This wonderful boutique bakery is located on Main Street in the historic district of Middletown, and is housed in a building that is over 100 years old (it used to house a bank). The bakery is co-owned by a local mother-daughter team! They make beautiful wedding cakes (a couple were there doing cake testings and creating their desired cake while we visited). The cake and frosting options looked amazing. In addition to wedding cakes they take orders for cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and a variety of pastries. Orders can be made in person or online. There are delightful servings of pastries (macaroons, cinnamon rolls, scones, tarts, cake slices and more) for sale in the shop. They also serve coffee, hot chocolate and cold drinks. My husband and I shared a slice of carrot cake and it was so moist and delicious. It was reminiscent of my grandmother's carrot cake that I enjoyed years ago. I suggest going early for the best selection, they sell out quickly! There are several seating areas if one chooses to eat in the shop and the space is decorated simply and elegantly. The baked goods take center stage! In addition, the bakery offers workshops and classes about cake decorating and more. Classes are offered for beginner level and for those with more experience. The space can be rented for bridal showers, baby showers and other events. The bakery is open Thur, Fri, and Sat (There are Tues and Wed hours available for pre-order pick up). Blu Bakery is located on Main St in Middletown (East Louisville) a block removed from Shelbyville Rd. in a refurbished bank building which is on the historic registry. This quaint little store caters primarily to weddings and special occasions but it does have a varied selection of cupcakes, pies, cookies and associated pastry items for drop-ins. There is also a coffee station with a variety of syrups including sugar free options. The atmosphere is quaint with comfortable chairs and couches for seating. The store is owner by a gracious and friendly mother/daughter duo. read more

This east-end bakery is located in Middletown and specializes in beautiful cakes for weddings and celebrations. The owner is creating a beautiful space in an already wonderful high ceiling building, placing seating areas for visits and a photo wall for pictures. Weekly treats are also available, including cookies, cupcakes, muffins and tart. Coffee and other drinks can be purchased. We stopped by to pick up a few to sample. The cupcakes and muffins are the size of your typical tin at home. They were decorated with a healthy dollop of frosting and design. A little dry but we enjoyed the flavors. The chocolate chip cookies were our favorite. Parking is right outside the doors of this historical building. Be very careful on the steps coming and going. This is a cute little bakery. The people are really nice. The selection is not very big though. This place seems more for orders I guess. Also, $3+ for a simple cupcake seems a bit much, but it was cute and tasty. I was in the Middletown neighborhood and I was curious about what was in the downtown area. I found that there was a little bakery called Blu bakery. I decided to pop in. Historically this used to be a bank thanks to the historical marker outside. But now it has been converted into this space. They have options of cupcakes and macarons, and various types of tea. There are other options available too, but it was late in the day so the cookies, scones, cinnamon rolls and mini cheesecakes were sold out. There were great syrup options for coffee and the teas also looked very delicious. The prices were reasonable and the service was nice. I was able to get a funfetti cupcake with a frosted animal cracker and it was moist and delicious. The space is very adorable for a hang out. read more

I dropped in this afternoon for a treat while in the area, and was pleasantly surprised! They had enough options for me to choose from, and it was hard to decide because everything was so beautiful. I settled on the plum and blueberry tart. Let me tell you....it was amazing! So flaky and airy. Not too sweet and the perfect amount of fruit/jam. Can't wait to visit again and again! Unique flavors and it's all about the icing. Can't go wrong with cream cheese. But it is on the expensive side per cupcake so def a special occasion purchase. It would have been nice if they had specials for large orders. It's a cute venue and always happy to support small, local businesses in town. I'll be on the lookout for new flavors. read more

I haven't tried very much from here, but I can say their cheesecake is easily the best cheesecake I've ever had! I haven't been here personally but my boyfriends mother raves about it and will often share with us. She loves the little pies. I would love to go in person to see this place! This place is special. I came in not expecting much and ended up being blown away. I'm not going to tell you what my fave item is because I already have trouble getting enough for myself but I will tell you the cupcakes are delicious. I have no idea what they do to that buttercream frosting, but it is unlike any other. The mini galetts are excellent and my daughter said the cinnamon rolls are the best she's had. Service is top notch and friendly. The place is so adorable you'll want to sit and stay a bit. I look forward to trying everything else on the menu. read more

Today I came in needing a cake for my sisters 25 birthday and it was TOTAL last minute thing obviously custom cakes take atleast a week in advance BUT once I got there and explained my situation the two lovely ladies there were so kind and were able to make a two layer gorgeous cake for me. Can not recommend this bakery enough, so grateful for the delicious strawberry cake and the kindness that helped make my sisters day even more special read more

Let me start as I always start when reviewing dessert. I am a total dessert snob. No grocery store cakes or even regular bakery cakes ( ie Plehns or Heitzman). Hands down this shop has the best cakes, cookies, cheesecake in the city. The icing is so fluffy and silky it feels like a Swiss or other fancy buttercream. But it's not. Technically.
