As my wife and I continue our trek through the Port St. Lucie area enjoying the Mets baseball we are always looking for new places to eat. On this night, we decided to check out Zest kitchen and bar, we were not disappointed. Zest is a casual yet slightly upscale restaurant. The menu boasts a wide array of selections. The cocktail menu is also very diverse and detailed. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Overall, a very enjoyable atmosphere in the dining area. The bar was also packed. Every seat was taken. For cocktails, I went with the old-fashioned and my wife had a Bees Knees Both of which were made perfectly. After scanning the menu for quite some time, I decided to order the chicken Cordon Bleu. Excellent decision! It was cooked perfectly and pre-sliced into small medallions. It was covered in a delicious brown gravy and the sweet potato mashed potatoes that were fantastic. My wife ordered the roast duck. She said it was fabulous. It was accompanied by Yukon Gold mashed potato's and spaghetti squash. My wife was impressed with the spaghetti squash . A very unique and unexpected surprise . Personally I don't usually like duck but I decided to try it and even I thought it was delicious. Unfortunately, we will be leaving town in a few days. I will say this, the next time we are in Port St. Lucie Zest will be high on the list for places we will return to. Definitely check it out if you haven't already! Never again. My wife and I came in for an early Valentine's dinner and were treated very rudely. Zest has a 2:00 PM Valentine's menu, and at 1:55 we asked for it. Our server didn't bring menus, only drinks--so I finally got up and grabbed one myself. After that, she took orders from tables that were seated after us, while we continued to be ignored. Took myself out on a lunch date and Zest was the perfect place to do that! Let's start with the service! The Greeter was awesome -- both energetic and friendly. My server, too, was friendly. Ordered the Crab Rangoon Egg Rolls. The menu claimed lump crabmeat. Hmmmm. Didn't have any lumps, and honestly, crab flavor was overpowered by the cream cheese. Though I didn't feel the dish was as promised, it was really, really good! And it came with the cutest salad, including an edible flower. Wonderful presentation. The egg rolls (2) were $18. I opted not to drink anything other than water. For the prices charged at Zest, I feel they should filter the water! Ugh! PSL water is terrible! Great service! Good food. So while in Port St Lucie I try to hit up the locals that people seem to rave about. I heard the salads here are good so I decided to stop in. The ambiance here is regular nothing that stands out, they have a few tables outside the establishment but nothing that says welcome in. It's located between Home Goods and a Home Centric shop. We started with some lemonade drinks. The children had the mini Kobe burger with cheese and fries, and chicken nuggets with fries. The burger was okay and the chicken nuggets lacked seasoning. Our children are getting great with tasting their food. Every one children are honest at a young age. My wife ordered the chef's salad with a blackened salmon. Unfortunately, the blackened looked more like a light crisp salmon as far as seasoning it fell short as well. For me, I ordered the Shredded Duck salad, the overwhelming cherry vinaigrette dressing kind of killed the taste of everything else that was mixed in the salad. The Duck looked tasty but the excessive dressing killed it. I know we are in times of being fancy with everything we create but it should be at a calmer pace. Especially when it comes to the patron's food. Most of these establishments hardly taste the food before sending it out and this is what hurts the reviews or keeping their doors open past 2 years. I will say the presentation of the food was delightful but that is all. The wait time for our food was a bit excessive for salads as well as the check. Which shows the lack of help that is being used. We want this local mom-and-pop establishment to win. But what seems to always happen is the firing they had when they open they seem to lose as they get comfortable. Despite the menu's breadth, it is not long, rather, well selected with 8-10 entrees, and 4-5 "handhelds" including a big juicy burger as a highlight. I started with an excellent Caesar Salad with a delicious dressing; the "side salad" was the perfect size to start the meal. The Branzino, always on the menu, is perfectly prepared with a lemony cream sauce, and beautifully displayed on top of creamy mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. It has an unusual breading, but it is very tender. One of us had the burger, and it was cooked perfectly. She really enjoyed it. Another in our group had the scallops, a traditional favorite of all of us. As typical, it was pretty much perfect. I almost got it but wanted to try something different. I opted for one of the day's special, lobster ravioli. While it is nice to see the menu expanded somewhat, I would not order this again. I felt the red sauce overpowered the dish in general, and the lobster was a little chewy. A piece of garlic bread would have been a nice addition too. They never serve bread here, but this dish has a lot of sauce, so it would have been nice to have bread to dip into it. read more

We have been coming to Zest since we first moved to Florida in early 2022. I think it's safe to say we have eaten here at least 50 times. This is the only restaurant we have ever been to that's consistent in both food and service. After 1 1/2 years of meals here, we have never been disappointed, ever! My favorite food there at this kitchen on St. Lucie West Boulevard in Port St. Lucie is incredibly delicious. My favorite item on the menu is the chicken and fried green tomato with aïoli on a bagel bun. It is the best thing I ever ate and I go there every chance I can get somebody to go with me just so I can have that The atmosphere is casual but comfortable. The food is unbelievably delicious.
