside, the wall décor was stylish and added to the restaurant's character. The pancakes were definitely the highlight of the meal. We ordered the sampler sizes of the Tres Leches, Fruity Pebbles, and Banana Pudding pancakes. Out of the three, the Fruity Pebbles pancakes were by far the best, flavorful, fun, and wellbalanced. The Tres Leches pancakes, while good in concept, were overwhelmingly sweet. The Banana Pudding pancakes, however, were enjoyable and had a nice balance of flavor. For savory dishes, the Crab Cake Benedict was excellent and full of flavor. Unfortunately, the Chicken & Waffles Benedict did not meet expectations. The chicken lacked seasoning and crispiness, making the dish taste bland overall. I was not a fan of that particular entrée. On the other hand, the regular Chicken & Waffles dish was much better and came with three wings coated in a tasty hot honey sauce. The service and hospitality, however, left a lot to be desired. Although our waiter was kind , the timing of food was lacking. Also they did forget to give us utensils and we had to ask when one of the dishes arrived (because they didn't all arrive at the same time ) . Our table of four initially received only three drinks, leaving one person waiting an additional five minutes for theirs. The food was brought out one dish at a time rather than together, which disrupted the dining experience. The last dish to arrive, the Chicken & Waffles and Eggs Benedict ,came out so late that the rest of the table had already nearly finished eating. There were too many options to go with for the pancakes, but made perfect for me was the mini pancake flight option. My flight consisted of fruity pebble pancakes, cinnamon toast pancakes and blueberry lemon pancakes. A clear depiction of women never know what they want LOL. Three stars are for the ambiance and the appetizers. GEMS The cheeseburger egg rolls and mini pancake flight I loved. I tried the tres leches, fruity pebbles, and cookies and cream. Our favorite was the tres leches pancakes. They are to die for. I would come back just for that but probably to go. AMBIANCE It was really cute and bright in the restaurant had a really nice aesthetic and even though the tables were pretty close somehow I didn't feel crammed. Unlike normal brunches the music is very low. So it gives more of a cafe vibe. SERVICE The service was terrible for me. We were constantly looking for our server and the place is small so most of the time he would be on the floor but tucked in the service area. He never checked on us after we ordered. They cleared our silverware after our appetizer and never replaced it. We were missing utensils napkins, etc and we had to flag people down and even that was difficult it seems like the staff has tunnel vision. Our experience was much long then it needed to be because me and my friend were waiting for so long. The highlight is that the staff was pretty efficient to clean off the used plates from our tiny table which I appreciated. FOOD As stated the appetizers were delicious. Once our entrees came we were highly disappointed. The entrees had a completely different quality than the appetizers. I have a love for French toast many different kinds but this fell flat to me. The service was ok couple of things they offer byob but a $15 cork fee makes no sense to me however not my restaurant. I actually go to many byob establishments and never a cork fee. We ordered the passion fruit virgin mojito it was good however drinks and water came out about 20 mins I want to say after ordering and had to ask hostess for that. I think it's a hit or miss thing. The chicken and waffles was very good because the chicken was well seasoned. Choosing to use chicken wings definitely gives for a different experience but feels like less food is being offered compared to tenders. My fiancée ordered the Philly omelette and it just lacked seasoning and cheese. It really tasted like they didn't care about the omelette. The service was friendly and prompt. I recently visited Blossm Brunch and had a mixed experience. The food was actually really good, flavorful, well-presented, and definitely the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the service didn't match. The staff came across as unprofessional and a bit disorganized, which took away from the overall experience. One thing to note: if you're coming with a group, be careful. They automatically put everything on one ticket, even when we specifically asked for separate checks. That made things unnecessarily complicated at the end of the meal. While it had a great fry on it, it didn't taste like anything. Nothing hot nor honey. It was merely a sticky wing with no flavor and a good crisp. As for my main pictured was the original style waffle and a side of catfish and that did NOT disappoint! Blossoms have been on my radar since I first saw them on Instagram. Being that it's Black and Woman owned, I couldn't let this month end without visiting. Situated on a corner, there is ample residential parking on the street. When I first walked in the r&b music caught my ear. It was packed inside and when I told the host it would be for 2 and asked how long the wait, he said no wait. He asked me to follow him outside and we walked next door to their other extension of the restaurant. It was smaller and even though music was playing, I didn't feel the same vibe. I asked if we could be seated in the main area and he said of course, but it it would be a little wait. As I waited in a chair by the door, more people were coming in and were told about a wait. It did catch my attention that he didn't direct anyone else to their other area to dine at. Less than 10 minutes passed and I got a text our table was ready. I was seated and my friend arrived shortly after. The service throughout was prompt and attentive. Our server even kept joking with my friend about her being late and me waiting since 7 am lol. We both ordered their mojito (they only have virgin drinks), one mango and one strawberry. I thought the mango was delicious and fresh tasting, and she enjoyed hers. I ordered the strawberry shortbread french toast with a side of catfish. Talk about layers of color! The French Toast seemed a mile high, covered with shortcake crumble, strawberries, strawberry cream, powdered sugar, and whipped cream. It was presented and cooked amazingly, never becoming too soggy from the additions. The catfish was out of this world. The seasoning and crispness were spot on. Decided to give Blossoms a try on a Sunday after church (around 11am). We called to see if there was a wait (no reservations accepted) and were surprised that there wasn't. We arrived less than 10 minutes later only to be told there was a 30 minute wait by the same person that answered the phone. We waited in the car, but the wait was only 18 minutes. Seating is close, so we were able to chat with another table that happened to be alumni. Like most restaurants, the menu is available by QR code. I opted for the Breakfast on Monroe, which allowed for a Turkey bacon and grits option. I was able to add cheese to both the eggs and grits. I've dined at Blossoms for a special occasion and had the skillet lobster mac. I ordered take out on a separate occasion and had the avocado toast and brussel sprouts. On all of the occasions the food was fair, but the atmosphere is what keeps me coming back. read more

I'm a former NJ girl and was visiting family in Carteret for the weekend. When trying to meetup with some girlfriends for brunch last Sunday, one of my friends did a google search for nearby brunch spots and Blossoms popped up. We figured we would give it a try since the menu looked great. Note-the website says cash only, but they do accept credit cards now. Please update the website to avoid future confusion. We found a parking spot just around the block on a residential street that allows parking. We were afraid we might have a long wait because they don't take reservations and it was a Sunday at 11:30 am. However, we lucked out and our party of 3 was seated right away. I did hear a few parties of 2 had a 10-15 minute wait. Upon being seated, our server, Sebastian, immediately came over to get us waters and take a beverage order. One friend got coffee and another got a hot tea-but there was a fun looking mocktail mojito in the menu. We decided to share 3 brunch items. The flight of pancakes, because we felt like it was designed for us with 3 pancakes. We each got to choose a pancake for the flight. The Tres Leches came with strawberries and a delicious caramel sauce and cream, the lemon blueberry was deliciously loaded with blueberries and a slight tang of the lemon to bring out the blueberry flavor and the caramel banana pecan, which was loaded with bananas, and pecans and offset with that delicious caramel sauce which was like a dulce leches sauce. All three were out of this world and we each had a tough time deciding which was our favorite. We also split the shrimp and grits, which came with 6 good size shrimp-again seeming like it was designed just for us so we could each have 2 shrimp. And finally the chicken and waffle, and again-3 chicken wings stacked atop a fluffy waffle! We made 3 excellent choices! Sebastian was wonderful in getting us new plates and bowls so that we could easily share everything. Upon leaving, we took a fun photo in front of their Instagram worthy wall and had an oh so friendly host, or perhaps the owner....jump into our photo. He made us laugh and it made for a great photo. This is a 7 days a week brunch spot and by reading others reviews, there can be a wait depending on the time you arrive on the weekend. During the week it's not bad! One thing I was eyeing was their rasta pasta topped with salmon, so good! You know I ordered it, haha! For drinks, they do serve mimosas and everything else are mocktails, coffee, etc. They have a good amount of items on the menu including a mini pancake flight, shrimp and gritz, lobster mac & cheese and the list goes on. The ambiance is cute and girly, perfect for photos so make sure you sit in front of the flower wall or grass wall. We waited for about an hr and 45, and what made me a little annoyed was that some seats went without being filled for a long period of time. I also believe they should take reservations to avoid all the chaos. When we finally sat Sébastien was our server, and he was actually great and very pleasant. They did serve mimosas, so I started with that. For my meal I got the salmon cakes and grits. My friend got the hot chocolate and the egg rolls and the wings. The food looked good when it came out. When I dug in, I was not a fan of the salmon cakes and grits. I didn't eat it all. My friend didn't enjoy the egg roll, but she said the wings were good. The bill wasn't bad. The sauce on the side made the eggrolls taste like heaven. To make it a 10 I just needed more sauce. Peach cobbler French toast: 10/10. I'm not even a big French toast person but once I saw "peach cobbler" I had to try. And this indeed tasted like a peach cobbler omg it was delicious. Southern Fried Chicken & Waffles is a dish that is EASY to mess up, but gladly they did not. Very well prepared. The waffle was light & fluffy, again my preference is for crispy, but that is MY preference. The Hot Honey wings that come with it, *Chefs Kiss* perfection.
