We were celebrating a special occasion so splurged during our meal and generally enjoyed ourselves here. This was our first visit and plan to return. I'd call it a hidden gem because you kind of have to know about it since it is located in a gated community, a brand new one at that. They are building all over the place around it, and it looks like many of the units are still empty. Blu Ocean Grille is located inside the clubhouse and right next to the pool area. According to the website, reservations are necessary. However, it took a while for me to make them because the online software kept saying I was too early to make them. I called and left a message twice but never received any return call. We almost considered not going, and we were not asked about our reservations (that I was finally able to make online). We arrived when they opened at noon (on a weekday), and other than one other table that arrived soon after us, we were the only ones there until we left a little over an hour later. Still, this place wasn't full, so I'm not sure about the hype concerning the need for reservations. There was only 1 server, who was very friendly and helpful but seemed overly busy. It looked as if a manager might have wandered in and out briefly. The kitchen is open, so there was a bit of noise coming from there. This place is not very large. The food was very good. We both enjoyed the soup. I had the Southwestern veggie, which was the soup of the day. It was very spicy, but I was able to tone it down with some sour cream. We shared the Margarita flatbread. It was very good. The tomatoes were extra delicious. My date had the lobster and shrimp bisque and loved it. He also had the strip steak, which he ordered medium well, but it wasn't, more like medium rare. He had the brussel sprouts and potatoes as sides and really liked them. I had the Baja cod tacos, blackened, and I would definitely get them again but ask for the sauce to be on the side instead of drizzled everywhere but on the actual tacos. It was difficult to scoop it up and get it on my tacos. I also had a side of potatoes, and they were wonderful, thin layers with generous amounts of cheese. I took most of them home (we had lots of leftovers) and they reheated really well. We tried two desserts: a flourless chocolate cake and a carrot cake. The desserts were the only dishes we weren't impressed with. The chocolate cake was ho-hum, basically tasted like fudge. The carrot cake was 80% raisins and other dried fruit. read more

I would like to send compliments to the new owner/chef Chris and his excellent team for the great attention they have given to our group lunch event at the private room. The restaurant manager, Sarah worked with us diligently on providing the best service. She was there on the day of the lunch, setting up the buffet with another staff. The food was prepared by chef David and it was delicious. We had a salad, linguine, chicken romano and mixed vegetables, with the sauce on a separate pan. We did not run out of food or drinks because they replenished the food. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch meeting. Keep up the good work! read more

The food was good . The Noise from the kitchen was so loud our waitress could not take our order, she had to go back to the kitchen and discuss the kitchen staff to quiet down. Went for dinner with two other couples, all enjoyed. We started with the calamari app, tentacles & rings; it was good; tender and nicely cooked..sadly breading didn't stay on, sauces were tasty. Sat at the bar intending to have a cocktail but ended up ordering some appetizers. Nice vibe. It's the bar/restaurant for an over 55 community. Everyone was super friendly, including the bartender. Ordered a Maker's Manhattan, it was strong and balanced. Followed by a the soup de jour, French onion. Nice, rich, and thick (forgot to take a pic). Also had the Margherita Flat Bread. Tell the chef to cover his beard while cooking GROSS and STOP USING STALE CROUTONS IN YOUR Caesar salad! Their Fish and Chips were amazing. The service was great, and the setting outside was nice with a pool and it's very quiet and lowkey. My mother had their angus burger and it was mediocre, however that's not their specialty so it's unfair to judge them on that. An interesting menu full of promise. The restaurant interior and ambiance were descent. The service was acceptable. The issue was the quality of the food and the price. The caprese salad had large tasteless tomatoes and the mozzarella cheese slices seemed to be overly firm. Not enough balsamic vinegar and evoo. Disappointing. The gnocchi soup was ok but not great. Thick with too many dumplings. Fair. Would not order again. The sautéed salmon was nicely presented but didn't have much flavor and really it was overcooked. Disappointing. The au gratin potatoes were good. Nice flavor. The bacon-roasted brussels sprouts were not crispy. They were in a liquid and lacked the flavors that one would normally expect with an oven-roasted preparation. Ok but still disappointing. The total price which included a pre-tip of 20% was about the same as an Oak and Ember dinner BUT fell far short in food quality. Considering that Oak and Ember is 5 miles east on the same street there's no reason to dine here. They will have to improve the quality of the food; reduce the price and back off on the outrageous pre-tip to make this a place worth dining at. I don't consider myself a food snob but if you're charging these prices you'd better be delivering good food. read more

Friends joined us for happy hour appetizers and drinks to give this spot a test run. It is the clubhouse restaurant for the Encore development in Tradition. We stepped into a large foyer and I had to laugh when my friend remarked that it looked like we walked into a nicely appointed assisted living facility. The hostess offered us inside or outside dining and we opted for the outdoor covered terrace overlooking the pool. There were about twenty fellow diners in and out. We stuck to our happy hour menu and ordered a strawberry marguerita, old fashions and iced tea. The alcohol pours were liberal and each drink had well balanced ingredients. It helped that our server was also the bartender. We shared the southwestern nachos ($10), a heaping plates of chips, chicken, salsa, cheese, cilantro, green onions and sour cream. They were good but a bit dry when spread out over the plate. Also ordered was the chicken quesadilla ($10) reframed with the same ingredients as the nachos. The tortilla kept the fillings moist. Another dish was the crispy calamari ($10) with sides of marinara and lemon aioli. They were overly "crisp" and nothing special. They don't deserve recognition beyond a ten dollar happy hour menu. Finally, the marguerita flatbread ($10) was fairly good as a happy hour app. Enough for all four of us to share. The grille is new and clean. It's relaxing. We were really impressed by Blu Ocean Grille. It's new, very clean, and tastefully decorated. The menu is upscale. There's a nice lunch menu and a gourmet dinner menu. Nothing you'd expect for a small cafe in a 55+ rental community. The prices reflect the quality and environment. Everything was plated nicely and tasted good. The service is spectacular. Well we gave Blu Ocean another try and I'm glad we did. We went for the happy hour and we were delighted. We had the Wagyu Burger, great price and cooked to perfection. Really enjoyed our wedge salad and side of fries. The service at the bar was fantastic. And of course it doesn't hurt that the restaurant is beautiful inside. Had an amazing Mother's Day brunch last Sunday. We're were greeted by Sarah and seated with my husband, son and his family right away. Waitress, Ali, came over and gave us menus and asked if we wanted any drinks. We ordered and reviewed the new buffet menu, served only on Sunday's. It was a variety of plates. We started with the cinnamon buns made fresh from Brittany the pastry chef. I settled on the western omelet, and Home fries. Both were really delicious. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and meals. When this restaurant opened, we thought it would be a great place to dine in the future. This place has gone down hill at an unbelievable rate. There use to be a very nice happy hour menu, now it has the cheapest food stuff imaginable. We ate there 3/10/25. What a disappointment.They offered steamed clams that were chowder sized, garlic parm wings that were not, just had some white sauce on them. They had no dinner menu, just appetisers that were not appetising. I bet this place will be gone soon. read more

Blu Ocean Grille--Tradition-- My Review: Despite the extraordinary descriptions & photos blazed over their website describing a "relaxed elegance and exceptional cuisine" . . . our experience, sorry to say, was neither exceptional or elegant. Far from it. After viewing the slick web site we were excited about trying the place with an expectation of a higher end experience, akin to a "Kyle G's" or one similarly in that sphere. After all, that's what the web site implied to me. We ended up with nothing remotely close. For starters the atmosphere is what I would call a "bland modern"-- nothing "elegant" about it, unless of course you enjoy corporate dining rooms. A relatively small dining area. Very small outside seating. My wife ordered the highly recommended "West Coast Cioppino" boasting "italian style pan roast, shrimp, clams, grouper, sea scallops, |mussels in aromatic tomato broth with pearl pasta and garlic crostini. She received a cereal bowl sized serving that included exactly--3 shrimp, 1 sea scallop (singular), 3 mussels (one empty), 2 clams, a small piece of Grouper and a crostini. To say it was a small dinner portion is an understatement! Oh, and with very little taste even with the "aromatic tomato broth". For this insult were charged $38. Next I ordered the Chef's Special "Pan Roasted Grouper Vera Cruz" which enticed me with "latin spices, rustic olive sauce, roasted fingerlings & seasonal vegetables". I received a playing card deck sized piece of grouper, 5 potato fingerlings (not roasted) and three strands of ice cold broccoli.This meal was also small in size and not what I would consider entre-sized, but worse of all ... completely lacking of taste! I mean, how can you miss with "latin spices & rustic olive sauce??? For this piece of "exceptional cuisine" I paid $35. Now I am not one to quibble or make a scene in any restaurant to try and knock off the price of a lousy meal or get the meal completely taken off my bill, however after a mild statement of the facts to the manager she, on her own, deducted $10 from my bill and gave me a sparkling new "$10 off coupon" for my next meal there. (Darn! I must have forgotten to take that coupon!) Bottom line: I'm tired of getting less than I expect from establishments (not just restaurants) that don't even come close to delivering on their promises. I feel used. Insulted. Getting less than expected sucks. And there's much too much of this going on everywhere!!! As you might guess I cannot recommend Blu Ocean Grille to anyone looking for what you'd expect . . . a good meal or an elegant dining experience. Sometimes you just gotta speak up! read more

Bar is great! But after having a reservation for over a week manager said we were sitting outside.. sorry 58 degrees outside and our reservation said indoors. We were seated at a table finally service was slow seemed as though they were under staffed and the manager was a bit confused over the amount customer's waiting for their food. Then I noticed the Chef arrived.. we received our food after some wait and it was ok at best...was it worth $175 with a bottle of wine . Don't think so. Should have booked at Clarettas in Palm city or Palm Social and gotten quality food for that money. Also $85 bar bill for 4 Martinis.. thought I was at the Ritz in Miami. Port St. Lucie - Recently went for dinner on a Friday night with reservations. Located within a new gated residential development called Encore, open to the public. We were immediately greeted and seated. This is an upscale casual place that is much needed in this area. Very nice decor and interior. We started with 3 beautiful large shrimps cocktail app that with delicious sauce; the scallops entree was quite special. Large excellently prepared and seasoned scallops and accompanying risotto. The filet mignon entree was very good quality, tender and nicely seasoned but was overly cooked and not medium rare as requested. I am not one to send food back unless it's not edible. The issue may not have been in the kitchen. Perhaps the server was not focused. Who knows. So do emphasize your cooking preference if ordering the filet. Decent wine list and dessert options. Acoustics aren't great so noise level can be at times high, especially if a loud table is nearby. Prices were reasonable. Convenient parking available. Happy hour menu also looked good. Tip is automatically included and NO up charge if paying with a credit card unlike some restaurants in this area. We will return. read more

Then they asked if we had a reservation, we didn't...then they said we only have outdoor seating. The floor was empty, the bar was full. The ambiance couldn't have been better. The dining room is beautifully decorated. But the food was just so so. We saw an ad in the Hometown News that said to check out the new food and drink menu items including soup and sandwich combinations, etc. When we asked our waitress about them she said that they were not yet available. The ad did not mention a starting date. That was disappointing! I ordered the Chicken Paillard which was $17.00. I expected a very thin chicken breast with a yummy salad on top of it. The chicken was very, very, dry and very small. The salad was also very small and it was just okay. It certainly was not like the Chicken Paillard that I have had in the past. One of my friends got the Chicken wrap sandwich and my other friend got the Angus Burger. Both came with good tasting French Fries but the burger was extremely well done, not medium as ordered and the chicken wrap was flavorless. With so much wrong we decided not to complain as we feared that the management would think we were a bunch of Karen's. It's a shame that the food was so sub par because we will probably not be returning. I hope that someone can help them to improve the food. read more

The sides looked and tasted like they were made the night before and reheated. The quality of the steak reminded me of a Longhorn and for the price is unacceptable.
