When I need something done right or fixed, I go to Blow now. Each time I've had a different stylist and each stylist has done an excellent job. My first visit here was to perm my straight hair to some beach wavy hair and I was so impressed by the work, the customer service, and the luxuriousness of the atmosphere. Brandy did my perm and she was hilarious the entire half day I spent there! My second visit was to get my hair blown out and styled for my college graduation and it was exactly the R&R I needed to treat myself to after four long years of college. I don't usually pay to get my hair styled but I don't regret the money I spent on it. My third visit was to my hair fixed after my mom attempted to chop some of the damaged permed hair off. Jolean layered it and it's the best layering job I've ever had done on my hair! I can tell that Blow is a salon that is dedicated to excellence because no matter who I get to do my hair, I end up loving it! The prices are also quite reasonable. The decor/vibe itself is a modern-industrial look and I just love seeing a place so hip in Greensboro of all places. I hope they receive and maintain a large customer base because they truly deserve to stay in business. Lastly, I would say the only downside to Blow is that they have a pretty unconventional tipping system. You either have to know to bring cash or you Venmo your stylist with him/her right there. Of course I fully anticipate on leaving a good tip if I'm happy with the service but as a former waitress, I always have preferred to not be present when I'm getting tipped and I still feel the same with the roles reversed. Also, I don't usually carry cash but luckily I'm a millennial with a Venmo account. But what if someone had neither? Would the stylist just be left without a tip? That would be awful! read more

I've been getting tape-in extensions for 12 years, have worked with many stylists, and tried countless hair brands. After moving to NC from Los Angeles, I had the most unprofessional and inhumane experience ever at this salon, leaving me stuck with extensions I dislike and $1,000 poorer. Lindsey, a young stylist in training, installed my extensions. She had previously done my hair under supervision with great results, so I trusted her again. I paid $906 for 24" Hot Heads in medium brown (#3), which had always matched my hair perfectly. However, when the hair arrived, it looked much darker. I asked if she was sure it was the correct color, and she insisted it was the same, just longer. After installation, the extensions were clearly much darker than my natural medium brown hair. Lindsey said the color would lighten after a wash. It didn't. After a week, my hair still looked black, while my natural hair was brown (see photos). I called the salon, and Lindsey admitted Hot Heads had sent the wrong color. She offered two options: wait until January for the correct length and color or switch to the Babe brand in the same length and color. I confirmed over the phone that I wanted the exact same color and 24" length. Lindsey reassured me this was possible and even said she'd pay for the replacement extensions herself, as the salon owner wouldn't help. Embarrassed by how bad my hair looked, I agreed to the Babe extensions. When the new extensions arrived, the color blended better, but the length was noticeably shorter than 24". I asked Lindsey why, and she claimed she didn't know, as she had ordered 24". When she compared the Hot Heads extensions to the Babe ones, the new ones were about 3" shorter. I was livid. I paid nearly $1,000 for extensions to add length and ended up with hair barely longer than my natural hair. Lindsey said she'd try to resolve it with Hot Heads but doubted anything could be done. She then offered to resell me extensions at a salon discount. After already spending $1,000, I refused to pay more and just wanted what I had initially paid for. Lindsey told me to text her directly, not the salon, because the owner was rude and had caused her to lose clients. She claimed he was retiring soon and that she was trying to ensure I had the best service. After texting her for updates and receiving no response, I contacted Hot Heads directly. They were willing to fix the issue if the salon opened a claim. However, when Hot Heads called the salon, Lindsey was "unavailable." Frustrated, I went to the salon in person. Lindsey was there, but before I could speak, the owner came out yelling. He claimed the salon had ordered the wrong color and length, directly contradicting what Lindsey told me. He then accused me of agreeing to shorter extensions, which was untrue--I have text messages proving Lindsey promised 24" extensions. The owner became aggressive, pushed me, threatened to call the police, and began recording me. This entire experience has been horrific. I now have extensions I dislike, which are the same length as my natural hair, and am out $1,000. Do not go to this salon. After careful thought and discussions with friends and family--two of whom are stylists in another state--I felt compelled to write this review. While I could have easily dismissed the situation as a bad experience, the conversation I had with the owner left a lasting impression that I simply couldn't ignore. Both of my teenage children were seen by the same stylist, Lyndsey, at Blow Inc. The first appointment was for my son, where he requested his hair be bleached blond. Everything seemed to be going according to plan until it came time to rinse out the bleach, and his hair turned bright orange. At that point, the owner stepped in and gave us two options: either to re-bleach his hair right away or come back in a few weeks for a second session. My son's scalp was already very sensitive, but he didn't want to walk around with orange hair, so he decided to go ahead and re-bleach it then and there. After the second round, his hair looked fine. When it came time to pay--nearly 4.5 hours later--the owner made excuses for the stylist, claiming the issue was due to the bleaching process and my son's naturally dark, dirty blond hair. The second time my son was bleached by Lyndsey, fortunately, everything went smoothly, and the results were much better. However, our third and final experience with her was for my daughter's partial highlight appointment, and unfortunately, it didn't go well. Bleach continuously dripped from the foils in between the buttons of her smock and stained her pants, and by the end of the session, toner was splattered all over her face. Worse yet, her hair didn't even resemble the inspo photo she'd provided-- the highlights turned out far too orange. For $300 (plus tip), I expected a much more polished, attentive experience, not one that felt so sloppy and careless. My 16-year-old was too embarrassed to speak up for herself (a valuable learning experience for her), so it wasn't until we were pulling out of the parking lot that I realized the situation. I immediately called the salon to let them know their stylist had ruined her pants with bleach. They promised someone would follow up with me. When I didn't hear back within two days, I called again. The owner apologized but mentioned there was a sign in the bathroom stating they weren't responsible for damaged garments (I hadn't asked for reimbursement, though). What really bothered me, however, was his reasoning for not calling sooner. He said he didn't reach out because he assumed I'd be angry. Seriously? So, when clients are upset, you just avoid them? He also asked, "Did you know your stylist worked a 12-hour day that day?" Uh, okay... How is that relevant? We were the first appointment, we were given that time slot, and we showed up on time--none of that should affect the service we received. read more

In summary, he told me a stylist needs to learn a new clients hair. I don't pay a high end salon for someone to learn on my hair. The owner refunded my haircut fee (also got color which was lovely) but i have to live with this awful haircut for months. I will not mention the stylist because i feel this is on the owner (john) for not matching the proper experience with the client. I feel deceived given he assured me. Went here for a keratin treatment. Very nice, good recommendations on hair care. You can't wash your hair for a minimum of 72 hours but it's recommended to wait a week. My scalp was full oil at 3 days. I had to wash it . As I've changed my hair care routine it's now ok to wash it 2x a week. I've only been here once but I think it's a good place with happy employees. Some of the stylists talked back and forth about hair products and offered to help as needed. I'm not sure if I like keratin. I'm not the typical salon person; I'd be really happy to just throw my hair in a ponytail. But in a professional setting nice hair helps. The keratin does seem to cut down on styling time for someone with hair that is half flat and half wavy. It doesn't fully straighten it but helps. read more

Just had my 3rd cut with Jim, and I am so glad I found him. He is a true artist who invests ample time and care into every wax and cut, and I always get so many compliments after a visit with him. I needed an appointment b/c my hair needed a good cut - my regular stylist went out on maternity leave last year and hasn't returned yet. Blow had good reviews, so I called them. Not only did they respond immediately, I had an appointment within days. John spent some time getting to know me and how I like to wear my hair. He suggested great products as we talked through each step. It had been suggested by other stylists for me to get a keratin treatment at a cost of $250 to help combat my frizz, John explained that he didn't think that would be appropriate for my hair, that it would make my hair lay too flat; he suggested certain products that are working, thus saving me a lot of money. John understands hair and has a real talent for styling. The salon is bright, comfortable and inviting. It looks like i have two different haircuts!!!one side of my head has layers that come up to my ears/ "face framing" and the other side has layers that start at my chin. I didn't want face framing. I was supposed to be red balayage and it's all brown ( which is fine. But the cut isn't) i asked the owner to fix the cut as I'm crying in the salon and he didn't. I waited some time to write this review because i don't care to leave bad ones regarding someone else's efforts, however I would hate to see someone else end up with hair as bad as mine turned out. I have curly hair and went in for some highlights to make my curls pop. I got highlights but they were striped and all different shades of yellowish untoned "blonde". They were by no means acceptable and my hair in the back was falling out in chunks because the stylist took so long to finish the bleaching process. I asked if I should straighten my hair before going to the appointment and was instructed not to because the stylist would highlight specifically to the pattern of my curls but as soon as I sat in the chair the stylist started to brush out my curls damaging my hair. The styling at the end was the worst part of it all. I didn't want them to touch my hair again so I just paid and left. So moral of the story is if you have curly hair, stick strictly to a Diva salon or a stylist that specializes in curly hair. read more

Came here today to get my haircut. I brought a photo of the length and style I wanted. My hair was very long and the cut I wanted was very short so my stylist was timid. The first time it was cut I asked for more off. Then after the second time I asked again, because I wanted it up to my shoulder. A few moments later the stylists boss came up and told me I'd have to pay for two haircuts and should be paying for three since I had asked for more off the first time. I had not spoken to the boss at the salon yet and was just abruptly interrupted during my haircut. I'd never heard of this salon before yesterday, but they've earned my loyalty in the last 24 hours! When Folica lost my appointment (after I'd taken off work for an afternoon haircut!), I frantically called every salon in the downtown area. Blow couldn't immediately squeeze me in, so I thanked them and continued to work through the list. They were gracious enough to call me back, push forward another appointment and get me in for a cut and color! If that's not great customer service, I don't know what is! While I was extremely grateful for this consideration, I was a bit concerned about the salon's quality. I couldn't find many reviews, and as a librarian, I love to do my research! But I'm so, so glad I took a chance on Blow. Michael gave me fantastic, natural highlights that make me look like I've been out in the sun - just what I asked for! The salon owner, John, was awesome, too. He helped perfect my inverted lob and bangs. Best of all, their prices were affordable! The salon had great ambiance and they've got an adorable little pup roaming around. Miss Ellie makes for a great mascot! She kept me company as my color set in. The stylists are amazing however I experienced some of the most unprofessional behavior when I came in to buy product. As soon as I walked in the door, you could hear yelling and profanities over everything. I have never heard such name calling and profanities in a store. He even told a client that she was not worthy enough to sit in a chair and he could have the cops come and remove her. I later fund it was the owner of the salon. I started going to Blow, Inc. last July. I was looking for a salon that had a good reputation, was up to date on color and styles and able to do some hair extensions on my short hair. I was scheduled with Lauren for a consultation and she took the time to explain everything to me and answer my questions. My color, cut and extensions always look great. She listens and asks questions at the start of each appointment and is always willing to change things up. I love it! Lauren does amazing work! I ran into a bit of a hair issue a few weeks ago and Lauren was not there that day, but the team at Blow, Inc. worked with me and helped me out. I did not want to bother anyone the week before the holiday, but needed just a little help and I can't say how thankful I was that John and Addison were able to work in some time for me.
