I had the opportunity of patronizing this lovely place today. My Bestie is a loyal customer and always gets her pumpkin spice latte. I decided to go with that and a waffle with walnut, white chocolate chips , bananas and their rolled cheese cake ice cream. By reading that I hope you can understand how tasty everything was. Went here from the Yelp Elite invite and the whole experience was awesome! First of all, the location is very accessible right by the Rahway station. Limited parking but many options a block away if you are driving. I tried two items. First is Chocolate Rolled Ice cream mixed with cookie dough. I added it with strawberry, banana and chocolate chips and nutella toppings. This was very delicious. I think the chocolate chips they use was the secret to its taste. We also tried the waffle with strawberries and nutella. Strawberries were fresh and overall 10/10. I brought the food to go so unfortunately wasn't able to take picture of the rolled ice cream. What an unexpected surprise! Was staying at the Watt Hotel down the street and popped in for breakfast. Had the smoked salmon bruschetta which was so darn good that I still think about it and wish I can go back to have it again although I'm 3000 miles away! Perfect combination of ingredients! Fresh smoked salmon served on a toasted French roll topped with a lovely homemade salsa that had just the right amount of kick. The latte was robust and delicious. Great space for those who WFH. Staff was very nice and greeted us with kindness. Food was delicious, we had some of their sandwiches and we couldn't rave enough about their hibiscus cooler 10/10. It's tailored for an experience: high retro chairs, wall couches, high tables and even a stage for I believe karaoke. After getting shaved ice and heading towards exit I stopped for a moment to look at this sophisticated glass machine. It turns out to be a NITRO freshly brewed coffee! The service was gentle and welcoming, and the decor stylish, yet the bustling, almost intrusive atmosphere seemed misplaced for a spot branded as a creamery cafe. It's all hand rolled for you with whipped cream and toppings included. Our favorites are the Tiramisu and The Remedy. Prices are between $6-8 depending on the size you get. They have a great coffee selection and delicious teas. I love the Happy Tea as an iced tea, but the Green Pomegranate, Breathe, and Moroccan Mint are just as delicious. It's also super easy to order on-the-go. You can place your order through Yelp, Seamless, GrubHub, etc. The wait is usually 20 minutes or so. The staff is always super friendly and recognizes you (if you go as often as I do!) which is really nice. Definitely my go-to for coffee, tea, and ice cream. read more

My friend and I came in on a Friday morning, and got a lavender latte and everything bagel. The two people taking my order were so sweet! The lavender latte wasn't too sweet, and had the perfect amount of coffee. The everything bagel was well toasted and warm. Melao Cafe is a warm neighborhood Cafe with decent lunch and sandwich offerings, good coffee, comfy seating, and rolled icecream sundaes. The coffee here is strong, which is a lovely surprise. To note, some specialty drinks taste overly sweet for me and others who ice shared drinks with. So far I've had the iced caramel latte, iced frappe, and iced mocha. The interior is modest with tables and chairs plus a couch for seating as a large mural drapes the main wall. For meals, the turkey pesto panini and the roast beef and cheese panini were just okay and decent, nothing memorable but good on the go. Customer service is kind with seemingly mostly women of Color staff who are efficient and warm. I love that they carry Balthazar Bakery baked goods which shows some good taste to add to the community appeal of the cafe. Overall, good place to read or study, meet a friend, etc. in Rahway and they're open in the evenings until 9pm. read more
