Nettie's was a delightful restaurant. It's cute and the staff was kind. Plus the food was VERY delicious. My sister and I were in town and needed to find something to eat and discovered Nettie's. This was really good soul food. I ordered the chicken and waffle and it was PERFECTION. The chicken was seasoned great. The waffle was nice and fresh. My sister ordered The salmon croquettes which were tasty along with the grits. Maya was our server and she was really kind. It is a small restaurant but ample seats. Came here on a Saturday evening, dined in for dinner. We got 2 lemonades, the chicken sandwich, salmon with mac and yams, and banana pudding. Everything was good. We'll be back!!! Is how we saluted the warm, kind, and accommodating staff at Nettie's as we were leaving. My husband and I are always on the search for good breakfast spots in NJ, today we found a gem and it's close by. Today we came in with the kids, and nothing was left on the plates. My son & I had the chicken & waffles, you cannot miss with that. It was fresh & perfectly made. My eldest had the honey chicken biscuit which he thoroughly enjoyed. My husband had Nettie's big breakfast and he said "it was on point." There was nostalgic R&B music playing which was just the right touch. What can improve? The service, accountability, Tina's attitude. The menu was wrong and said the wing dinner came with 8. We got it for our two young kids to split so we let them know it was wrong. When we told the server we only got 6 she said "it was new menus and it was an error." "They not going to make any more." Asked to speak to the manager she said "I just spoke to them and it's only supposed to come with 6". Told her that response was crazy and she could take it off at this point. She said she "can't it's already made". The manager finally came out and was RUDE AF! Her demeanor was rude she didn't apologize for the error she said "it was a new menu and that it was human error." I told her that I understand but correct the menu for the next customer this shouldn't be on us. Told her what her server said to us and that's not how you operate and she should have came outside and not passing messages though her server. She was so pissed that I told her she should've came outside started raising her voice and telling me that "I'm talking out of pocket. She was on the phone with a customer and that her server never spoke to her!" I was the bigger person and apologized for assuming that her server spoke to her and telling her she should have come outside. She apologizes for what her server said. You would think that would be the end.. and they would right the wrong. My husband started saying just bring the check then she start saying "yall doing all of this for 2 wings... I was about to say something positive if you would let me speak." Meanwhile she's raising her voice and talking over me the whole time. I couldn't get a word in. My husband interjects tells her she she speaking over me she continues to say I'm talking out of pocket and "what do you want from me blood? It's 2 wings.."Absolutely disgusted. I came there once before and had no issues outside it being hot AF in there. I was happy to bring my family there. NEVER AGAIN. Speaking that way to a customer, my kids and baby there. unfortunately my experience was not a good one! let me say I tried to call the establishment back 12x. I ordered food from here bcuz I wanted to try a closer spot to home. I spent a little over $60 I get there the food is not prepared. Then one item that IS ON THE WEBSITE that I was charged for was unavailable for whatever reason so I have to wait for @doordash" to refund me. my entrees were catfish dinner. The meal came with ONE SMALL PIECE OF FISH! I thought it was a joke at first! All 3 trays had on piece of catfish that was split in half and they were smaller than the palm of your hands! 2 dinners same Mac n yams the next collards n rice. However one of the meals had collard greens mixed with the Mac and cheese due to using the same utensil. They use vinegar in their collards which is fine however it should not have been in the dinner tray that did not have collards which means the same utensil was used. I called back several times because I came from Edison to patronize this facility.. my family was not happy at all. And again before I left this review I called back 12x.. I went here last Saturday June 13th and I was very very upset. I started off with a pineapple flavored uptown which was fine. The waitress came over to take our food order and I decided on the stuffed salmon, Mac and cheese and collard greens. The Mac and cheese was good, the stuffed salmon was edible but let's talk about the collard greens...... they were so salty that I couldn't consume them. So when the waitress came to ask was everything ok I informed her that my Collard greens were extremely salty and when I asked her could i change them for another vegetable I was extremely surprised by the flat out no. She proceeded to say that I had then on my plate already or something to the sort and I have never been told something like that at a place of business if I was dissatisfied with something. When I tell you that I only took one spoonful thats all I could consume. I can see if I had done something trifling and ate half or damn near all of the greens and then say I didnt like them but that wasn't the case here. The way that my concerned was completely disregarded showed me that they didn't care about me as a customer. The waitress continued to tell us about upcoming events but at that point I had mentally checked out. I wanted to love this place but sorry I will not be returning. Be accountable for how your staff responds to customers who are not satisfied with the food experience and dont place the blame solely on the customer for not alerting management when they alerted a worker a worker should also be trained to respond to a customer's issue as well and not tell the customer flat out no and then proceed to tell bout upcoming events as if the customer concern wasnt important. read more

I went to the restaurant on Friday, two whiting dinners, pick-up (whiting, mac & cheese, and potato salad). I have a food sensitivity to vinegar, the potato salad/vinegar did not agree with me. Although it was fresh and creamy, please eliminate the vinegar). The staff was great. Parking was also an issue, but I parked by the storage unit area. I will be back again as everything was fresh. Incredibly impressed with Nettie's! I visited yesterday for the first time and ordered the catfish dinner for takeout. when I got home and started eating my food was still the perfect temperature. The catfish was crispy and cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese was delicious and the collard greens were seasoned well. The cornbread was nice and moist. the entire meal was so fresh and tasty!
