I have been going to Blu Spa for the last year to have Bree cut and color my hair! She is so good and so sweet! She has made suggestions on cuts and color that have worked out great! My 14 year old daughter has gone to her also and has loved her hair. Last week I went to Jessica for a facial! I have had ALOT of facials and I can tell you honestly that her facial was the BEST! She is so knowledgeable. Made suggestions to what I should and shouldn't be doing in my skin care. Used certain products that she thought was appropriate for my skin. Loved that she gave me a sample of the moisturizer that she used. And on top of the facial... the 60 min facial includes a neck, shoulder, arm and hand massage! If you would like a 90 min. It includes the above and a leg/foot massage. The prices are a little higher than some places. But I don't mind paying higher prices if the service is great. And it was was! It's simply the best. Been to others however blu is the only place for me. The staff at the desk is always welcoming and ready with coat check and beverages. The relaxation room is just that. Quiet and calming while transporting you to another place of absolute coziness. I almost didn't want to leave for my facial with Nicole. Thank goodness I did. Nothing short of amazing. First thing - I'm a guy. I get my hair cut here. It doesn't feel like this place belongs in Buffalo. Nothing wrong with this area - I love it. However Blu Spa & Salon feels like it came from somewhere entirely different. Somewhere more progressive and up-to-date. The owner of this place hit the nail on the head for giving people what they want. My wife loves this place - and she normally dreads spending time at any salon. When faced with giving our toddler just her 2nd hair cut in her life (she'll be 3 in just a couple of months from now) we initially thought we'd take her to a more "kid friendly" atmosphere. Then we began to question just exactly is "kid friendly?" Does that mean you have to attempt to distract them with television, balloons, candy, and overly colorful wall art plastered everywhere like someone went nuts with a few paint cans? I theorized that given a relaxing environment and some nice calm explaining of the tools used to "do hair" our toddler would remain calm and happy and not become the nightmare we've heard from just about every other friend who is a parent. Tara cut our daughters hair and it went perfectly. We only brought a book to read. Everything here is perfect. The complimentary coffee (and sometimes snacks) they have, the cool & calming decor, the choice of music playing in the back round, the seemingly genuinely friendly staff, and the smells in the air all combine for a very relaxing and pleasant experience. I hate paying $15 + tip for a hair cut as a guy. My cut is simple and fast. However that being said I'm not going to find anywhere that cuts hair under $13 and certainly not one as nice as this place. Worth the money for sure. (Side note - I cannot believe no one else here has reviewed this place on Yelp yet. Back in the San Francisco bay area yelp is second nature to leave reviews for places. This further drives home my view that Buffalo just isn't very progressive.) read more

I had a couple of gift cards for here and I decided to use them on a hot stone massage. This was my second hot stone massage and I must say that I am a big fan of them. They are best on a cold winter day! The stones just melt your muscles. My massage was given by Brenda and I really liked her. She made sure I was relaxed and her massage was heavenly. The best part...she didn't make small talk with me. I hate paying all that money for a massage and you feel like you have to entertain the massage therapist with conversation. For 75 minutes, I got to be in the zone! Blu is a really nice spa and you feel special when you are there. My only issue is that they are VERY expensive! Not happy. Had an appointment for a facial at 5. I was told at 5:20 that the room wasnt ready. I was scheduled for an hour. I had to be out by 6 pm. Asked for a water. Never got it. I am new to the area and am looking for a great spa (like the one I had in NJ). Would like to give this place a try but customer service is not great and that's part of the experience. read more

I did not have a good experience with my mani/pedi that I got for a wedding but went back for a spray tan and it was absolutely fabulous. I felt super comfortable, got a really even, perfect color tan (NO ORANGE) and it was not nearly as expensive as some other places (only $25). I will 1000% recommend them for a spray! read more

The last couple Christmas I have gotten a gift card and have always gone with my mom and have received a massage and facial. We went 1/29/19 and received both services the massage was great. I wrote a complaint about the facial it was the worse facial I had ever received and they are known for there facials. I have received facials from there before and never a problem. I never heard back from the salon about my complaint and now I have come to find out the girl Ali that gave my facial was in training and without a license to practice. I am so upset with this service I received and lack of response from company.Very unprofessional!! read more

Yet another amazing experience! Dan did my haircut this time and took his time making sure it looked perfect. He was extremely friendly just like the rest of the staff there! I can't remember the name of the girl who did my brows and lip wax but she was so sweet. I always feel relaxed and confident with how I look walking out of Blu Spa. This Salon is so beautiful and has everything you could ever want in a Salon from wine to private rooms. However, I've been there four times, and each time my or my friends hair was completely destroyed by the time we left. The stylists (that I've met) don't seem to know what they're doing and don't take into consideration what you actually say. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the atmosphere, they just need some better stylists or to teach them some more. It's NOT worth the price with the stylists now. read more

My wedding is this Saturday and I wanted to surprise my maid of honor with a great facial at Blu! I booked it earlier in the month and advised the girl, Ashley at the desk that this would be a surprise. The day before our appointment my maid of honor received a call confirming our appointment at Blu, and ruining my surprise for her. When I called the salon no one apologized or took ownership for their mistake. They offered me 10% off. I did not care about the money. The following day I spoke to Leah who was extremely friendly and helpful. She apologized and helped us get set up when we got there. When we got settled in they took my sister back right away. I sat waiting for about 10-15 mins and in that time spoke with the owner Dina, who again failed to take ownership of her businesses mistake. Finally the esthetician Nicole took me back. While doing my facial she was chatty, quite chatty, which whatever I didn't mind, but she was so chatty she forgot to give me my neck, décolletage and hand massage. When I came out of the room I asked my maid of honor how long she had waited for me and she just came out a minute before me. When I went to the desk I had to say something. The girl was very friendly and offered me another 10% which again was not what was going to satisfy me. Offering me a 10 minute massage or something would have satisfied me, not money off. After this I called and spoke to Dina the owner who again refused to take ownership of the situation. She stated that she didn't think anything would make me happy. Extremely unprofessional. All I wanted was an apology and to receive the services that I paid for. That would have made me happy. . read more

I had an appointment at 5 o'clock on a Friday evening, right before leaving for a beach vacation. I had been here for a pedicure before, and the lady did a great job. This time, it was horrible. The lady only buffed one foot, and only put cream on the other foot. I left with pretty colored toes, but the rest of my $45 "pedicured" feet looked terrible! I won't be back. read more

Approximately two weeks before xmas, salons were able to open again so I hurried to book an appointment to get my hair done before xmas. I was looking to get a root touch up, balayage and gloss. I was able to get an appointment with Briana @ 3:30pm on 12/16. Being that I've never been there before, I called a few days prior to confirm services and go through pricing to make sure I wasn't walking into any surprises. Of course, that was a waste of time! I ended up showing up to my appointment to only find out that Briana can't do everything in one day because she has a "special" technique. She told me she can either do the root touch up or the balayage and I would have to come back a second time for the other service. I asked if it would be before xmas, and she said no they are fully booked. I told her I wish someone would have told me because I could have done my roots at home the day before if I knew it was going to be a problem. I even confirmed my services twice - how are staff not aware of her technique and scheduled me that way. She said she could do a few highlights with the root touch up but it would end up costing me more when I wanted balayage in the first place plus the inconvenience of having to come back a second time weeks after my first appointment. Doesn't make sense at all to me. I'm even surprised with not being able to return before xmas, it's a shame Briana could not make any kind of adaptation to her technique to satisfy me instead of turning me away. The facility is clean and makes you feel relaxed right from the beginning. My massage therapist Melinda was great and really made me feel relaxed. I started going to Blu when it opened and while I have had pedicures and manicures...what always brings me back is Julia. She is a fabulous estetician and my skin always looks and feels glorious because of her. She will laugh and say it's genetics, but honestly...I've been other places for facials and sure it was a nice experience, but Julia is THE BOMB. For many years I went to a chain salon, so each time I had a different hair stylist. My hair style was pretty simple at the time (just below the shoulder, no bangs, slight tapering around the face) - difficult to mess up. About a year ago I felt I needed a change - I wanted to go short and have bangs again. I went to Amy and she was very friendly and really listened to me. I tend to turn my hair over to the hair stylist to tell me what they think would be the best for my hair type (hey, I am paying for their experience). After telling her what I was thinking and showing her a few pictures, she was able to create a style that can be styled up or wash, dry and go. That's what I like! You've also commented on your little Asian nail salon you apparently love to visit. So since it sounds like your looking to just trash other places I think you should keep your low class, Asian salon taste elsewhere. I have been to blue many times and never have had a negative experience. The staff are not untidy they are usually very put together. So if you think this is sloppy I would love to see what you think about what your Asian friends wear! Keep up the nice job blue hopefully the low class will say away from your business :) read more

So I have been happily gifted a certificate for mani/pedi here 2 years in a row. I am not one to complain about that. I have enjoyed my experience both times I have gone here approximately 1 year apart. The staff is very nice, English speaking, and try to make your stay comfortable and somewhat enjoyable past the massaging of your feet. So I guess why the "meh, I've experienced better" then? Well to start the cost of one of those mani/pedis is $70 which to be honest is way too much. Don't get me wrong if I was thoroughly engulfed in the spa experience (which I have before: robes, soft music, escape feeling, extensive massaging) I would be happy to spend that much on my hands and feet. However, I have gone to multiple places in Buffalo (and on LI-- don't get me started, mani/pedi there is $20) and I pay much less in other locations for the same QUALITY experience. So why pay that much then? My nail place around the corner of my house has half the price tag with a better outcome (Safety First if your curious-- sorry to name drop on a review of a competitor). I don't know what drives people wild about this place to take bridal parties there and whatnot. I have NOT experienced any of their hair services or facials/massages so this review is specifically for nails. If money is tight to keep those tooties looking pretty (as it is for me) I would skip this place and go for the cheaper alternative. Sorry all! read more

This experience was a bust. My two girlfriends and I decided to treat ourselves to an "upscale" mani/pedi. We had the last appointments of the day and were rushed out the door with our toes still ticky-tacky. There was no scrub or wash on my hands (which I have received at less expensive salons) and nothing special with the pedi. We left, still concerned about our toes and of course, my friend dinged hers getting into the car. It is day three and my gel mani has already chipped and my girlfriend's manicure is a mess with bumps. I was charged $85 for a pedi/gel mani which is more than most straight nail salons. They did give me a cup of tea, but there really wasn't an upscale/spa feel to place. Unless this is in your neck of the woods, I would suggest staying with the tried and true nail places. read more

One thing about this business is that it is very unfortunate for all of the talented & awesome staff that are stuck there. The owner & management are fake to everyone.. clients included do not let them fool you. The treatment of the staff is a joke, they really do not care about their employees at all, they just need them there in order to get their hair & nails done everyday. The customer service skills are literally laughable, I've seen some clients & many employees walk out in tears because of the way the owner reacts to an issue. The front desk "manager" has never ran a spa before and clearly doesn't know what she is doing.. From experience & seeing how the inside of this business works I would not want to get a service there knowing who I'm giving my money too in order to keep this place running. Also you can never be sure if the tips left in the box are even going to the technician, coming from personal experience I have watched money get taken out of the box by management myself. If your looking for a good spa/salon to go to with good customer service I would definitely look else where. read more
