I went to this spot with a good friend of mine to hangout and chat, and while we were here we decided to grab a bite. The amount of variety on the menu was pretty nice, looks like there's something here for most people. I had the Cobb Salad and was happy with the amount of colorful vegetables and toppings on my plate. It comes with mixed greens (glad to see more salads with mixed greens instead of romaine), roasted chicken, nice crispy bacon, a hardboiled egg, blue cheese, black olives, tomato, avocado and a good amount of dressing. It tastes very fresh and is a decent portion size, but in terms of flavor there wasn't much going on. It tastes like "greens" and that's kinda it. I don't know what the cause is, like it's seasoned but I just didn't get much flavor. Perhaps my pallet prefers stronger flavors over lighter ones, so take this with a grain of salt (figuratively, or maybe literally). If you're in the area, check em out. read more

A friend highly recommended Crust & Crumb, so we decided to give it a try. We went on a Sunday around 9 a.m., and the line was already out the door. The café itself has a cute, inviting vibe. I loved the décor, the coffee, the cup design, and all the little items available for purchase. We ordered sourdough toast, a croissant, pumpkin roll latte, and an oat milk latte. Everything tasted great and we loved it. That said, the logistics were confusing. There isn't a menu available until you reach the register, so you don't know your options while waiting. You place baked goods orders with one person, then breakfast sandwiches and coffee with another. We were given a beeper and told it would buzz once for drinks and twice for food, but ours never went off for food, instead, someone came outside calling our name. The pickup setup was also awkward. The drinks and food is by a door marked "exit only," so you end up weaving back through the crowded line to get your order. Okay I'm not sure if I ruined this experience for myself or what. But I was excited to come here after the high praise from a coworker. I expected to grab a quick bite and coffee and do some work. They don't have public wifi which is fine, they probably want people to mosey on out and i understand that. So I just focused on eating. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, iced late and icing croissant knot. At 8 am I decided to sit on the patio. I had to eat it fast because the flies were legit landing all over my stuff. A fly landed on my frosted knot so I ate around it and that's a dang good pastry. We came back to try more items and grab a gift card, and today's items stood out much better. First, a bacon and egg breakfast sandwich. Delicious and I coupled it with an iced lavender london fog tea latte. The roast beef sandwich was a great lunch sandwich choice on sourdough bread. This would be great to share so that you could try another item. The marshmallow cookie with cereal flakes was yummy but the flakes gave it a weird chewy, yet hard, texture. Limited indoor seating but the patio is very full. This restaurant is cash free so have a card ready to swipe. Also, no straws. No paper menus, just a QR code near the register, so we had to do a bit of hunting before ordering. Once we figured it out, ordering was quick and easy. I went with the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant and the rice pilaf salad on the side, along with a hibiscus punch iced tea. My tea came out first and was delightful; fruity, refreshing, and not overly sweet. Our food was ready within about 10 minutes, and everything looked (and tasted) wonderful. The chicken salad was flavorful and perfectly balanced, and the croissant held up beautifully without getting soggy. The rice salad was such a pleasant surprise; sweet and savory with bits of squash, Brussels sprouts, nuts, and what tasted like dried cranberries or cherries. I was in need of a quick lunch after a workout, so I figured I would check out Crust and Crumb since it was nearby and I had been hearing so many good things about it. This place is so cute, and it stays busy. I came right as they were serving lunch, but they were very quick to take orders. They have different options for seating areas, such as tables inside, a bar and an outdoor patio as well. I never expect too much out of a turkey sandwich, but wow, theirs was so good! I paired it with some of their jalapeño chips and it was the perfect combo... It was pretty big too, I was able to make two separate meals out of it! Busy busy! This neighborhood doesn't have a lot of coffee shop options so I wasn't surprised that they were slammed late morning! They do have indoor and outdoor seating. Modern decor. I ordered the bacon and egg breakfast sandwich and the sausage and leek quiche. They were kind enough to call me about picking up my order since they were concerned my food would be cold. I appreciate that! The sandwich was large! Very filling too. The bread is where it's at. So good and fresh. And that quiche was melt in your mouth. Beautiful crust. It's so light to eat that it's criminal. When we went in, we stood in line to order our drinks since you can't preorder them online for some reason. Love this place - a perfect spot to meet a friend, take a break, or do some work. Bright and friendly, with stools and a few tables indoors and a nice enclosed sitting area outside (not just tables stuck on the sidewalk). The staff were friendly and hard working. A nice variety of drinks, and an amazing bakery with fresh, creative treats - carrot cake crossaint, blackberry pistschio croissant knot, and bacon chocolate chip cookies to name a few. I was there for sustenance, though, and got a bacon egg sandwich. It was a big sandwich and had good flavor, and the bun was soft and delicious. Next time I think I'll try a quiche. It's kind of a small space, but honestly that's for the best because I'm sure rent is expensive. Plus there is outdoor seating too. But the space also has a cool moving idk...tile board. It would move and make noise every so often. My sandwich was great and fresh. The bread was amazing. My ice coffee is perfect. Not burnt or anything. I've been wanting to visit for awhile, but the hours are limited. I happened to be off work and waiting for an appointment when I visited. This was a great place in a great space. I always forget the photos! However, everything was delicious! My iced coffee had a lot of flavor and creamy texture. I tried the cream puff, and it was so yummy! I loved the texture of the pastry and the filling was just sweet and fluffy enough to make you keep eating! I had an Italian sandwich as well. It had great flavor, but I do wish they served it warm and melted. I could only select 4 stars but I'd like to say it was a 4.5, and only for this part about the sandwich. Wow. All we've tried so far are pastries. I'm just glad we don't live close to Crust and Crumb or I'd gain 100 pounds and be broke. We've tried numerous different items. We've been to Paris and we loved the pastries there. C&C is very close to just as good and they are definitely at the head of the class in Louisville Metro. A couple of our favorites are the Death By Chocolate croissant and the Cream Puff. Unfortunately the menu changes monthly so your favorites aren't always available. I've been a fan of Crust and Crumb for over a year now. They started out doing farmers markets. They would bake at home and bring only a certain amount to the markets and sell out fast. And now that they have a brick and mortar it seems like this is still the case. I went around 11am and they were sold out of a lot of things. The music and atmosphere is so inviting. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful. Ordering is a little confusing. When you walk in you are met with the bakery items first. You order what you want from the bakery side first and then move on to the cashier for coffee and kitchen items. If ordering everything from both was an option it may speed up the ordering a bit as there was only one of each. But they definitely weren't slow. Took me around 10 minutes, waiting in line, ordering, and waiting on my food. I think that's more than fair for a restaurant. I had the Bacon/Egg Sandwich. I could eat this EVERYDAY, that's how good it was. The sweet taste of the bacon against the savory egg, bun, and Dijonaise had me craving more. I also got the Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie.
